No she does not do her own relaxer, and she does'nt advise people to self relax.

She only not trimmed during her research.

She has a stylist that does what SHE says, not what they want.

if only i could find a stylist like this, they must be endangered species

I tried S-Curl but I like Elasta QP H-Two better.

Same here, H-Two is the bomb. In fact, I'm out and must go get more!

Re: Cathy Howse\'s technique

It's really weird. Cathy's Dew seems to work for everyone else except for me....

It just seems to leave my hair feeling hard and dry. It doesn't moisturize my hair at all.

Okay..here are the basics....

1. wash hair every three days.

2. Deep condition with protein each time hair is washed. (Use a moisturizer immediately afterwards!)

3. Air dry

4. Moisturize hair every day (first ingredient must be water)

5. Minimize use of heat(It's best not to use heat at all)

6. No brushes or blow dryers

7. Stop greasing your scalp

Well I'm glad I didn't buy her book. I've learned all this stuff already from surfing hair forums like the Long Hair Care every night.

Re: Cathy Howse\'s technique

Does anyone follow her instructions to the T? Do you get good results using the curling/flat iron technique after moisturizing? Is it O.K. if I wanted to try it on my daughters hair to make it easier to comb? (She just turned 5)

Re: Cathy Howse\'s technique

qtpi,

I think her flat ironing every three days after she washes is excessive. However, you can use a dew like product to flat iron. If you flat iron your hair every three days, it is bound to become damaged.

She recommends her Dew as a moisturizer but I didn't like. I tried S-Curl but I like Elasta QP H-Two better.

Re: Cathy Howse\'s technique

I have followed her instructions, not to the letter, and I feel that my hair has benefitted.

Re: Cathy Howse\'s technique

qtpi - i dont think there is anything to follow really =/
Pookie25 - i learnt everything from this board. When i got her book i was so disappointed because i already knew most of the stuff she was talking about in it and i did most fo the stuff from before anyhow

Re: Cathy Howse\'s technique

O.K, thanks everyone! So what should I do to soften/make her hair easier to comb?Conditioning.....? She's got beautiful hair, just lots of it, and thick!
