Braids Braids Braids til Dec '08 Challange!!

my june braids only made it to 16 days. my boxes were big and using BT everyday caused my braids to look a total mess in a little over two weeks. im conditioning my hair now and will be cornrowing my hair within this week.

I could of sworn I joined this challenge already but I can't find my reply saying I did:perplexed Either way if I'm not too late I'd like to join. Since the end of may (except last week due to random circumstances) I've been getting weekly cornrows and planned to at least until the summer was over but the end of the year will work fine too!

my rows are looking a bit fuzzy - havent had them in for a week yet and i have somewhere to be on sunday . So im going to wash and do them over on Saturday

My braids are getting ready to hit the two week mark. Using Mega Tek has made my braids look a month old already! I will rebraid my hair in a few days. These braids aint going no where til August!

Can you please add my name? I recently had a hair disaster and have to grow my hair back. Yesterday, I made an appointment to get my Senegalese twist put in, and now I will be a slave to the African Hair Gallery for a year. I've already devised a plan and they are as follows:

Senegalese twist.
Mega Tek - diluted with water and will massage on my scalp daily.
Mega Tek Rehydrant Spray mixed with the Avocado Mist diluted with water on my hair everyday to retain moisture.

I'm getting them done Sunday, so I will FINALLY take pics and post. I guess it's a good thing since I workout and do not have to be bothered with my hair.

Is it too late too join? I was looking for this kind of challenge and I couldn't find it. I had my extensions for about 2 weeks now

Funny this should show up today. I put myself on an end of the year braid challenge a week ago. I installed kinky twists last weekend and plan to rebraid as necessary.

I'm using the MegaTek and Jojoba/Horsetail oil (at night) on my scalp along with moisturing with Infusium 23 (in the mornings) daily.

Can I officialy join challenge too?

Last time I wore braids was in 2004 and I had a dry brittle tumble weed for hair when I took them down (after 4 months). This time I doing the C&G method. :yep:

Count me in!!

I hope it isn't too late to join. Right now I am in cornrows since June 19th. I may do individuals later. I take down every 2 weeks.

Can I join? I got extensions put in on Tuesday. I plan on keeping them in until August 20th. I might keep them in longer if I can get them redone around the sides and front. I'm planning on staying braided until next year.

Hello Ladies!
I would love to join the challenge! I will plan on braiding my hair this week. I have been eyeing the crown & glory method for awhile now and I am dyeing to do it. I can't wait to stat this journey with you ladies!

Please add my name to the list, i'd like to join. Im not going to put in braids until end July though because im twisting my hair for a bit.

I love braids, it keeps my hands out of my hair and makes it easier for me to take care of my hair, plus it saves me so much time getting ready in the morning.

Hi, can I join?
I have been in braids for 2 weeks. I wash and dc weekly and apply MTG everyother day. I plan on rebraiding myself till the end of year.

Now this is my kind of challenge. I could stick to this one. The only time i would not have braids is for my birthday (11/23) and New Years Eve but other than that i'm in. This is perfect for a college student like myself because its very little manipulation to the hair so COUNT ME IN!!!

Please add me to the challenge

This challenge could not have come at a better time. I'm currently sporting cornrows, and just planned 2 days ago that I want to wear them until December.
My rows have hair added, I wear them for about 4 weeks, I will use scurl, ovation/megatek and take out after 4 weeks, maybe take a small break like 1 week and redo!

I want my hair to grow alot by December..

HEllo Corgito!
:welcome3:What types of braids are you wearing? How do you DC with the braids? Do you like the MTG?
I ask these questions because I am planning to put micro braids in my hair and I was wondering how I would DC...I am going to use Braid Spray and Infusium 23 daily, but I wasn't sure how to DC. I also have BT to use on my scalp daily.

I just washed and deep conditioned my hair. I shampooed with diluted Shampoo and then diluted some conditioner and put a plastic bag over my head. Then I used my blow dryer for about 5 minutes and then took the cap off and used the dryer for about 2 minutes. Then I rinsed and Shampooed again. There was really no way I could use the conditioner without it getting on my scalp. Next time I'm going to condition first and shampoo second. After I rinsed out the shampoo I blowdried until my hair was about 80% dry. I was debating about whether to spray my strengther or braid spray on, but decided against it. Also my hair isn't frizzy at all.

I have taken my cornrows down and I am now working on my individuals. 8 hours down, 4 to go. ( maybe longer becaus I have an infant and preschooler running around)

Can you add me?? I already have them in !!!!

I searched to see if a braids challange was going on, but no such luck:perplexed

I want to keep my hair in braids for the rest of the year simply because it is very low manipulation and maintence. It is also much easier to apply my growth aids when I am wearing braids. It would be much easier to reach my goal if I wore braids, and I know the best way to keep up on that is to have a buddy or buddies involved for motivation, plain and simple:grin: We can all reach our goals! If anyone wants to join in with me, here are the rules:

-you must keep your hair in braids until December 31, 2008.
-you must moisturize everyday, NO IFS, ANDS, OR BUTS ABOUT IT!!!
-you may take 1-2 weeks after taking down one set to DC and baby your hair, then its back to the braids.

Let's check in every week or however often you feel. Who's with me? HHG!!

I just want to make sure everyone is following the rules. Two weeks max without braids, three if you just relaxed (just put that in there, i'll add it to the first post). Also remember to moisturize everyday ladies, that is key to the success of this challenge. Good luck as you all continue on this challenge.

Thank you for adding me!!! I don't know if I posted this on this thread, but I will be in senegalese twists until next year this time due to a hair disaster. So far, so good, especially with me working out 5-6 days a week...and it saves me time getting ready in the morning....

Thanks for the refresher on the rules. I've been good. Cornrows out on Monday afternoon, wash/DC/moisturize Monday nite, cornrows back in on Tuesday nite. Basically just 24hrs between out-and-in again. But on July 11th, I switched to box braids. Took me all of 8hrs to do my own head:blush:. I will be replacing individual braids as needed, but for the most part, these will be staying in 'til the end of my challenge in december. Moisturize nightly as usual, and still washing and conditioning twice per week with braids in. I think I should be OK:yep:........right?????:perplexed

Aw! I missed this challenge by about a month! I've been wearing braids for one year with the exception of the few weeks I had a weave in (didn't go too well), so if you accept late comers count me in!
