COWASH CHALLENGE PART 3 OFFICIAL CHALLENGE THREAD (July 1-September 30, 2012)

⏳ Limited Access:

Prepooed with AO White Camellia. Cowashed with DevaCare One. And used Deva Curl One as my leave-in.

Spritzed my roots/scalp with a tea blend of hibiscus, marshmallow root, fenugreek, rosemary and burdock for a couple hours. Cowashed with AOHSR....crazy in that there has been no shed hairs as I'm airdrying, perhaps it was the spritz:perplexed:

Checking In,

I co-washed this morning with my boo- V05 Moisture Milks {{Passion Fruit}}, SAA, and aloe vera juice. I forgot to add a few drops of Rosemary EO this morning but I will be sure to add a few drops for my next co-wash.

Since joining this challenge (a strong two or three months ...) I have noticed great things with my hair. I stay in PSs but I can tell that my hair is darker, fuller, and richer. I know the results I have is a mixture of all of the things I am doing for the health of my hair but I recognize that my hair/scalp loves moisture. My scalp does not NEARLY itch as much as it did earlier this year and I attribute that to the frequency of co-washing.

I hope you all are doing well ... :yep:

NaturalfienD That mix sounds yummy! I think that a combo of cowashing and DCing the past couple of months has made a dramatic improvement in my hair too. My hair and scalp love moisture as well...Id cowash daily if my transitioning hair could handle the manipulation :) One summer several years back when I was texlaxed, I did (co)wash and gos daily for about 3 or 4 months straight...My hair thrived so much! I got a really nice growth spurt and it thickened up a lot too. If I end my transition and cut off my relaxed ends next summer, Im going to do cowash and gos all summer long!

Leslie_C ~ I am glad that you are noticing an improvement too! Back in the day when I was a slave to my hairdresser, I heard about co-washing and thought that it was crazy ... I am happy that I learned about healthy hair practices because co-washing is tha truth. Your plan for cowashing (and going) everyday next summer sounds great. I know your scalp and hair will love you for it- you will have some mad growth and lovely hair. :yep: Happy Hair Growing girlfriend. :)

I cowashed last night with HE Hello Hydration, VO5 Passon Fruit Smoothie, and VO5 Kiwi Lime Clarifying Conditioner.

Okay Ladies, let's finish out the summer strong!!

Grow your hair and retain inches by joining the 2012 Cowash Challenge Part 2! This Challenge will run in segments as follows:

Part 2: April 1st – June 30th
Part 3: July 1st – September 30th
Part 4: October 1st - December 31st
I will begin a new thread with each segment.

With that, let's grow, grow, grow!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:dance7:Part II of this challenge will begin on July 1, 2012 and ends on September 30, 2012!! :dance7:

RULES:
Cowash at least 1x/wkly. More if you'd like!
Report what conditioners you used and how your hair is responding.

MUST:
Post a starting pic and ending pic

MUST ANSWER THE FOLLOWING:
How many times per week will you cowash?
It's been so muggy here that I've been cowashing daily.
What conditioners are you planning to use? I use suave almond and shea butter, Aussie moist, and organic morracan oil.
What do you hope to achieve by cowashing? I hope to retain length, retain moisture, and overall improve the health of my hair. I'm also trying to grow out my involuntary bangs and while sew ins grew out the length they haven't helped that part do anything but maintain it's length instead of retain new lengths. As I get closer to bsl I want that hair to at least catch up a little.
How often (if ever) will you use shampoo? I shampoo and dc 1-2x weekly as needed at least once after a hot only because my cowash conditioners have cones in them.

You can join by answering the questions in a post and posting a starting pic & tagging me in the thread or by PMing me.:yep: I will acknowledge by tagging you in the initial post on this thread in the challengers list and thanking your post.

Feel free to ask questions, share videos, recommend products and discuss all other things helpful regarding cowashing!

This is from my last length check last month.

Question: Ladies who use multiple conditioners to CW what benefits are u seeing?

I don't know. I just like to switch it up sometimes because I feel it helps to keep my hair balanced by using a clarifying conditioner first, protein conditioner second and moisturizing conditioner last.

Question: Ladies who use multiple conditioners to CW what benefits are u seeing?

I use multiple conditioners moreso because I'm trying to figure out what works best. I have found that some conditioners cause my hair to shrink up and get tight, while others stretch and smooth it out.

Tresemme I liked the way it felt on my hair but it made my scalp itch. Yes to Carrots was rough on my hair. Giovanni SAS I like but not sure I would use it as a leave-in. Deva Curl One I like and I can use it as a leave-in. Deva Care One I don't really care for. So trial and effort so far.

I DCd with AO White Camellia for hours. Rinsed and cowashed with Deva Curl One. I like the way the Deva Curl One feels over the Deva Care. But when I look at the final result they both look the same. So will cowash with the Deva Care One tomorrow. I have more of that so I will use that up.

How many times per week will you cowash? 1x a week(maybe more)

What conditioners are you planning to use? Jheri Redding moisturizing conditioner, Ion Inspired by Nature Luxury Moisturizing Conditioner and Vital Plus Herbal Organics Conditioner

What do you hope to achieve by cowashing? I want to bring more moisture into my newgrowth. Hopefully, this will also help with retaining my length!

How often (if ever) will you use shampoo? I have to shampoo 1x per week.

Co-Washed today with Ion Natural Inspirations Luxury Moisturizing Condish. It felt good on my hair, made it soft. This will be a staple. Can't wait for them to make this in the 32oz. bottle!

@KaramelDiva1978
OMG you wouldnt believe how much I love this shampoo! I have tried probably 1/2 a dozen sulfate free shampoos and none of them made my hair feel good...but this stuff made my hair feel soft and melted tangles out when it touched my hair. It is definitely exactly what Ive been looking for! I cant find it locally either, but if you look on their website it will tell you where you can find it. I happened to be going to a bigger city an hour away, so I picked it up when I was there. It is definitely a staple. I thought I would like Sheamoisture, but it didnt give me any slip and I need slip.

@Diva_Esq would you add me to the challenge? I forgot to post a pic in my other post, but Ill post one in this one :) I just did twists for the first time on my transitioning hair. The ends look too scraggy to wear down, but it works for updos and Ill play around with rolling the ends.

Oh nnnnoooooo, now I'm going to have to order it from Amazon!!! I've heard nothing but good things about it and I asked the lady at Sally's if they're going to start carrying it, she just told me, "I hope so." Thank you for your review, but I keep hearing its the business!! :yep:

DCd with DevaCurl Heaven in Hair and then cowashed with Giovanni SAS. Used up the last of that so will be back to Deva Care One after this.

Cowashed with As I Am coconut cowash. Im gonna have to put that stuff in a bottle with a pump...it is too runny to be in a jar! But I like it! At first I was unsure, but after 5 or 6 uses Im sure I like it now...just not the jar lol.

Sitting here with DC in my hair deciding whether Im gonna wash it out tonight and bantu knot set my hair overnight, or wash it out in the am and twist my hair. Decisions, decisions. If Im gonna rinse tonight, Id better do it soon because Im getting tired!

Cowashed with Dove Nourishing Oil Care Daily Treatment Conditioner which I was able to detangle my hair pretty easily. May have to add it to my favorites stash.

The iPad makes me type funny.

I've already started doing this, but I am in! Trying to stay on track.

Report what conditioners you used and how your hair is responding:
Jheri Redding Moisturizing Conditioner,Vital Plus Herbal Organics Dry/Damaged Conditioner
and Ion Inspired by Nature Luxury Moistrizing Conditioner. These are my main 3 Co-Wash
products and my hair LOVES them and is way less dry!

How many times per week will you cowash?1-2x week

What conditioners are you planning to use? See above

What do you hope to achieve by cowashing?more moisture and softer newgrowth

How often (if ever) will you use shampoo? 1x week
