I had a horrible dream that I was visiting a stylist and she cut the front and sides of my hair super short even though I didn’t ask for a haircut.

I’m guessing I had the dream because before I went to sleep I was thinking out how I want to do my self trim in April.

Saturday DC Check In

1. DC with heat more than 1.5 hour. Nutrient Mask - Dash of grinded fenugreek growth mix, coconut milk/ACV mix, honey, organic cold pressed avocado oil, cold pressed castor oil, cold pressed extra virgin olive oil, dash of henna, dash of indigo, cassia, amla powder, dash of saw palmetto, dash of cloves, Tea Tree EO, Peppermint EO, Rose Mary EO, Eucalyptus EO
2. Camille Rose Black Castor Oil & Chebe Hair Cleanse
3. Straighten hair
4. Amla and Rose Mary Growth oil
5. Scalp Massage

I am definitely doubting doing it my self. But my plan is to remove such a small amount of hair that I don’t think I can mess it up. My goal isn’t to make it even or anything, just to dust the ends.
I can honestly say I've NEVER had a setback trimming my own ends. But I've had plenty going to stylist no matter how careful I thought I was. I wouldn't worry.

Since yesterday I dried my hair in 2 side buns with a middle part today I was able to wear a low bun and keep my middle part. I definitely want more hair so that my bun can be even bigger.

Or I have to find a new way to secure it. With spins I have to wrap my hair pretty tightly a so it will be sleek. And then the pins really compress the hair in the actual bun.

I think my hair will need to be almost 2x its current length to have the curly bun of my dreams.

OMG! I randomly pulled a section of my hair and it's like a centimeter away from the top of my bra!!! I'm in shock! Maybe this year my hair will make it to BSL.
1 centimeter is about .4 inches, almost .5 inches.

On average hair grows .5 inches per month. You need less than .5 inches to reach BSL.

Potentially this section of hair should touch the top of your bra strap within 1-2 months, no later than mid April 2025 or no later than April 16th, 2025. Barring there are no set-backs or cutting of hair.

Glad you're with us :) I want to trim an inch off also but haven't bc I already posted the start photo. I'll likely trim this year, not sure when

This is how my curls turned out today. I have a range of 3b, 3c, and 4a curls.

I just want to thicken up my hair as it grows.

Today I used:

L'Oreal Hyaluronic Shampoo and Conditioner
L'Oreal Power Restore Deep Conditioner
L'Oreal Hyaluronic Plump Serum spray
Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie
Super Wet Gel

Okay, okay, okay! :curtain:

So I've been giving it some thought and I've been trying to remember what I was doing years ago to grow my hair.

And when I think about it, what helped me in the past was mainly co-washing and wet bunning.

SO!! For my detailed regimen, I have decided to:

*Co-Wash Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
*Shampoo and condition Twice a week (Wednesday and Sunday)
*Deep Condition on Sundays
*Wear my hair in a damp bun most of the week using satin scrunchies, leave in, serum, and some gel
*My hair gets a break on Mondays and Fridays so I'll either wear it out or in a ponytail

I have a LOT of hair products but I'm going to focus on using up my:

L'Oreal Hyaluron Plump Shampoo
L'Oreal Hyaluron Plump Conditioner
L'Oreal Hyaluron Plump Serum spray
L'Oreal Dream Lengths Conditioner
L'Oreal Dream Lengths Shampoo
L'Oreal Dream Lengths Frizz Killer Serum
L'Oreal Dream Lengths Deep Conditioner
L'Oreal Power Restore Deep Conditioner
Super Wet Gel

Can you tell I'm loving L'Oreal? :giggle:

I'm gonna be doing this for 3 months. And then...as the weather gets warmer, I'm going to be co-washing daily. :weird:

I wish I could do this! My hair is so short I can't bun for awhile. Love your regimen and thanks for the inspiration! I agree many people grow their hair fast from wetting it often

I straighten my hair every time I wash/cowash. To straighten my hair daily would be a lot for me right now...I think...

You have me thinking maybe I should switch to daily cowashing/wash and DC 1x a week. If I find that daily cowashing/wash + straighten is more time saving than DCing 2-3x a week, I'll make the switch cowash/wash daily and DC 1x/wk. I'll let you know how it goes if I go for it!

I'm going for it! If it turns out to go over allotted time in updated schedule will have to go back to previous regimen

Updated Regimen

Sunday: Hair Oiling only, no wash

Monday-Friday: Cowash or sulfate free moisturizing shampoo depending on what hair needs. Use hair tea after washes

Saturday: Deep Condition with heat for minimum 1 hour

Tomorrow will not DC since regimen has changed. Will check in for cowash/wash on Wednesday and DC on Saturdays

Short hair is the best to do it on! Are you natural? When my hair was really short I was always co-washing it! It grew so fast!

You might need to invest in a heat free style.

Uhh, sista @SmilingElephant , we need to chat!

I'm surprised it hasn't already been asked so I'm gonna do it.
How the heck did you go from Halle Berry to BSL in TWO YEARS?!?!
Spill the beans, ma'am!

Please?
Well ummm ...uhhhh :giggle:

I discovered a long time ago in 2015 after doing some measurements that my hair grows 0.75 inches a month, and not the average 0.5 inches per month.

So my hair grows pretty fast and all I do is focus on retaining.

PLUS I'm built like a spider, so BSL, MBL, and WL are very short distances from each other on my body

This is what I'm growing from. I got my hair chopped off back in October 2022.

My hair hadn't been this short since 2011 when I did my first Big Chop.

Yes, that's my birthmark.

Thanks for sharing!! :)
I haven't done henna in a long time. The goal this year is to have it done at least 4 times. Glad all this happened bc I totally forgot about starting Henna treatments which I was supposed to apply towards the beginning of this month

Henna is time consuming but worth it. It should help keep balance with daily co-washing.

I will have to forgo DC this Saturday since it is not recommended to DC after applying indigo for it to fully bind to the henna. I really don't like the red of henna and indigo hides it well. The indigo can fade after a number of washes from what I've read. If anyone has tips on indigo not fading with frequent co-washing, please let me know! :)

So I just shampooed and conditioned and put my hair in a claw clip.

I have one of those bonnets for long hair (living "as if" :grinwink:) and I'm gonna sleep with my hair loose tied up in it, if that makes sense, so it can dry some more.

I should've washed it this morning but I didn't have the energy. Nevertheless, I got it done lol

My hair looks so thin and see through to me. I'm trying not to be so hard on myself, so much has been happening.

Lucky lady!!
As a slow grower, I'll be watching your progress with lots of interest! :love2:

And, yeah, take it easy on yourself - you've been through a lot! But you're getting back on your HHJ and I'm sure you'll see the difference in your hair soon. :)
