I am going for a length I have never ever seen on myself before: Halfway over my behind, or hair that reaches the middle of my buttocks. I have never ever grown my hair to that length before. So, why not?! That's about a good six (6) inches of retention.

I don't think I have ever retained six (6) inches within one year before. I'm open to new experiences. Why not give it a go.

I'm in!

Natural, Relaxed, Texlaxed: Natural
Current Length: Four (4) inches passed waist length
Goal Length: Hair touching, falling to the middle of my buttocks. (A length I have NEVER ever seen before.)

Plan to reach goal length:
Regimen:
  • Braided buns and baggie.
  • Shea butter and Vaseline on ends.
  • Using homemade protein concoction, based on the Green Tea Keratin Reconstructive Formula, EVERY wash day.
  • Never using a brush during the week and only styling with my hands in the morning to reduct breakage.
  • Using Aphogee every eight (8) Weeks.
  • During more blowouts and MICRO Trims (thanks @keranikki !)
  • Using Snoop's Clay Mix to wash my hair instead of shampoo.
  • Consistently covering my head at night when I go to sleep.
Protective Styles:
  • Braid as pictured but put into a baggie.
  • Keep hair covered at night when I sleep.
Staple Products:
  • Glycerine, Aloe Vera, Oil and Essential Oil Pre-poo
  • Koalin Clay/Honey/ Goat Milk/Charcoal Mix to cleanse
  • Deep Condition with moisturizing conditioner.
  • Scurl, Gel,
  • Shea butter
  • Vaseline
  • leave in Protein after wash
  • Aphogee 2 Step Every Eight (8) Weeks

My hair did not grow down my back and over my behind. I still consider 2024 a successful hair year.
I have eliminated my velcro ends and have stopped my 12 Year Breakage Cycle and escaped from 12 Year cycle. I confirmed in December 2024.

Here is my end of year photo taken December 20th, 2024. Although my hair looks thin and wispy, it is a success because I have stopped my breakage and have silky smooth hair from root to tip. My ends are no longer velcro-ish. I know exactly what I did to get here. It feels so good to have finally escaped my 12 Year Cycle of Breakage.

Thank you for this challenge and this thread!

Ellooooo. I am in twists. I've been in twists since.. at least August. I think my hair is growing well, but it's going to stay in twists for as long as I can stand it.. it's a nice and easy hairstyle. I do redo them from time to time

I'm eating okay. I have exercised a few times since August lol. I'm drinking a good amount of water these days. I'm applying my henna when I take my twists out. I have a couple of new things I'm mixing in it but definitely keeping the mayo blend. I'm oiling my scalp often... that's pretty much it. I've been focused on skin care lately.

I wonder what next year will bring to my hair. If I can suddenly meet any hair goal, I would want the front and top of my hair to be APL, so I guess that's my goal next year.

Went back and read my post. I stuck to the majority of what I said I would do. I didn't quite reach SL. All of my hair is NL with some reaching collar bone. Going to keep at it and should have all of my strands at SL by the end of 1st quarter.

I have regular plaits in my hair right now. I was gifted the RevAir for Christmas, but I have to go out and buy some heat protectant and figure out how to use it before I can take a length check photo with it. I'll have to wait until the weekend for my end of 2024/start of 2025 photos.

I missed a few length check ins, but this was my end of the year progress and thank goodness for pictures because I was getting discouraged and thinking that my hair was at a standstill so this is January 2024 in January 2025.
I made my hair goal of SL!
