Saving $700 is amazing!!! Hopefully the price of your starter locs doesn't change too much!have my loc consultation in a few days...hopefully i'll be able to get my starter locs done soon. Will wash/DC/ blow dry before my appointment friday
morning. Starter locs w/ coils cost $95 but I have SL thick 4c hair so price may increase for me.
also successfully completed january no-buy which wasn't hard. I realized I buy too much stuff. I saved over $700
Will return back tomorrow to read the loc thread and update yall on starting my february no-buy.
Oh congrats on going back to school! Very exciting!@ckisland yes hopefully it won't...keeping my fingers crossed. I'm enjoying seeing my savings grow. Just gotta focus on getting a higher income. Will be heading back to school in the fall..doing online classes only since i work during the day.
Congrats on going back, especially for that specialty. My facility is currently experiencing an existential crisis of psych APNs and we are not even the only one in our region. So traveling will be in the cards. And since telehealth is booming, once you buy your house, you'll be able to work from home if you get travel weary.thank you @sunnieb and @ckisland! I actually already have both an associates and a bachelors degree. I'm going back for an accelerated BSN and i've really wanted to work in psych. I do eventually want to be a psych NP and maybe tack on a healthcare informatics cert. Definitely want to be a travel NP as well. I've realized I just tolerate my current job and i feel very bored and unfulfilled right now.
I want to be able to save more, travel and buy my first house
Looking forward to the update. Hope everything went well.washed and deep conditioned my hair before letting it airdry in braids. I was gonna blow dry it but i lost both comb attachments smh. Loc consult is in 3 hours!
Hope you enjoy your new cut.I will have to bow out of this challenge. I cut my hair, so I’m going to enjoy it for awhile before I decide to grow it out again. I hope everyone makes their goal this year!
loc consult update: @faithVA
I went this morning. She said my hair was nice, thick and healthy. She recommended i start with coils but once she said they could unravel, I asked if I could just do two strand twists instead, just to be on the safe side. She said it didn't really matter how you start locs but I knew i wouldn't be comfortable going to work everyday with those coils. It will make me feel more comfortable to just start with twists so that's what i'm gonna do. Other than that, it'll only cost me $95 for the starters. I booked my starter loc appointment for feb 15th so i'm all set to go!
I have had something similar happen. I found at this length I have to make them smaller to be smoother but then it was too curly. I think they get better with length. These are pics of a Bantu Knot out that was suppose to happen but it kinda is a chunky fro. I'm missing my braids already.
Glad to have you back but sorry it is due to breakage. But glad you have a game plan. WL here she comes.I am going to re join this challenge. At first i was going to the gusto and trying to reach WL but I noticed I had alot of breakage in the front of my hair due to all them slick backs. So now my goal is full APL by the end of the year. I think i will cut it all to APL so i can have even hair by the end of the year and then I will shoot for WL in 2024
It definitely looks longer. On the left, the hair is closer to the bottom of your ear and you can't really see the back at all. On the right, I can clearly see the back of your hair and your hair is closer to chin level. It may be the difference in product. The UFD/JS seems to give you more hang time. Here is my February update. I didn’t take my hair as much as usual when I styled it yesterday so it looks really uneven.
I’m still a long way from a SL wash n go, but since my ends are healthy I feel like maybe I can get there this year.
