When I did use a stylist -- and I've used several over the years -- I always took note of their hair. BUT I swear the ones with the raggedyist heads were the BEST stylists!
The best stylists were men or females with less than stellar hair or a bomb weave. I had a couple say they were too busy with clients to do their own hair so they opted for low maintenance.
Hmm good question! Mine has shaved off sides and a bleached blonde Mohawk - she wears it really well (but the health is questionable !!) ETA but her clients have good hair- she is the first stylist I ever had who goes on and on about my moisture / protein balance
Mine doesn't...but what's funny is tht the stylist who did have long hair (a man) ended up not being a great stylist. The ones that didn't were great stylists and knew a lot about hair. I generally don't take much advice unless it's talking about the science behind the product. I feel that because my hair is so sensitive/fickle, I have to try it out myself to really know what it will do to it.
After a few major hair setbacks, I am over protective with my tresses
i dont have a stylist right now, but the lady im considering going to is middle eastern w/ thick shiny lush APL-BSB hair...my past stylists (besides the dominicans) had jacked up hair, except for one. but they still did a good job.
I wouldn't go to anyone with jacked up hair, I also wouldn't feel comfortable going to someone if I did not know the condition of their hair (constantly weaved up).
My stylist like to try random things and it usually involves cutting her hair so no, she doesn't have long hair and I'm unsure if it's healthy since she's an experimenter. My main concern is as long as you can do mine right...I could care less what yours look like.
My favorite stylist does not have long healthy hair but I think its bc she is always doing stuff to it. She will dye it and re dye it like 3 different colors or something, then decide she wants a mohawk or whatever the latest trendy style is and cut it all off or something. Then, will get some micobraids (after telling ME I shouldn't get them! lol). She seems pretty knowledgeable about hair and I think if she really wanted to she could grow it out.
