Braids Braids Braids til Dec '08 Challange!!

I love braids

I'm in , gonna braid up my hair soon, although I end up missing my hair while in the braids, I'm gonna try to do a braid run for winter

I know just how to keep them up since I transitioned with them years ago

Will I be able to use mt with micros or are micros too damaging to hair

If you won't be doing your own hair, I say don't get micros but rather follow the Crown and Glory advice and get medium sized braids and then follow that regimen. I don't know anything about MT but I can't think why you wouldn't be able to use it. Unless it causes build up, which might be a problem with braids matting at the base. *shrug*

I got my second set of individuals Sunday, hopefully these will last me until Nov and then I will probably get a set of cornrows or something because these things are expensive! I got my first set of braids in May and so far I have seen good progress.

im on week 2 with my second set of kinky twist, im not sure if i will make it 6wks,my twist are slipping something terrible and i dont feel like re touching them this time. Maybe I will... Im so lazy, and so tired of kinky twist. I was thinking of maybe doing individuals around the perimeter then doing the crochet/latch hook thing with bulk hair( you know the kind they do tree braids with) for my next set. Im trying not to relax before the end of the challenge but its getting harddddddddd.!!

I'm so happy everyone is still on board with this challenge! I have fallen in love with the freedom of not having to do my hair every morning  I'm going to continue with the challenge even after this year.

I just went back to page 1 for the rules:

-you must keep your hair in braids until December 31, 2008.
-you must moisturize everyday, NO IFS, ANDS, OR BUTS ABOUT IT!!!
-you may take 1-2 weeks after taking down one set to DC and baby your hair, then its back to the braids.
-a maximum of up to 3 weeks without braids is allowed ONLY after a relaxer.

Has everybody been following the rules? ooops, I def haven't moisturized everyday.

I'm want in. I am actually going to do this for 6 months to see where my hair goes. One thing though, should you wear your braided hair in protective styles?....

The rules are very important and essential for getting the best results. It's really easy for your hair to get dry and damaged if you don't mosturize everyday. The goal is to retain length, not have it break off at the same rate it grows.

Speaking of length, I was thinking for a reveal date of Jan 1, 2009. Just before and after shots. Is that cool for everyone?

Thanks for bumping this thread...I'm still in braids and enjoying every minute of it! I'm certain I'll last through the end of the year. I hope everyone else is doing well with the challenge...

Yeah...still here, too. December is almost upon us. I'm actually considering staying in braids past the deadline. I've been tremendously enjoying the low maint. and the exceptional growth. This has been so good for my hair.

i just put in a new set of yarn braids & posted some pics in my fotki & updated my avi!!! it's growing quite nicely!

I have been enjoying this challenge immensely!! It has done wonders for my hair. This is the best thing I've ever done. Looking forward to joining another challenge right after this.....I'll do "BUN FOR GROWTH" for six months starting Jan 1st, 2009!!!:grin:

I'm gonna be a challenge queen...LOL!!! Back-to-back & Belly-to-belly:lachen::lachen:

I'm still in braids! Just checking in to post. I do a rebraid in January or so... Im hoping to go to Miss Jessies in April to get my hair done w/ a silkner... I want a decent amount of growth and healthy hair before I go... :)

I had to suspend the braids for a bit cause my edges started to thin out. Not totally noticeable, but to prevent further damage, i'm laying off the braids for a while.
