I searched to see if a braids challange was going on, but no such luck:perplexed

I want to keep my hair in braids for the rest of the year simply because it is very low manipulation and maintence. It is also much easier to apply my growth aids when I am wearing braids. It would be much easier to reach my goal if I wore braids, and I know the best way to keep up on that is to have a buddy or buddies involved for motivation, plain and simple:grin: We can all reach our goals! If anyone wants to join in with me, here are the rules:

-you must keep your hair in braids until December 31, 2008.
-you must moisturize everyday, NO IFS, ANDS, OR BUTS ABOUT IT!!!
-you may take 1-2 weeks after taking down one set to DC and baby your hair, then its back to the braids.
-a maximum of up to 3 weeks without braids is allowed ONLY after a relaxer.

Let's check in every week or however often you feel. Who's with me? HHG!!

I'm in too! I've been in braids for over 2 years now. I'll be taking this set of braids out within the next 2 weeks, then getting it pressed for a week or so. After that, it's back to braids!
 
Hey there

I would definitely like to joiin...though can I cheat...:lachen:

I plan on using braids and kinky twists with extensions instead of just braids

on a side note has anyone got good results with the crown and glory technique thats what I am doing rite now and I started in April

oh yeah definitly! i use extensions with my braids anyhow.

I LOVE YOUR BRAIDS!!! they are soo neat and beautiful! the set im going to put in in august is going to be that small too.

definitly join even if you feel like you cant stick to it until December, I'm sure you'll still reep the benefits. And you can keep your hair out of braids for up to two weeks in case you get to missing your hair really bad. I know I'll be missing me hair real hard!
 
i hope nobody is itching to take their braids out and not skipping days to moisturize :spank:

i love having to not worry about my hair in the morning and still know that it is doing well. i'm really loving this challenge:grin:

what type of hair was used?
hoe were the ends done?

Welcome!
i use toyokalon, the brand is Care Free. it comes with the ends curled already. i braid it past my hair and use crazy glue to keep it from unraveling.
 
hey can I join? My hair will be in braids but it will be my own hair, i plan to keep it in until December 30th (when I get my touchup). I shouldnt have the need to use up my 1 - 2 week because that will only cause me stress and .... that's about it
 
I would like to join this challenge.

i am gonna get my braids done today.

I am going to take pic later on tonight when they are done and post them in this thread and try to update my Fotki (if I'm not too tired).

i'm in! i just put in a new set of yarn braids about 2 weeks ago. i plan on redoing them every two months 'til the end of the year. :grin::grin::grin:
 
Hey Im just checking in

hows everyone doing...I have had my kinky twists in now for 2.5 weeks and started to witness what I believe is up to 0.5 inches of new growth (varies just slightly in places)... is that the average?

I was wondering if this could be down to washing every week making the twists come looser though they dont feel loose...

will try and upload some pics

Uh, yeah..I'm getting them because of you actually. I was sharing your Fotki at work today and my co-workers marvelled at the fact that you did them yourself! I am getting them done professionally, but plan on doing the second round in August by myself :yep:

surely isnt my average! i have about .25 in of growth, more and less in different places, but that's only because i'm using BT everyday. but since you are washing every week, always keep in mind that you will have some slippage.
 
I'm in.

I had a set of kinky twist done in March and took them out two weeks ago. Will be redoing them tomorrow. I plan on wearing braid/twist until next March.

I've been wanting to get kinky twists for the longest.
I'm gonna have to get them in 2weeks though because I just got a touch up last week. But I'm definitely doing this.
 
:perplexed i might want to join (not sure yet). im currently in the twist your hair for growth challenge and that lasts until september (i think) we only get 5 days passes for that one (so far, so good)

okay i just made up my mind, im gonna join but i'll be doing twists instead of braids until sept and then switching to braids. so i probably wont be posting that often until then (if thats ok)

my June braids are looking a HAM because of massaging BT on my scalp everyday. i've got nice growth but my boxes are big so you can imagine how my roots are looking. its a sad sad thing because these braids are staying in for a good 3 weeks more if not longer.
