So I took my April Check-In photos in May...:look:

I do recognize that my twists are not all the same length and that I am slowly, but surely growing out previous damage, but I'm happy that I've got some twists at WL.

I'm not doing well drinking my water, but in the last two weeks I've started drinking protein shakes, eating more eggs and veggies and going for a lot more walks (close to 10k steps daily on average.) I've got to manage my water better as well as moisturizing my hair, but I think my hair is doing well. I learned last summer that as long as I wash my hair weekly, I can leave my hair alone through the week and it won't really suffer. I tend to keep my hair covered when I'm home so that I don't have to wear my hair in a ponytail for long period of time.

Hopefully I'll have more to show for this at the end of the year. I'm not sure if the longer sections will get longer still or if the rest will start playing catch up. I'll be happy with either.

I tried using my spin pins this morning. It didn't work in my medium twists. I think I need wear jumbo or mini. Jumbo will allow for a fluffier bun and the minis can be stretched into submission, plus there are more tendrils to work with.

This is the ultimate messy bun. Pretty much zero tension. I just very gently made a low tension twist with all my hair and I’m holding it in place with 4 spin pins. It’s not quite ready to wear out if the house, but for lounging in the house it’s perfect and it literally took less than 1 minute.

I think if when I washed my hair last week I had styled with gel instead of foam, my curls would be more defined and bun would be cuter. I will do that when I wash this weekend and see how my buns look next week

It looks good. I know you will have it mastered and looking the way you want very soon.

My 1st half of my year has been super busy and I've focused very little on my hair. Yesterday I finally got around to doing a complete treatment: protein, clarifying, moisturizing, K18 and conditioning. I air dried, flat ironed on low heat with 1 pass and trimmed about 1/2 inch off the ends. I'm still trying to find my color to color my grays

I'm happy with my progress since June. I can finally pull all my hair up into a small pony without having to use bobby pins. And my flat twist are getting easier to install and thicker.

My hair is wild because it isn't straight but I'm doing just enough.

I've added this photo to a couple of other threads today:

LHCF_June2023_Braids2.png

I'm so excited to see my hair like this. I wanted to keep these in for a couple of weeks, but I don't really know how to modify my ayurvedic routine to accommodate the braids. I feel like little bits of herbs will get stuck in my hair. So, I think what I'll do is convert these to mini twists and then just wear them (hopefully) until August.

I'm my ends look worse than they really are. Threading teased them. I'm going to do a min trim next week anyway, but I don't think that I'll be cutting most of that hair that looks like scraggly ends, unless it gets knotted somehow.

My hair is doing just fine in the twists I've been wearing. I'm sort of considering a bob cut. Less now than I was before taking a look at it to see what shape could work... I still think it's too short for perm rods which is what I want to wear. Maybe I should just braid it up

I’m pretty sure I have growth and some breakage… not quite sure why honestly so this has been a bit frustrating…

I’m just going to keep it moving and be gentle as I can. I was looking at old photos and my hair was simply beautiful… I’ve had a major set back :( but it’ll be ok!
I'm sorry you're in the midst of a setback @Kandygurl, at least you've spotted this now. I hope you can get to the bottom of what's causing the breakage soon. You hair will flourish again.

Thank you @GGsKin! I read a little, then took a nap after I posted. When I woke up, sonehow it was clearer to me that I need to up my moisturizing… back to the basics!

One thing I used to do was section in small parts and apply product… I started cutting corners until I stopped doing it and relied on cowashing and a rush job of applying to define my curls and fight frizz! Moisturizing used to help with both! Ha!

So, I just finished moisturizing my whole head! My hair feels so much better. I could have avoided this by staying consistent… lesson learned <3

Ok, so I washed/clarified my hair on Saturday… and I’ve been “refreshing” my curls with aphogee leave in and mango leave in conditioner.

I’ll have to see how long I can do this before I have to wash again… My goal is to lower manipulation/cowashing… This may be tempting as I received some hair goodies that I want to try out!! :)

I started wet bunning this week. I plan on doing this throughout the summer.

One benefit of moisturizing daily is that the outer parts of the bun/ponytail, especially at the top of my head, aren't drying out.

I also ran out of protein powder, but now have a jar so I'm going to start drinking protein shakes again tomorrow.

Back away from the scissors lol
Lolol I was going to get it cut and then the lady wanted to see what shape of was in so I took out my twists and got ready to go to her but then I was like... my hair is really healthy looking!! All I need is a few months and it's going to be where I want it to be! Maybe eating my big salad a day is paying off

Xx

I have henna (it has a few other powders in the mixture) and mayonnaise on my hair now. I may have to keep it on until the morning unfortunately because I'm having some abdominal pain. I may be able to rinse it off in the middle of the night but I hope I can sleep through

What kind of protein powder do you like?

@apple_natural Are you feeling better?

Thank you so much for the compliment. I've been trying to eat more salads and veggies as well. I'm on and off with eggs. I think both are good for overall health and our hair is just an expression of how well the rest of our body is doing.

The protein powder that I use is made from New Zealand whey. I only found out after I finished the tub that it includes probiotics.

Will send the picture shortly because it's not letting me do it from my phone.

Aww @apple_natural , I hope you feel better soon. ((HUG))
@apple_natural I hope you feel better.
@apple_natural

For some reason the site won't let me upload pictures. This is the name of the protein powder that I use. If the picture thing gets fixed, I'll add it to this post for reference.

SCHINOUSSA - NEW ZEALAND WHEY PROTEIN

Awww you guys are so sweet! There's always something going on. I'm doing just fine.

Thanks for the protein powder photo! I got one that is the flavor of fruity pebbles. Idk what I was thinking. It tastes just like cereal milk. I never drink cereal milk once the cereal is gone lol. I thought it was going to just be fruity I guess.

We have way bigger ads now. Boooo.

In hair news, I just have it pinned on two sides, which breaks my hair down the middle. I'm likely going to order some bulk human hair and twist it. I haven't tried perm rods on this current length. I think I want it a little longer. I am hoping to wear perm rod curls regularly. I tried it a few years ago. It was very cute
