I'm out of TWA stage. I've been growing out my relaxer for a little more than a year and I'm about shoulder length (of new growth and about 3 inches of relaxed ends).

I can almost twist my hair fully. I can't wait. I am drooling over the styles some of ya'll are rocking.:ohwell: Kive, your hair is gorgeous! I wish my hair was as long as yours.

Looking good and way to go!

oh.. wow,, im late.. lol

i hope this challenge keeps going in some way or another because i just ( 3days ago) cut off color damaged ends in a BC. and in hoping to gain some length by dec 08.

heres my starting pic.

I'm in this challenge. I'm giving myself to May 2009 to be completely out of the TWA stage.

Right now just wetting my hair daily and wearing protective styles.
I am totally with you on this goal. I won't be out of TWA until I can make a ponytail. I am style challenged with lengths shorter than pony length. So the faster I can grow it and the more of it I can retain the better. I'm washing / co-washing / DCing and hiding for 1 year. I'm learning about natural hair care as I go as well. May 2009 is perfect time, I should have about 10 inches by then!

How goes it girls? I must say that I was hoping for a little bit of a growth spurt this summer...we're into July and I haven't seen one yet, boo!!!:nono: Anyone seeing any increased growth this summer?

It's going okay for me ladies. I am still looking for moisturizing(staple) products and it is so frustrating b/c nothing seems to be working. I ordered some food grade aloe vera and will use this in a spritz for my hair b/c these curl activators are just not working for me.

Hey Tishee...have you tried the SheaMoisture leave in? It really worked for me...applied it to soaking wet hair and raked gel over it. It's also inexpensive...about 7 bucks. Great ingredients too...jojoba oil, vitamin e, water, some other great things (the ones i listed aren't in that particular order)

I'll be posting my current length hopefully today. Trying to get these braids down. Wish me luck.

Good luck!

I'd like to join too!! I big chopped on June 1st and my length is in my siggy. :drunk:

Congrats on the BC and welcome!

I'm sorry but you may not want to grow your BC out because that cut is so becoming with your beautiful face!! Your features and skin are so beauitful and we can clearly see that with that cut. Your head is shaped nice too... me on the other hand....:look: Let's just say, I'm glad it's growing :spinning:

There is a thread on the receipe board that uses aloe, glycerine, and water... maybe something else. it works great for me, I have no dryness issues. I use that and then seal with an oil or butter.

Are any of you trying out any protective styles or is everyone doing wash and gos at this point? I'm ridiculously early, but I'm trying to get myself ready for when the weather starts to get cold...anyone have any pics of twists, coils, braids, bantus, and their "out" versions?

ETA: I think that part of my concern for my ends comes from the fact that I have "hand in hair" disease. My fingers are CONSTANTLY playing with my coils and I know that I am doing more harm than good. I'm trying to figure out how I can stop doing that without extensions/weaves/wigs.

I have the "hand in hair" disease too. Here are my pics. They came out descent...took me 4 hours. The coil-out was really nice. I took pics but I accidently formatted my memory card!!! :wallbash: I also purchased the Braids by Breslin Kinky Twist video. Im going to be practicing doing those so I can have another protective style.

Hey! Well, it's been six months and this is my growth - I was doubting how much it had grown until I was getting these pictures to post and now I'm quite proud. Quick question anyone know how to add space to Fotki without paying extra?

Freshly Washed.

I did a flat-twist-out, just check out my fotki. I'm going to edit the album so that there's more information on how exactly I did it!

ITA @ having "hand in hair" disease. I really can't stop. I've been trying.

OK, so I yesterday I used Pantene's Hydrating Curls condish as a leave-in. And OMG!!!:yay: Not only was my hair super soft and moisturized yesterday, but after sleeping in my satin bonnet last night, my hair is STILL incredibly soft and moisturized this morning (and smells REALLY good might I add)!!! :yay:I wonder if I am going to be able to just rinse it today (instead of a full co-wash) and still have a decent hair day...I'll let you know!

I think I might try this.. both of my cousins rave about this but they have 3b hair so I was a little unsure...

Congragulations!! That is good growth!! I started over in May! I shaved my head bald LOL!! Now I just wear wigs & scarves when I go out the house as a Protective style!!

After responding in the "I am a Gel Dependent Junkie" thread (I can't remember the real name of the thread) I decided to break out my new unopened bottle of SheaMoisture Leave-In to see if I can kick this gel habit. Wow! This stuff is great! :yep: I will have to post a pic when I get home of what my hair looks like with it in. It's a pretty thick leave in, smells really good, and has great ingredients (Shea Butter, Deionized Water, Herbal Complex, Panthenol, Centromonium Chloride, Glycerin, Cocoa Butter, Aloe Vera, Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E:lick:). My curls aren't as defined, but they are defined enough (as I am slapping my hand away from playing with my coils:nono:). I think this gel junkie may have found her replacement!
