Do You NOT Cut/trim your ends???

Until I can find someone who won't hack off all my progress-I will not be trimming.

I just dust as needed. I know there are still some splits and knots in there-but there will always be and I will wait till I get to my desired length to trim.

I don't trim, cut or dust. My hair grows very unevenly and I'd just be losing length. My ends aren't super great but they are okay.

Most likely when I am full SL or APL in the back I will probably blunt cut and then wait awhile again.

I don't cut or trim.... I do dust every 4 months. I think dusting defines the ends just fine.

I used to trim my ends after every touch-up; but I learned on here that it's not necessary. So I don't trim unless my hair has suffered some type of damage or breakage.

And since I had some breakage and split ends from the protein/moisture imbalance, I had to trim last month, and then again after my touch-up. But since my hair is healthy and strong again, I won't be trimming for a while. I'll try to make a schedule of doing it every 3 months. I keep track of when I do my trims.

I said yes I do not cut/trim my ends. My hair is braided 99.95% of the time. For now I just leave it be, keep it off my neck/clothing and I moisturize them like crazy. When I start wearing my hair in styles I may end up doing the search and destroy method

Yeah, same here. The main reason is its really hard for me to trim my own hair, and I've tried to get help but everyone's been afraid they would cut too much. I'm going to try doing it myself really soon, because my ends are a little raggedy.

i dont....now if i see to wear i have a split...noticable ill take my razor blade a slid it off that way im not loosing any length..if your hair isnt damaged theres no need too.if it is............then eathier you cut it off cause eventually it gona snap off or just remain haiving see through hair.eather way...it a personal decision.

I saw this guy @ Starbucks yesterday w/butt length hair he said he hadn't trimmed in 6 years . His ends were thinner than the rest of his hair, so he is way overdue. My hair would be that long/longer if I didn't trim...

I've been on the trim every 6 months plan and it's been working well for me. I just went in this week to have my hair trimmed and my layers redefined and my hair has never felt or looked better!

i think trimming ends is not as big an issue if you dont wear straight hair.

Ditto on everything you said. I do not plan to trim until I hit my first goal of BSL, my hair gets really uneven, or November. I can't remember when I started my CH challenge so I'll just call it November. So there are supposed to be no trims until then.

No big. Healthy hair doesn't need trims.

this is my 2nd transition and i'm not trimming/dusting/cutting my ends at all. i AM planning a BC in September but that is to get rid of all the relaxed part, not to tame split ends or whatever. after that, i do not plan to trim/cut/etc unless it is very obviously needed.

Some people just don't know when to say when. Somtimes you gotta trim the hair up...because it looks raggedy as is.
So.....I will cut my hair because I don't like raggedy thin looking ends.
But--I've never really been a faithful trimmer. Can count how many times I have actally had a trim.

I've never had a problem with split ends, either.
Just dryness.

These days I dust my ends but I'm focused on keeping the hair moisturized so I don't have to trim. I think moisturizing nips the problem in the bud...

I can tell you what happened to my hair when I didn't trim for 6 months. The ends got so thin and transparent, I ended up cutting of about 2 inches to get my hair to look like it did when I trimmed regularly. (Pics) What made me not trim? I had joined the forum and found a lot of people that didn't believe in trimming and tried to follow suit. Never again.

Well I was the type of person to always trim my hair whenever I got a touch-up, but now that I am transitioning I have decided to not trim or dust for an entire year and see how it affects my ends. If my ends are terrible at the end of the year and need a trim it really wont matter b/c I am transitioning anyway, but if my ends are still thick and healthy it will just prove the fact that all that time I was faithfully trimming I was losing progress.

I haven't trimmed in about 15 mos, and my ends are fine. If I see splits, I cut them, but I'm not planning to trim my hair.

I don't trim much but I do dust my hair all the time. I think it freshens up the feel of my hair and it's much less tangled after I dust/trim it. Those ends are really old and I like to freshen them up. It actually keeps my hair growing more (not making it grow but helping retain). In high school I refused to trim my hair and it never grew an inch longer so I'm too scared to ever do that again.

Now is this because it's much less tangled when you trim the splits? Less breakage helps to retain hair length. I am thinking about trimming a 1/2 inch off or just dusting. Trying to work up the courage.
