Braids Braids Braids til Dec '08 Challange!!

What are "latch hook braids" ?

Baddison, this is hard to explain but let me try. Latch hook braids imo are faster to install than regular braids. You braid your hair in cornrows and use a latch hook tool to install pre-made braided hair. It's similar to tree braids, the styles are really pretty too, so if I wanted a curly look, this would be perfect.

how long could latch hook braids last?!

I wanna get braids but my hair is so long it's hard to find hair (human) that is long enough. Any body know and websites. I think I'd need 22-24'' or 24-26". I like at least 3-4" of loose ends.

For longer hair, have the braider stretch the longest braid hair you can find. I've seen them do this in the shop w/ short hair to make it long. You just take the amount of hair that you want to use then pull a few strands at the top to make it longer, then a few at the bottom, and keep doing this until you get the length you want. It also make the ends look more natural vs. blunt.

im soooo totally in its ridiculous!!! lol, i was thinking i was gonna do the EXACT thing today, so im really excited to see this!

your braids are verrrrrrrrrrrrrry pretty in your signature.. are those just simple box braids? how much did they cost? how long do you plan on having them in for?... would i be able to keep braids in like those for four months?!

I have just finished 6 weeks in braids. Thery were starting to look a hot mess since I have been using my sulphur mix on them as well. I have lot of new growth. I am takin them down tonight so that I can deep condition and clarify my hair and put them back in. I am nly planning on having them out for one week at most.

Wish I had seen this earlier, I got my first set of kinky twist in May and now I'm in individuals. I already planned to keep my hair braided until December or a little longer because that is when my baby will be born. If it's not too late to join I would like to join, if so then, I'll just document in my fotki.

For anyone who wants to join this challenge, please send me a pm so i can add you to the list. It's less time consuming to do it that way. Thanks and happy hair growing!

Ladies, I couldn't afford to get my yarn braids replaced, so I'm doing the bootleg version and doing my hair in small braids all over my head. :lachen:Thank goodness this head is natural; these braids have staying power!

Last night I put in my second set of individual braids.

I noticed frot he constant moisturizing. My hair was so strong and soft when I took it down. I forgot to take pics but I'll try to remember to do it when I take it down in 8 weeks

I am out of the braid challenge but I'll be back soon I'm sure. I'm too lazy to be messing with my hair every morning so that's how I know I won't be out of it for long, but I need to save up to get the 30" hair that I need...if no one buys it for me first. :p

Add me, Add me... I been in braids since June '08... right now I've done a DC (Saturday night into Monday - Overnight DC) and then sponge rolled it, went to church.

Then I did yard work...and it was so great just to go shower, scrub my hair ...now im in a light conditioner w/ hot oil treatment wrapped in a towel... I'm scheduled to get my braids back in on Tuesday

My braids have been in for almost 5 weeks. I want to take them out this weekend but I don't have the hair to re-braid it at this point.

I've been able to wash my hair about 6x since I've had them in and they don't look a hot mess!

Anyways, How we all doing on this challenge? Just about 3 months left!

I've had my newest set of braids (individuals) in since Sept 8th. I hope they'll stay neat for a while. It took my baider over 10 hours to do these suckas!

Started my braids on May 4th '08....I'm so excited. This challenge has been really good for my hair. I have seen tremendous growth. I'm considering going for a full year, all the way 'til May 4th '09:yep:
