I knew you ladies would be all over this story when I saw it today.

The quote below seems like they weren't removing her from the advanced program, just to another classroom. That makes it a little better.

I'm glad you mentioned this because I was about to say!

I use an ORS product and it has a very mild smell, certainly nothing to remove a child from class over, especially if you are standing in the front of the class room and the child is sitting down some feet away from you. :ohwell: That teacher seems juvenile to me. Why would you wait to the end of the year to make it an issue like this?

ORS Olive Oil Moisturizing Lotion doesnt have a strong scent at all IMO.

How did the teacher determine it was this childs hair? Did she going around smelling the childrens hair or assume it was the Black Child? How did the teacher know that other children couldnt have had similar ingredients in their products?

In one article it said that the teacher commented on being allergic to the girls hair, thats ridiculous all hair is made of the same thing.

There are so many other ways this situation could have been handled including contacting the parents and asking for her to use a different products if she is really allergic. The teacher was DEAD WRONG especially if this had been going on for a year. I would seriously question her proffessionalism as well as her Maturity in teaching this class.

Personally, I would be pissed.

You move my child to a regular class but still leave her with her advance course work??? Who is supposed to help her in there? Who wants to sit in a class full of "regular" students and listen to their curriculum and not the one she should be learning. It's stupid and I would be cutting up in the school and at the district.
