2 inches in 4 months Challenge (March - June 2013)

I have my hair sort of in mini braids. I have done half of my head. My head looks funny.

My shrinkage is ughhhhhhh.

I am not sure about this look. However, it is good for my hair I can tell! Hmmmmm

I can't see any mentions on my IPhone. PM me if it is a must see. Allons y

Go ahead and finish them up, pull them back and tuck them away. :yep:

I'll try that!

My head seems so small.

Hi everyone!

I've had my hair is kinky twists for about 3 weeks, and they must come out!

I can't cleanse my scalp like I need to, plus I want to play with bunning and updo styles for a while. So, I will be removing my twists on Sunday.

Also, I'm planning on doing my first Aphogee 2 step protein treatment on Sunday as well. Just feel like my hair needs more than the 2 min reconstructor I normally give it. Hoping to see a difference in how it feels (strength wise).

HHG and have a great weekend!

Failed attempt to take length check photos last night after washing. Ill try again this weekend.

I have a very extreme U-shape grazing on MBL.

This was a photo taken 1.5 years ago, LOL. MY hair actually stayed the same length for about a year. I'm just now as of last summer gaining length again. Hair was pretty dry without product = shrinkage.

Last night I use As I Am Coconut Cowash, and did a molasses/conditioner treatment - I was pretty heavy on the black strap molasses. I let it sit on my hair for about an hour (no heat). My hair was pretty smooth upon rinsing.

I used Giovanni Direct Leave-In and BelNouvo CoCo Castor Pudding to "set" my hair. I put my hair into 4 low bantu knots in the back which I won't take down until Saturday morning.

I was able to take these photos this morning.

^^Cute curls and the bantu knots are cute too. I would love, love, love to be able to put my hair into 4 knots and go. Maybe one day.

So far I've been consistent with my daily moisturizing and sealing. I've given up on flat twists. My hair just looks extra busted. So I have been 2 strand twistings. I keep saying I'm going to do pin curls, but I know what the twists will look like. I may do the pin curls tonight to see how they work.

Moisturizing every night is time consuming but I am getting better at it. Hopefully I will see the benefits of it by the middle of April.

I've been bunning...moisturizing and sealing nightly. I've also been baggying my pony when I sleep at night. I tie a scarf around the rest so it will lay flat while I sleep. Then, I remove my scarf and attach my "bun" in the morning.

Thanks! I was surprised how fast it was to set my hair. I've been twisting and curling for updos, buns, etc, but this was super easy and only needed a leave in and some sort of sealant. The DC I did help a lot though. The real test is when I take them down, LOL.

I started to use Njoy's new mix, so hopefully I see some good growth. An inch per month would be excellent!

Hi ladies!!!!!

This is a 1 month update.

I kept my conrows in until the last possible minute and got them redone on Saturday. I was happy when I took my braids down. It felt as though my hair wasnt growing, and honestly, bc I have been going through a lot with my children and school, I really didnt keep up on my regggie as well as I should have. However, I can say that I got about an inch of growth!!! My ends are scraggly now, but its ok. I will get them clipped off when I take these braids down.

2 month update:

Braids just cam down and I am still growing!!!:grin::grin: I am going to try my best to keep this up until the end of the year. I can say that I am enjoying this length. I am not playing in it yet, but I have to keep on target.

Also I think that I made the target of 2 inches well before the end of the challenge. I would like to stay in the challenge to see where I am by the end of June.

Pics below.

Im loving my length atm so so much, so happy being able to feel my hair on my back, and love when it looks great - well this is when my hair is flat ironed

I want to begin experimenting with my natural hair which I'm planning on doing in a few weeks when ive left university for the easter. Bue i'm scared, I dont want to dislike my hair or have breakage or other issues associated with essentially a newbie to natural hair!

Any advice? words of support?

I was at Target and I saw a little black girl about 7 or 8 with a weave. It must have been new because she kept shaking her head from side to side and looking up at the ceiling. This is my third time seeing this and I do not like this trend.

Glad the braids are working for you :yep:

Finished my 1st week of daily moisturizing and my hair is happy. Trying out my new 4 Naturals line tonight and so far so good. Will use this for the next 30 days to see how my hair likes it. It's not a complete line so will fill in with other products as I need to.

Bought NJoy's Growth oil. Will start using that towards the end of the week. Need to make sure I don't have an sulphur allergy.

daae stop length checkin chica! it's disappointing! just wait til the end of the challenge to length check :yep:

if ur hair hasn't progressed by then, then ur regi may need to be tweaked...

I dont length check that much but I'm trying to track it more to see if it actually grow as u got very little growth last year
I already do the most to my hair *sigh*
I just want long hair
Been on this journey for forever with no real results

My friend that is supposed to twist my hair hasn't texted me back with dates....I'm about to get real worry some real soon...I want my hair twisted!

It was good. I wore my hair out in a couple of low ponytails and wore a loose bun yesterday. I used a little Cantu (For Natural Hair) Creamy Hair Lotion since my hair was feeling a little dry. Since my scalp is itching like crazy I will shampoo it tonight. Overall I like the bantu knots better than twists.

Prepooed with Njoy's Growth Oil on my scalp overnight (covered with a plastic cap and a scarf.)

Poo'ed with SM Curl and Shine Poo. I don't think I like it. My hair felt dry afterward and I only lathered once. I'll stick with the SM Yucca and Boabab Volumizing Poo. That was my second time pooing since 2/9.

Conditioned with Tresemme Naturals. Left a little in as a leave in. I don't like doing this. My hair felt rough when it dried.

LCO: Taliah Waajid PMB, SM Curl Enhancing Smoothie and Hairveda Almond Glaze instead of a liquid Oil. (So, I ditched my bun to try a twist out with Hairveda Almond Glaze.)

Twisted hair for a TO.

OMG. BEST. TWISTOUT. EVER.
