Ok, so I have this friend whose hair never goes far past ear length, known her since she was 12years old, when she was natural and texlaxed. No matter what she does, her hair does not grow past this length. Its a bit Ironic because she got that "good hair," her hair is very soft.

So I recommended Megatek to her even though I never used it myself. He has been using it for a month now, and says her hair is slowly thickening up, even though I really don't see any difference.

I would feel so guilty if megatek jacked her hair up. So I am asking two questions from the megatek users,
Did it jack up your hair? how and why if you know,
Did it not work for you?
Was it just a hassle with no visible results?

Megatek users, please shed some light

oooh you gotta give her all the info you can before she messes up and blames it on you

tell her all about not leaving it in for too long and protein overload and avoiding other protein products and the importance of moisture and Deep conditioning ASAP

others will chime in on what to tell her I am sure, thats all I can think of-I dont use it

how is she using it? i only use it once a week like a deep conditioner, and i always follow with a non-protein deep conditioner. no problems so far, just thicker hair :yep:

I totally agree with the bolded,i use it every other day and always make sure i keep my hair well moisturised to match the amount of mega tek i'm using.

I do now leave it in overnight and have had no problems (whatever works for her though really).

I use mega tek as a scalp treatment and not on the length of my hair.

Oh yeah and a good galic product for shedding,i take odourless garlic and it has definitely helped. The shedding for me started around week 3 but as i knew it was coming i was not too fazed by it. A lot recommend Alter Ego products (bit pricey but work)

HTH.

Ok So she uses it twice a week, she applies it only to the scalp, leaves it on overnight, and washes it out the next morning. She is deep conditioning and keeping her hair moisturized. I also told her to try garlic supplements, she has been taking them for a few weeks now. I hope what she is doing is ok

thanks for the comments guys, keep them coming

my hair thickened before i saw the change in length. i still love this stuff (although my use of it is intermittent) because i know for a fact that it gives me up to 1/2" growth in 2-3 weeks time. it's a wonderful thing to see your bangs go from the bridge of your nose to the top of your lip in that short a period of time. matter of fact, i'm scheduled to start back on it tonight, megassaging every other night for the next week, cause my next goal check in is next saturday and i would sorely like another 1/4". lol

The main way that MT can jack up your hair is via protein overload. It is a protein product, and allowing your hair to get too far out of balance will mess you up.

Other than that, I haven't heard of anyone hair getting jacked in other ways, though.

Your friends routine sounds great... :yep:

Sounds like she'll be fine with the way she uses it.

Like others, I advise that she step it up on the moisture and clarify her hair at least once a month.

I wash twice a week with WEN Fig (great moisture).
I also clarify once a month.

Thanks, I should tell her to start clarifying too, I totally forgot to tell her that.

I've gotten great results with Mega Tek. I've been using it consistently for 3 months now, applying it daily/every other day to my scalp (mixed with a little emu oil). I wish I had taken before pics to track my progress, but I have had tremendous growth with this product.

So, 26 people have responded to this now, and no one's hair actually got jacked up, this is promising. If anyone has anything new to share about using Megatek, pls post

That's how I applied it. The front and sides of my hair grew one inch a month for those 2 months I applied it (those were the sections I wanted to grow faster) and I never experienced shedding ever. I gave the rest of the bottle to my sister who has always complained of shedding and is natural like me but has fine hair. I did mention the side effects to my sister and she said it worked just fine for her.

I think that as long as you tell her the pros and cons she can at least look out for any warning signs of it not working for her hair.

The ladies on the forum really take time to care for, nourish, baby, etc. (me included) to reach desired goals, & overall health of their hair. Lol and they ain't bout to have something jacking up their precious locks & not tell:lachen:BELIEVE ME, with all the people in the MT/OCT challenge you would know!!

I don't leae mine in anymore, I just have the time for that anymore. I simply use it as directed on the bottle and no problems here either. It has thickened my hair long before I saw length and overall, I am happy with the results. MT will be a long-time staple of mine. I have braids in right now so I will not be using it for the next 8 weeks or so. This is by choice of course.

OK someone voted it Jacked up her hair just to spite me or something, as there is no post describing this. Well lets hope this was a big joke.

I think Megatek is fine it works, I stopped using it because my scalp would hurt for days and days and i would end up having sores all over my head. I waited until my scalp healed I just never started using it again I think it works, its just to strong for my tender scalp. It took a few months before my scalp started hurting me but I really didn't get as great growth as I thought I would have gotten with the Megatek.

I voted other. I've used MegaTek since September and I receive some growth from it, but nothing spell bounding really. It seems like normal growth to me. :ohwell: My edges and nape have always been a problem area for me and MegaTek made them worse and definitely thinner in those areas. I was using it every other day on my scalp only. Now I use it twice a week on my scalp for about an hour and my edges and nape are improving slightly.

Is it because you were applying too much at a time, not moisturizing after or did the Megatek just now start kicking in to help an area that was going downhill steadily overtime? In other words do you think you may have still got the thinning in those areas anyway since they had always been a problem area? Just curious.

Nope, the MegaTek made those areas thinner and my hair broke off in some parts. I moisturize and seal my hair daily, took garlic pills and DC weekly. I do think I applied the MT too much which is why I switched to twice a week and only leaving it in for an hour. Hopefully this will work.:yep:

Were you using it diluted with oils? I've seen some recipes that call for an almost 50/50 mix of oil and product. This may be gentler on your scalp.

I'm a little cautious about suggesting products to someone that I have never tried myself. I hope that she has excellent results . People seem to love the product.:yep:

All the best of success with your current regime!

Did it jack up your hair? how and why if you know:
Did not use it long enough for it to mess up my hair, but the few times I used it, well terrible headaches, so my verdict will be....
Did it not work for you?
No

what shampoo do you clarify with?

I know, that's why I am scared that she might have some bad results. And since I haven't used it myself, It will look like I was not looking out for her if it goes wrong. Well thanks for all the support guys!

yes at first i was using it with emul oil and various other oils sometimes with just one oil - when I did that I had a tremendous amount of shedding. So I stopped doing that and the shedding stopped but after a while my scalp really felt kind of raw. I kept MT in overnight sometimes and most times just on for an hour and rinsed it out. Still my scalp suffered it took about three months for it to start bothering me and I just never went back to Megatek. I got growth but not as much as I thought I was getting.

I spray my scalp lightly with water, then apply my mega tek mix every other night. I wash every other week, still use protein, moisturize twice a day. I havent had a problem with shedding, I also do coffee rinses though. I am in braids and it works perfectly though.
