I have selective memory when it comes to hair so the answer to that would be.........."what was the question again?"

I am so in agreement - what she said:grin:. I know that Phyto is expensive, and there are products that are more and less expensive too. Phyto works for me. I spend money hand over fist for children and husband, and grandchildren; I spend on my hair products without totaling the monetary cost; I consider the cost the health and growth of my hair.

Now, of course, there is the new Alterna 10 deep conditioner I have my eye on - I feel a Valentine present coming.

Thanks:grin: That is my SouthernTease bun.

Yes, we have an excel spreadsheet of all bills & all income as well as how much is in savings/checking. We have been keeping it since June 2006 and it's gotten a bit more detailed over the years to include details for misc items i.e., Maya II wig is on the Jan 2009 list.

Dec 2008
Hair care spending: 2 styrofoam wig heads, Kimora wig (returned), bali girl wig, Aphogee 2 minute, flexirods, HE ltr & Garnier strength & repair condish

$64.63

I just had to thank you all for making me feel better about my spending. lol

Reg Wife...do you keep a spreadsheet or something? I love your avatar pic.

Yes, we track every penny that comes in and goes out of our household.

January 2009 hair care spending:
KBB hair milk, KBB hair nectar, KBB luscious locks, trader joe's Nourish Spa condish, Trader Joe's Refresh condish, jojoba oil, Maya II wig

$92.19

It all appears to me spent on my hair, but DH pay about $60 to have his locks retwisted every 4 - 6 weeks.

Yes, I spend:

$870.34 in 2004 (ridiculous! :nono:);
$703.02 in 2005 (ridiculous! :nono:);
$487.81 in 2006 (getting better :));
$660.09 in 2007 (what happened? :look:); and
$298.40 in 2008 (Met my goal: I spend less than $300.)

I didn't give myself a hair budget until last year. If my hair was looking fly during those years of high spending, I wouldn't have tagged them as ridiculous, but my hair looked like a HAM most of the time. I don't have much to show for the thousands of dollars I've spent. Live and learn . Having a small budget helps me to appreciate my money and the products I have and can buy.

I use Microsoft Money to manage my accounts and spending.

WOW, that is all you spend for the whole year?
I am ashamed of myself. I am keeping receipts from now on, maybe after I see how ridiculous it can get I will do something about it. I really have to get this under control:nono:
I went to the store just now, for one thing I ended up buying some bobby pins and ponytail things:nono:
Just ridiculous:wallbash:

FHI Platform Flatiron - $117
NTM Leave in - $7.50
NTM Serum - $7.50
Goody Magnetic rollers - $19.00

Happy Healthy hair - Priceless :yep:

(and I'm stopping by Aveda tomorrow  )

Girrrlll, If I did it would be a rap!! I do the worst thing ever!!! I only think of one transaction at a time. For instance... I'd say to my self it's only $260 for the hair t'hat's not bad. I'll have it for a minute it I take good care of it. Then when I got it sewn in i'd say to myself OK $250 plus tip and any other service I would have had to pay for anyway it will last me 2-3 months. Divide the cost by the months and its only about $100 a month. That's the same amount I would have to pay for a regular wash and set w a deep conditioner.:nono::nono::nono::nono::nono:nono:

i am very conscious of how much i spend......AFTER I SPEND :perplexed

I am in the make it work challenge so wont be adding any new products till may.......which means really cutting down on what i spend.

I am not yet at that stage of my journey where i can say i have found the best regime and products for my hair...............:nono:
*sigh*
Same here. I went to Whole Foods today and spent $60. My heart sank :ohwell: and then I sang "Ooops I did it again..."

In my defense (yes I also am in denial) I bought jojoba oil, avocado oil, grapeseed oil, a bottle of AO, aloe vera juice, bar of African black soap and some other stuff. I'm sure the $11 cold a** sushi didn't help either - anyway in my defense I mixed my AV, oils and AO together and made my own DC. Its something that will probably last me a good 3 months so that's not too bad. Next time I'll use Suave instead of Aubrey Organics.

It may overwhelm me. So far for this week I have already spent close to $65.00 and had to stop myself which I did I think I am going to ban myself from going to the hair section permanently until my closet and bathroom has nothing.

I keep track of every scent I spend, even if it's a pack of gum. I make sure to keep track of hair stuff so that I can figure out how long it takes me to use things up, which helps me figure out how much it costs per month. For instance my coconut oil is usually 15 dollars but it takes me two months to use it, so 7.50 per month.

But, I use a lot of food products for my hair so those are just part of the regular groceries.

Pretty much. I'm not much of a junkie, I'll probably spend $20-$30 on VO5's and Suave tomorrow, $10 on a bottle of ORS, and $10 on some more coconut oil. But that only happens a few times a year, and those are staples.

I do have a room full of crap, that gets used as needed.

**Sigh**
It is so unfair that guilt strikes so hard when I spend so much money on hair products.
If I was buying drugs or alcohol, I probably would be too stoned to even thing about the money (what do I know?):look:

We are all trying to do good things with ourselves here...why is that so bad? Or why does it feel so bad? I guess when we spend money that we don't have then we are in trouble. or if we use up money for the bills or something.

I guess it will get better as I get my staples together...come to think of it, I have gotten a bit better. Seriously!

no i dont but i rarely purchase anything hair related now

just one bottle of conditioner a month and im good to go

and i noticed my hair has been getting a lot longer too

LOL...this is too funny this topic came up. ..

First to answer your question I DON'T KEEP TRACK, but yesterday I stopped and got a quick "fix" at my local BSS and unexpectedly spent $138.00 on stuff I probably won't use.
Is worth it, yes it is. Just like someone else stated we will spend so much money on shoes, clothes, purses, or whatever your “fetish” might be…but my so happens to be hair products and I tend to turn a blind eye to the money being spent.

Nope!
I would have no way to justify how much I spend on my hair. I would feel bad if I really knew how much I spent on hair when I could have saved up and taken a trip or cruise or something, and my mom would just kill me.

I don't buy I'm sure my boyfriends mothe keeps track of it since she's the one paying for it. If I had to guess I would say about $120 a week

I try to budget for it and stay within that amount. I need to expand the budget. It use to be easy to slip things into the grocery budget but now my hair is demanding more sophisticated products:lachen:
What is that:nono:
I'm making up excuses to buy stuff....:wallbash:

What? Your boyfriend's mother pays for your hair product? I've never heard of that one...is it a cultural thing?

I used to keep track of my hair care purchases, but I don't any more. I even posted about it on the forum when I did.
