2 inches in 4 months Challenge (March - June 2013)

Been applying my NJoy mix every night. I'm a little scared of moisture overload with this baggying stuff. I don't like my hair feeling damp or wet all of the time. I didn't baggy this evening. I co-washed my cornrows and hopefully they will air-dry by tomorrow.

oh em gee...so i got a lot of free goodies from a hair company (to feature on my youtube page)

they sent me a BUNCH of stuff! I don't even know where to start!

I got some follicle food (hair growth oil), Ayurvedic hair wash, a protein shake specifically geared towards hair growth, hair vitamins and some internal cleanse supplements.... maybe this stuff will get me my 2 inches by June!!!!

Very cool. Please update us as you are trying them out.

Every wash I pull the front to see if it has moved any. So far no movement. But it seems to be a trend. No movement, no movement, no movement, hey, a 1/2". :ohwell: So I am hoping I get that this month as well.

I still have breakage but I am doing much better with moisturizing so it is far less. And I will start using NJoys growth oil tonight. I also will get back to exercising this week. I need to start preparing for my 10k next month. I only have 3 weeks to train.

I'm with you. I don't care to always have damp/wet/mushy hair either. I thought it was just me.

I've baggied overnight maybe three times so far. Depending on how my hair feels, I will only baggy for maybe 2 hours, then put on my bonnet or scarf.

I think 2 hours will work. But if you ever want to baggy overnight and not have your hair so damp, put on your bonnet, then the plastic cap, then a scarf or bonnet. That will give you damp hair but not soggy hair.

Thanks faithVA for the tip. Tonight i baggied with only the oil (no cowash or moisturizing/sealing) and i took it off in the middle of the night. My hair is not wet. I think i will only baggy a few hours after a cowash rather than overnight.

Sent from my SGH-T959 using LHCF

My hair is feeling a little dry so tonight I'm going to baggy with Long Aid Activator Gel and Hairitage Hydration Coconut Mango Moisturizer on the ends. Ill cowash tomorrow night after bunning it. Its super stretched from my 4 bantu knots Monday night so its easy to work with.

I have been lurking on NJoys challenge thread and I read about the greenhouse effect. I googled it and saw pretty good results from others. I tried it last night. I put castor oil on my hair and spayed my hair with water/glycerin until it was damp. I put on a plastic cap then covered it with a scarf. I woke up with damp hair so it worked. It took about 15 minutes to dry. I think tonite I will try dry without the water.

I'm in that phase where I don't feel my hair is growing

Even though I can't see it something must be growing because I can tuck my hair behind my ears and it's starting to be a bit too long in the front to just wear a simple fro. I think I am on the verge of having some hang time in the front.

So will keep working on my moisture/protein balance to stop this breakage and keep doing my daily moisturizing and sealing.

Protein play time is over, time to focus more on moisture. My hair was doing well when I was using curl activator on my ends + GHE.

faithVA - I would love to see photos of your hair.

Why? :sekret: What have you heard? :look:

Girl this raggedy head doesn't look like nothing. I have pics in my blog though. I think I probably posted some in the twa thread. Let me see if I can find it.

I have been taking pictures like once a week. I go to work thinking my hair looks ok. Then I look at the pictures and am like lawd, I went to work like that? :lachen: My boss and coworkers must think I'm really going through something

Almost to the end of month 1 of this challenge, and I am learning to just enjoy my hair. I used to get so upset about my lack of hair growth ( or so I thought), especially after watching my favorite youtubers, with their long, luxurious hair.

The thing is, hair is always growing. For me, my problem was retention. I would watch YT taking notes on what everyone was doing for THEIR hair, but wasn't listening to my OWN hair. Simple is best, and retention is what will keep the hair that you grow on your head.

I've just recently started baggying my ends (3x a week) and I love it. I've also been having fun with french braids, buns and creative updos.

Our hair is our crown and glory, and no matter what length it is, we should rock it and enjoy it!

I'm off my soapbox, just wanted to give encouragement to some of the ladies (and myself)!

HHG :yep:

^^I'm glad its only a month. If it was longer I would be so disappointed in my growth. At least with 3 more months to go I am still hopeful.

Its been a month? Jeeez louise. No length checks here yet. I am pretty sure I dont have much new growth, noticing more curls forming but my hair is so darn frizzy I don't know what to do. Gonna re-twist my hair in about a week I think after all my performances for school are done. Planning to keep in till graduation so maybe a month (hopefully). Hopefully I will notice a nice change then.

Uggggghhhh, wash day and I dreaded it. My hair was shedding everywhere. 8 days away from getting my full relaxer. I am ready to start over with a different texture. Trying to stay motivated.

I can't remember if I joined this challenge already but last time I measured (about 11 days ago?), my fringe was right on the tip of my nose. I measured again today and it's within brushing distance of my top lip. I should reaaally get a length check shirt but I'm super happy with how my growth mix is working. Too bad my ends are breakage city atm. It's always like that isn't it?

Hair growing? Breakage.
Hair not breaking? Oh, here's some shedding.
No shedding? Have some single strand knots on the house!

I swear, every time I get somewhere, some mini setback is waiting for me around the corner.

Well that is some good growth for 11 days. :yep: Maybe you can get the breakage under control.

Based on my grays and my color line, I don't think I got 1/2 inch this month. But I usually get my eyebrows down the first week of the month and they don't seem to have grown either. So maybe bodywise I'm in a holding pattern right now. Maybe I will have a growth spurt in April.

I hope so. I just can't work out if I need more moisture or more protein because I've been doing both! If my hair is fairly stretchy, does that mean I'm overmoisturised?

Definitely going to dust these ends though, I keep procrastinating. :nono:
