Good thread.

Sometimes it shines, sometimes it just has like alittle "sparkle". Most of the time if it just has a sparkle its kind of dry.

I like to color it black, use clear rinses, and use porosity controll not only to lay the cuticles down for shine but also because it has like small glitters in it.

Also WGO (better than coconut oil fo me) on straightened hair, and a clearish product with alot of glycerin in it for airdried/curly hair (creamy ones seem to leave it alittle duller)

It also shines more like right after a flatiron, or in a well combed bun...not so much if its in curls or something or its not fresh.

I've been wanting to try a clear rinse, but I wash my hair so much, It'd probably be washed out in a week :ohwell:
How often do you wash your hair? How long do rinses last for you? How often do you use PC? I loooove the PC poo! My hair is more fickle about the conditioner. Sometimes it likes it, sometimes it doesn't :perplexed

Yeah my hair shines. But if I use the wrong products or too much of something it won't. So maybe it's in some of the products you're using.

The most I remember washing and doing clear rinses was like 2-3x a week and used Adore and Jazzings clear rinses. For me, they only seem to be visible like the 1st and second time (and they werent ALL that for me, just used because they are also supposed to be "good" for the cuticles), but anway, they seem to work better with heat. When I started washing 1x a week I would do them as a preopoo weekly or every other week and that was alittle better.

But now I use Beyond the Zone Color Zamz Clear shine. The best I've tried :yep: You use it as a leavein. I've got alot of shine compliments after this.

Got if from sallys its 4.2fl oz, I forgot how much it cost, I know it couldnt have been over $5... Im heavy handed but its thick so even if you wash daily or something I think it could last for about 2 weeks. It doesnt my hair (Which is very thin) feel any different or heavy at all.
Ingredients : Dieonzided water, pvp/DMAP Acrylates Copolymer, Polyquaternium-11, methylgluceth020, hydroxymethycekkulose, DMDM Hydanton, Methyl Paren, EDTA

Another one that you can use w/each wash is John Frieda Clear glaze, it cost like $10, for me it really made hair silkier/easier to comb more than shine, and it gave me splits after awhile.

I use the PC w/every wash, Now my hair isnt 100% w/this either :nono: It will leave a coating...for that reason I use it like overnight before shampooing w/regular products, or in between shampooing and conditoning, or actually mix it w/my other conditoner.

I Just tried the shampoo! I love cream of nature shampoo and it seems to work the same just get your hair cleaner. I think untill oct.31/today Sally's is having a buy the conditoner get the shampoo free.

Mine generally does. I always finish my styles off with oils and things though, so I think that's part of it.

I'm going to Sally's today! I was going to get some Silk Elements stuff, so I'll just have to pick up some Beyond The Zone  I was thinking about trying the John Freida glaze, but it's so expensive. And now that you've mentioned it gave you splits, I'll pass!!! Have you tried Elasta's Conditioning poo? Gives me the same softness and slippage as CON, but without the cones :yep:

Yes, I get the bling bling from time to time. Heat always does the trick to smooth the cuticles down. I like to use "blingage" products when I apply heat to my heat like CHI Silk Infusion, Humectress Luxe, Redken Smooth Down Treat, Coconut oil, Lacio Lacio, lil KeraCare oil sheen with humidity block. Whatever floats your boat.

Oh what silk elements stuff? :look: Im going today too LOL

Yeah that price tag needs to come down LOL, I think its the alchohol in it, I would use it again probally just not as much (was using it like once to twice a week)
YES! I love that one too but you have to search for that one around here.

Actually, that was post relaxer and I got that with glycerin and V05 conditioner.

And dying my hair jet black with henna and indigo has cranked up the luster in my hair. I love jet black hair.
For real? Whatever prettyface has on her hair in that siggy pic is shiny and wonderous. That isn't all camera flash I betcha.

I LURVE Silk Elements!!! :yay: I WAS gonna flatiron, so I wanted to get the olive oil heat protecting spray. But I'm just gonna rollerset. If they have an olive oil leave in, I'll probably get it. If not, I'll get the olive oil dc and olive oil mega silk conditioner  I'm so excited!!!

:yep:

I credit the glycerine/aloe vera mix -- it seems to sink into my hair and make it shine instead of sitting on top like a serum or something.
Vatika/Coconut Oil - Bliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing
Lacio Lacio - Makes my hair very shiny but I don't use it regularily.

I like a "dry" shine. Meaning if someone touches my hair, their hands don't come away coated with oils and serums, and shine spray.

Sorry I dont know where to get the oils from.
Could you tell me ??? I want more shine
I agree about the dry shine -- cant use heavy products on my hair.

You can get glycerin, aloe juice and coconut oil from a health food store. Lacio can be bought at www.beautyofnewyork.com or if you're lucky, you can find Dom products at your bss :yep:

My har gleams and shines. More so when it's straight though.

All hail coconut oil and staying on top of my night baggying/scarf method.

Oh and I can't forget the henna. Without henna I would have way less shine.

Yep, from what I've read in the henna threads, henna helps a lot with shine! I've henna'ed in the past before and I just ordered a box, so hopefully soon I'll get some bling too  :bling:

I want peeps to be like daaaang!! :cool2:

My hair has a natural luminence to it, but it doesn't really bling. I feel that if I were to straighten my hair with heat (which I never do but may do in the future on occasion), do the saran wrap treatment, and sit under the hood dryer that mess would be gleaming out of this world ...at least that's what I'd like to think .

Thats the first positive change my hair made when I started taking care of it. My hair started to shine without any products. When I took out my rollers, before I combed out the curls I would have a natural shine. No oill sheen, or grease. However, if i use nourish and shine or moisturizer sealed with oil then i get BLING.

My hair shines 'cause i rinse with cold water and also lots of conditioning.

Also Alfaparf shine mist is light and smells GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD:lick:
