Ateya: Rubberbands on wet hair????

I like Ateyaa and what she does usually works for her..I don't do Pony's so I just did not pay much attention to this video.

To answer the question, I haven't used regular rubberbands (the lil black ones) since being natural.

I used it when I was relaxed, and it didn't bother my hair, really. When wearing a half-up/half-down style and rollersetting the length, I would use a black rubberband to secue the ponytail.

I haven't had a reason to do that now since there are better options to secure ponytails, but if I did need to use them, I would make sure to soak the rubberband in a bit of oil or something.

I noticed that too. I've noticed a lot of things. She handles her hair so roughly!!! Have you seen the way she combs it out after she shampoos? I wouldn't have any hair left on my head.

I like Ateyaaa and am not bashing her, but she could have hair down her back and not need extensions with her knowledge about hair.

She was here before...last summer if I recall correctly. And all those threads ended up locked or disappeared because folks don't know how to act right.

The problem is not even the tone or the way people talk to her and about her. It's actually the bold. There's this assumption (that comes from having a certain LHCF high and mighty attitude) that there is something wrong with her hair and it needs to get "back on track". When in reality (especially before her recent setback) homegirl probably thought her hair was just fine.

I may not like her hair or her techniques, but I don't like a lot of y'alls hair or techniques. But I don't assume that you have a hair issue that needs to be "fixed" just because I think my practices are better.

Ateya don't even want y'alls stanky "advice". Leave the girl alone.

Which made me post the question, again: WOULD YOU USE RUBBERBANDS ON YOUR WET HAIR? The only reason why I post the video..is because I wanted you to see how wet her hair was..and the style she was wearing it. I never thought I would say this..but I hope this thread would get locked..because it's not serving it's purpose AT ALL.

On another note I learned something new from that video! Who knew you could use large amounts gel to hold in tracks???? I didn't. I'm amazed, although a bit disturbed, amazed none the less.

I use the ouchless goody bands on my hair and I'm very careful not to make it too tight. I prefer the cotton ones really since they pull less hair when I take them off.

When I was relaxed I couldn't wear rubberbands. Ponytails were a big no no for me when I was relaxed.

BTW I really could care less what Ateeya does. Apparently 23,000+ people do because that's how many subscribers she has. More power to her. If I did half the stuff she does I'd be bald.

Okay..i was just watching Ateya put a ponytail in her hair (with extensions)..and she was looking for a rubber band to put on her soaking wet hair. I personally have never put a rubberband around wet hair. I was just wondering...is this okay?

Not for nothing OP but I went back to ur post cus after a while I forgot what the thread was about and I see why it went this way. U didn't start off asking what we would do u asked if it was ok, kind of like her method needed approval. Which it doesn't for the record. It's ok for her. And since u said u personally never do it I'm assuming it doesn't work for you sooooo...

Sorry but u know the deal, the ladies can only call it how they see it.

i think her end result was cute but she needs to learn how to take care of her hair. not only is it sooooo thin but it is relaxed bone straight.
the good thing is she is super positive and she is still using her reconstructor. also you can tell that her hair did grow but i would take thickness over that.

eta: almost forgot to answer the question. i would NEVER but rubber bands on wet hair but thats just me. i do however use the goody bands as a head band on the front of my hair when its still wet or damp and have had no problems.

Well first i want to rly answer the OPs question, IMHO no its not ok to use rubber bands on wet hair..especially wet curly hair.

Ateyaa can do her hair exactly like she's been doing it, and have hair down her back. The only reason she don't have hair down her back is because she cuts it sooo much. She likes. Her hair even at all times. Her hair was healthy and beautiful, and it still would be if someone had told her that she couldn't wash roughly after a sew in.

What she's doing is working for her.

But of course the people that don't like her is gonna use her mishap to say that she don't know how to take care of her hair.
