Lol. Like every time Chime breathes on camera we argue about her hair type.
I believe she is a 3d.

melissa-bee SMH, I gotta remember that. I'm subscribed to Chime's yt and seeing her latest videos are enough for me. If I see another Chime thread I would be silly to take part in it. I gave it a good shot though.

Her hair looks awesome and so does her sisters, you can barely tell the difference between the relaxed and natural hair because of how loose their textures are so I would've just evened out her ends and called it a day.

My Friend She is definitely not 4a, if you watch her wash-n-go video, she has minimal shrinkage and her hair is best described as wavy with some loose curls not coily like 4a hair. If you watch her video of her doing two strand twists on her hair it just stays elongated, it never shrinks so she doesn't have coils at all, its loose waves and curls, and 4a hair is afro textured and tightly coily, not curly.

I think people who don't have tightly coily hair claim 4a to seem more legitimate, because most people are aware of how much easier it is to retain with a looser curl.

I think Embrya gave you two perfect examples, I'll add to that RusticBeauty, AliciaJamesMusic, BeautifulBrownBabyDoll

BlackMasterPiece, i understand what you are saying about the hair typing misconception! but i find it sooo confusing that i completely given up typing my own! i always tougth i was a type 4a/b, but when i look at other 4a, Poohbear, Naptural85, they have tigher coils. but i don't when wet my hair is wavy, but it dries out frizzy, no curl!!! i have lots of shrinkage, fine hair (but used to have lots of hair, until post partum!), and no matter what i can't have a perfect round fro, unless i backcomb my hair. i my hair does not behave like type 3 either!!!! completely lost:perplexed

Drool. Both gorgeous with great hair. Big chop my foot, more like a cut! If she flattened it, she'd close in on APL. :perplexed

I gotta agree with your post. As for the bolded....Yeah I hear you but...even after all of that the product/regimen may cause havoc on your hair. At the end of the day we winging it and some are soaring and some are on the ground trying to pick up all the hair breaking off their head. Chime has a gorgeous full head of hair, that girl is soaring and knowing her type or reggie won't help me get off the ground.

DayDreamist I forgot I made that post and only just now saw your response.

I actually agree with you, I think the way someone's hair looks has less to do with how it will behave then porosity, density etc. In the end all hair needs the same basic things and you just have to get to know your own head of hair to figure out its individual needs :yep:
