Comeback 2012 Challenge

Finally flat ironed my hair and got that much needed trim. My hair feels so much better to the touch. Can't wait to wash out the press.

Trust me when I say you didn't miss anything. lol My hair puffed right up and the roots reverted the next day after the press. I couldn't really see my length even with it flat iron so there was no cheating.

Guess I'll throw in an update:
-Yesterday I brought some WGO from Sally's and a new Wig (I needed something to throw over my head PRONTO! lol #gottastaycute)
Next week I'm due for a sew-in. To prepare for it, plan doing a wash and a protein treatment using the Alter Ego Garlic mask conditioner. I'm excited to see what the results will be for my next touch up!

at the moment i have GVP the detangler in my hair for the next 30mins. will detangle then try a new shampoo, conditoner and see what happens.

Im so happy I did my first roller set on my natural hair last friday. After being down about my hair for the past few months I was pleased to see that I'm finally making some progress. Not only has my hair grown but it's gotten thicker and heathier. YAY!!!

That's excellent news! It's always good to get that surprise of unexpected growth. I bet the roller set really looks nice! Did u do it by urself or did u go to a salon?

Just an update ladies! I'm 10weeks post right now and I've gotten a good amount of growth. I blow-dried and flat-ironed as best I could. I wore it out for the weekend and now its cornrowed up again. I'm planning a 6month relaxer stretch. I've been wearing cornrows (no extensions) since Jan 1 and washing and redoing them every week.

Bumping and checking in. The Viviscal and NAC have my hair growing at a nice pace. I have been growing and trimming regularly to even things up. Still not quite there yet.

1) Tell us about your setback, big or small. – I have experienced breakage and bad split ends and extreme dryness..Cut about 2 inches off a month ago
2) How do you plan to recover? I have a semi-new reggie, Im cowashing a couple of times a week, protective styling and keeping heat to a minimum, I will start rollersetting weekly since I found those Hard Mesh Rollers Ive been looking for for years.. I want to start baggying, but just don’t know how to do it, lol
3) What is your comeback goal? I plan on being BSL by December 31
4) Post a picture of your setback or simply post a starting picture. – Will use the pic in my siggy as a starting pic.
5) Every 3months, take a picture to document your progress. For those who are hiding their hair, you don't have to post the picture, but check-in with us on how things are going. – Will DO!
6) For those coming back from a length setback (or for anyone also interested), keep track of how many inches you've obtained either on a monthly or quarterly basis. On December 2012, tally your total inches, tell us what you've learned about your hair, and celebrate your growth!!!
7) No trims for 2012 (you may search and destroy split ends only) – CHECK!
8) Encourage each other and give helpful tips!

Welcome KandiB! Can't wait to see the progress you're gonna make!

1) Tell us about your setback, big or small. Well I ran into tangles a couple of days ago and instead of being patient and removing them I yanked and prodded until they became a knot. At that point the only way to remove them was through scissors. I took scissors to the middle of my head trimming it to about 3-4 inches. Once I took down my spring twists for a new install I realized the damage I had done and trimmed the rest of my hair to about 3-4 inches. I was sad at first but quickly got over it because now at least all the hair on my head has been treated well using the LHCF practices that I have learned

2) How do you plan to recover? (ie, new regimen, PSing, no heat, baby ends, etc) Protective Style, hat 4X a year for trims, dcing at least every 2 weeks because braids/twists will be my protective style and baby ends.

3) What is your comeback goal? (does not have to be a length goal...can be thickness, edges, etc) Thickness and healthy length. I do not have a goal yet.

4) Post a picture of your setback or simply post a starting picture. I don't have one and I halfway finsihsed twisting so I will have to take one when I take this install out
5) Every 3months, take a picture to document your progress. For those who are hiding their hair, you don't have to post the picture, but check-in with us on how things are going. I will definitely check in
6) For those coming back from a length setback (or for anyone also interested), keep track of how many inches you've obtained either on a monthly or quarterly basis. On December 2012, tally your total inches, tell us what you've learned about your hair, and celebrate your growth!!! Yep this time I plan on celebrating each stage:)
7) No trims for 2012 (you may search and destroy split ends only) I am a fine hair beauty so trims are a must:/ I learned that the hard way so no more than 1/2 inch trim each 3 months.
8) Encourage each other and give helpful tips! Got it

1) Tell us about your setback, big or small.
I wasnt making progress like I wanted so I stopped caring and kinda forgot about my hair. I started DIY stuff like relaxers and my hair started thinning....I think it was Mizani though cause a stylist told me its too harsh on hair. So I am trying to thicken it back up while its growing out and get back on my schedules.

2) How do you plan to recover? (ie, new regimen, PSing, no heat, baby ends, etc)
Stretching my relaxers longer, using my JBCO on my scalp atleast weekly, braiding it up and hiding under wigs and/or U-Parts, and going back to my old regimen.
Clarify 1x/mn
Wash weekly or biweekly
DC whenever I wash for atleast 3 hours w/o heat or an hour w/ heat
M&S nightly
Cowashing atleast 1x/wk
Protein treatments monthly

3) What is your comeback goal? (does not have to be a length goal...can be thickness, edges, etc)
Thicken my edges and nape area up, and thicken my hair up in general. I am not worried about length because I have some cutting to do....

4) Post a picture of your setback or simply post a starting picture.
I am in braids that have been in for 8 weeks, will take a pic this weekend once I take my hair down. But that will only be of length because I dont plan on relaxer anytime soon, maybe around 5/25= 20 weeks post or 7/6= 26 weeks post.

5) Every 3months, take a picture to document your progress. For those who are hiding their hair, you don't have to post the picture, but check-in with us on how things are going.
Ok I will do....

6) For those coming back from a length setback (or for anyone also interested), keep track of how many inches you've obtained either on a monthly or quarterly basis. On December 2012, tally your total inches, tell us what you've learned about your hair, and celebrate your growth!!!
Ok, I will check my length when I take my braids down.

7) No trims for 2012 (you may search and destroy split ends only)
Awww man IDK about this one here. I am going for health not length

8) Encourage each other and give helpful tips!
Okay

Hi, I know that I have not been here in am minute but today I did the Chicoro prepoo. I hair feels great and looks moisture I am adding this into my reg.

TrueSugar, i love finding new products that work for my hair!
ZebraPrintLovers, have you tried affirm relaxer? that's what I use. I also stretch my relaxers typically 3-3.5 months. I went 4.5months this time around. I've noticed a significant difference in thickness though.
winona, sorry to hear about the tangles and damage. You'll grow the hair back before you know it. I'm a testament to that. It always sucks though. But the months will go by and you would have gained even more than you lost. You already know how to care for your hair which is a good thing!

As an update ladies: I got a relaxer today after 18weeks (4.5 months) and i'm so excited about the progress. 3inches in 4.5months. I went from the 9 to the 12. I'll take straight pics next time i wash, but i got it curled after the relaxer. I'm exactly 1in from WL (the 13 on the shirt). Can't wait!

Relaxed my hair at the salon today. Reviewed the damage with my stylist. I begged her to cut it all even, no matter how short that would make it. But she refused. Then she showed me why. Its still pretty bad. There is breakage all the way up to my ocipital bone. I'm looking at another 6 months at least, IF I don't do anything to mess it up more.
