I know I'm late but I want in! Although I missed the official start date for this challenge, I have been steaming already each week for about 5 weeks. I'm natural, I have a stand up steamer with wheels and will continue weekly steam treatments through the end of the year.

Steamed last night. I used a combination of oils under my UBH conditioner, then followed it up with masquintense. My hair feels very soft and shiny now.

I hadn't combed my hair in 2 days and my new growth was so matted that I feared trying to comb through it dry. I washed with Joico Moisture Recovery and then I steamed last night for 20 minutes using Silicon Mix. I am now 10 weeks post and it was a breeze to comb through my wet hair afterwards. I sat under my Pibbs for 20mins in a single ponytail.

My hair feels very smooth and only my front edges still feel somewhat dry. I only had to apply a small amount of moisturizer to remedy that.

Hi Ladies,

I have a question, how is the towel/baggy method different from deepconditioning with a plastic cap and a dryer?

I really need to buy a steamer. I attempted to do the towel steam method and this did not work as well as i intended. It was ok but it felt like more of a deep conditioning treatment them a steam treatment. My hair was not saturated they way it is when I get the steam treatment at the salon. I put my deep conditioner on then a shower cap then towel. I wanted to put another shower cap on top of the towel but I had ran out of caps. I will try it with the second cap next time.... if I dont have a steamer by then.....:yep:.

I've been experiencing the same thing. My steams only feel like DC's and I use the shower cap, towel and dryer method.

Under my steamer now with a combo of oils. Will Shmpoo, DC with Nexxus Deep Treatment under the steamer, then Humectress followed up with Kimmaytube leave in.

Trying to follow this regimen all month to get some retention been at the same length the last six months. urgh~!

Quick question ladies: Can one steam without washing the hair? I want to reduce manipulation of my hair and want to wash my hair only once a week, but I feel like the steaming is really good for my scalp. So I was wondering if I could put my hair in cornrows and stay under the dryer without necessarily washing and detangling.

Steaming with oils under my DC, be it moisture or protein is a winner for me. My hair felt noticeably more softer and moisturised and very tangle free, for a longer period. I'm going to ensure I incorporate this into my winter regi.

Of course you can steam this way. However, I don't know if you are going to get the maximum benefit from the process. With your hair braided, I don't know if the steam will reach every strand.

Hi Ladies,

I have a question, how is the towel/baggy method different from deepconditioning with a plastic cap and a dryer?

I think it's a combo of the moisture from the towel being trapped in by the shower cap. And add the heating cap on top, it keeps the towel moist, therefore warm. So it kinda mimics the action of the steamer, certainly not to that same degree. I'm no expert, but it's been working just fine for me.

Deep into my transition I washed, dc'd, and steamed in braids.Otherwise my hair would have been a tangled mess. I never had any issues.

Ya'll be careful with these steamers. I burned the back of me ear during my last treatment. I guess I got to close to the steam. Look like when you burn your ear with a curling iron.:nono:

Hi ladies

I'm steaming as I type (just had to get n the post while u steam tip:grin:).

I'll be under here for 30 minutes. Today I am only DCing with Aubrey Organics Jojoba and Aloe Desert Herb conditioner. I didnt opt for the olive butter today. Just wanted to switch up to see if I can feel a noticeable differrence.

My hair is feeling lush from all the weekly steaming though...

Just checking in... I'm still steaming.. at least once a week, my hair feels lovely afterward, I'm not sure how much i'm growing but Its definitely healthy!

I've been experiencing the same thing. My steams only feel like DC's and I use the shower cap, towel and dryer method.

I steamed with a shower cap on top of my towel this time (conditioner>shower cap>towel>shower cap). This worked a lot better for me this time. Not sure if you are putting a shower cap on top of the towel but you may want to try it. My hiar was more saturated and felt more moisturized. I was happy with the rusults unlike the last time... I still want a steamer though.

Hi checking in. I steamed last night with vatika oil and evoo for 5 minutes then rinsed and dc under steamer with redken smooth down, honey and Paul Mitchell 'the conditioner'. My hair feels soft and silky.

Just finished steaming with Jessicurl WDT. My hair feels wonderful as usual and a lot of the dc had penetrated.

I flat ironed my hair late Friday night just to do a length check. I planned to use the Split Ender so I did not use a heat protectant (bad girl)...anyhoo I was surprised that I only had to make 1 pass per section. Even though my new growth is thick and wiry, it was easier than usual (even with a heat protectant) to straighten it.

I steamed again tonight I'll be wearing a wig to work all week and its a good time to give my hair a rest. I applied ORS olive oil replenishing pak and mixed in some .99 tea tree oil from the bss to 4 sections and sat under the steamer for 30 minutes. I've never used an oil too and when I rinsed out my hair, I could tell the difference and this will be a new staple

After my rinse, my hair felt so soft and moisturized that I almost didn't use a leavein. I parted my hair into 9 sections, braided to airdry and sprayed Surge on my scalp (yes, I still have a bottle)

I used Cantu shea butter as my leavein and put Blue Magic coconut oil to seal my ends.

I'd like to join this challenge please.

I have a floor standing steamer from salons r us and I use it weekly, alternating moisturizing and protein DC's. So far the ORS is the winner when it comes to the best steaming results.

I've only been steaming the last month or two but plan to keep at it since I love it so much.

I have a lot of products I need to use up. I steamed with a hooded steamer last night using Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair mixed with Ausse 3-Minute Miracle. My hair was very soft, not quite mushy. I'm noticing some breakage but they are mostly long strands of hair. I noticed a bulb on the end a few hairs but not all of them.

I think I need to add protein and I'm going to steam using Mill Creek Keratin Conditioner this week. I'm tempted to use a little of my Aphogee 2-step protein even though it says to use dry heat. Has anyone tried the 2-step using a steamer instead? I don't think it could hurt and I don't think I need that intense of a treatment. I also don't want to waste such an expensive product on nonsense. Any feedback would be very helpful.

Just finishing up with my steam regimen of nexxus products. I think steaming is loosen up my tight curl pattern. So nice!

I steamed with a shower cap on top of my towel this time (conditioner>shower cap>towel>shower cap). This worked a lot better for me this time. Thanks MsWowfactor for this info, I really needed it! The first time I tried the towel steam treatment, it didn't turn out right and after I read your post I tried it just as you said and it was waaaayyyyy better this time. My hair is a lot more moisturized! I still want a steamer too, but may have to wait til Christmas...

Last night I was suppose to steam but I got too lazy and didnt want to be excessively rough with my hair so I wrapped it up until this morning. This morning steamed with homemade conditioner that I added more glycerin and agave too for 30mins
