They are easy, low maintenance and make it easy to apply growth aides. I wash and leave dc in. I rinse a couple of days later or leave it in then get my play sis to braid it. I apply MN mixed w/ MTG, and Moe Groe Oil nightly. I spray with my glycerine and aloe mix. Then baggie every night for two weeks ( I usually only make it to 1 1/2 weeks) I try not to rebraid to often to baby my edges that my recent tree braids ripped out.:wallbash: Heres a pic of my current braids.

OK, I'm here to support this challenge -I'm a big fan of cornrows-
I won't be joining it because I just twisted my hair yesterday and I want to wear these for a month.

But to offer my support.
Here are links to my cornrowing tutorials and if anyone has any questions or needs help learning, feel free to PM me. It's not that hard to learn and it is so worth it.

You can do this ladies.
Happy Hair growing!

Lets say till Christmas. Is that too long? I started wearing cornrows when my hair started tangling really badly due to texlax on 4 z hair. They WORK, I'm chasing my lil bro to get him to take pics so I can post my current cornrows . Mook I LOVE your cornrolls and hair. You were my inspiration. Ty. Anyone in the mid west? Me and all three of my sisters can braid 10-15 bucks. I don't know if its ok to post that. Some one let me know. I would be SICK if I got banned and couldn't be surrounded by hair.

Ooh I'm a newbie so please sign me up, as this will be my first challenge. I've been wearing cornrows (under my half wigs) since I chopped in March.

Heres the back. Cell phone pics so you know they fuzzy.

There are two layers in the back. I dont know why she did that it makes it full and pretty but took a long time and makes it harder to apply my growth aids. That is all my own hair!!! I'll be back with a front.

I LOVE putting my hair in cornrows under my wig. Funny because I'm 5 weeks post and just put cornrows in my hair on Sunday. I plan to keep them in till the end of September..just wanted to support the ladies thats joining. Cornrows are great!

Sign me up! I want in until 1/2010 That should keep my single strand knots and random trimmings to a minimum. I plan on 3 weeks on. 1 week off and then get them redone

I want to join to!!! me, me, add me, lol
What are the exact rules.. Just and kind of CW's until December?? Whats the start and the finish dates? Im gonna CW under my wig's and half wigs until year end so this is purrrrfect for me..

thanks for the video mook. i may join because/dispite needing alot of practice. i am quite style challenged though, what kind of styles do you ladies cornrow because all i can think of is straight back and this really doesn't suit me.

You read my mind I just cornrowed my hair and was planning on rockin the wigs until DEC cause I can't stay out of my hair and I don't want it to start falling out so please count me in. I failed at the other challenges that I signed on for but I know that I can and have to stick to this one if I want to keep my hair on my head and not in the trash.:perplexed

So do we need to post beginning pics? I'm actually taking my braids from last month out and rebraiding tomorrow (Fri. or Sat.). Do we need to state what our starting length is too?

I'm so excited!! Great challenge.

I wanna join but I can't corn row that great. I can french braid though. Could that count? I'd still make them as small as corn rows and wear wigs till December.

i've had cornrows since i was about 4 weeks post. so it's been about 5 weeks; since i swim regularly and wash and dc in them, i try to redo them every 2.5 weeks. i only do the front half and i twist the back half. it's great cuz my comb touches my hair only when i redo the braids and twists. i'm lovin it!

This is perfect!!!! B/c I am trying to wear french braids till December but.......... does extensions count b/c my hair is (snapping my finger) that long :)

I just bought a wig since I'm going for a longer transition this time around so I'm in. I can wear them under my wig:grin:

It will be 1 wk tomorrow since I got my cornrows.. I cowashed them today and plan on having them in for another 2 weeks.. (hopefully I can make it..) my next cornrows I will add hair, because then I know they will last longer

Sign me up! I just finished a protective style challenge and cornrows were one of my favorite styles. I just do them with my own hair and keep them for about 3 or 4 days.

Here's my starting pic. Basically I just wash, DC, add some leave-in conditioner, serum, wrap foam and moisturizer and let it airdry in a ponytail with the scarf method. After it dries I cornrow it like this or with just two braids like in my avi.

When does the challenge start, and I want to flat Iron 1x more for the year, could I do that? Does it have to be cornrows all the time?

starting pic (sorry so huge):lachen:

ETA:Photo added.. I have about 1.5-2 inches in most areas..wearing this "style" under my wigs
