2 inches in 4 months Challenge (March - June 2013)

I baggy my whole head (GHE) every night after I oil it with castor oil.... not sure if it works....I just do it to keep the oil from ending up on my pillowcases....

This challenge works for anyone wanting more length whether you have a TWA or already WL.

If you would like to be an official challenger, complete the following.

1. Starting pic (required for official challengers)

2. Regimen
Every week:Pre-poo w/ castor oil, shampoo w/ sm shampoo, dc w/ one of the follwing: AOGPB (every other week) or use AOWC,AOHSR, Eden body works dc, sm purification masque. I steam in the dc 3x/month. I keep my hair twisted 99% of the time. M&S every other day, apply sulfur mix to my scalp. Sleep w/ a bonnet or silk scarf every night.
Clarify once a month, dust every 3 months
3. Long and/or short term goals
Shortterm: healthy APL hair by December 2013
Long term: back to waist length & beyond. I really want to see if I can grow my loose natural hair to engths that I've never seen.
4. Healthy hair journey history
Growing up I never had long hair. I was teased in elementary school for having nappy hair. I begged my mother for a relaxer before I started HS
in hs(the 80s), I had a jherri curl which made my hair grow. After the jherri curl phase was over, I alternated been braids & relaxers. My hair never looked great w/ relaxer, and in 1997, I had less than an inch of hair in my crown.
In '00, I attempted to loc my hair ( I still had relaxed ends) but I didn't like how my sister started them (she was loc'd). I started transitioning (didn't know there was a name for it) w/ extensions. In 02, I started locing my hair and I had no relaxed ends.

My locs grew to WSL, a length I never thought possible. Although I loved my locs, I really wanted to see how long my loose natural hair could grow. So on 6/10/12 I bc'd my locs.

Sorry I'm late!

Jan 2013- Took out sew in, no hair progress being natural. Natural hair products are limited. Tried to texlax....my hair laughed. :lachen:
Feb 2013- Put hair in cornrolls. I am able to cover my hair at work so I put a satin bonnet on hair and a scarf over it. My hair is loving it. 100% hair protection:yay:

I am going to do a personal challenge for the next 30 days. I will be moisturizing daily, finger combing and putting my hair into as low a manipulation style as I can. That probably will be my switching between pin curls as my primary style and puffs as my back up style.

I will continue to cowash 1x to 2x a week and I will wash and DC weekly, using protein every other week. I will probably pick up some biotin and msm this weekend.

I will try to take starting pictures this weekend.

Hi everyone!

I've been rocking my kinky twists for almost two weeks and I love them. I did them smaller and shorter this time (about BSL) and curled them with big rollers. They are so light and airy. I co-washed and DC last Friday, and will do the same tonight. I've also been oiling my scalp 3x a week, as well as spraying my marshmallow root tea and jojoba oil to keep my hair (within the twists) moisturized.

Speaking my 2 inches into existence!

I just installed small twists with braided roots in my hair. I will keep them in until April, with daily moisturizing and sealing my ends with castor oil, and cowashing and DCing with my twists banded bi-weekly. My signature picture shows what they look like after they were completed.

I just revised my regimen and will start it next Sunday. Using a new product line. In addition will be moisturizing daily, sealing the ends more and doing more protein treatments. Also ordered NJoys growth oil. And I picked up some biotin. I alternate between 2000 mcg and 1000 mcg every other day.

I think my regimen is much improved. Let's see if I get improved results.

length checked wednesday and i was about a half an inch from where i last was so i decided not to take a new picture and not focus on it (cause it will drive me crazy) so for now ponys and buns are my bestfriend. i should look up more styles tho...

might still do havanna twists..

I had to change my LOC method b/c my hair won't stay moisturized. Tried aloe vera juice and water as my spritz leave-in, with JBCO, and Paul Mitchell the one conditioner. Hope this works. I'll take any suggestions.

^^Don't have any suggestions. I'm working on the same thing. I haven't found my mix yet.

What are you ladies using to moisturize? especially between wash days?

faithVA I use a water and conditioner spritz, some Evoo or GSO and a cream. I concentrate on the ends of my twists. I do this every other day.

I'm planning on trying the Aphogee Green Tea spray soon.

Sent from my SGH-T959 using LHCF

I use Ferm Moisture equalizer (liquid), keracare naturals hair milk or keracare overnight moisturizing treatment (cream), and keracare essential oils (oil)...this combo keeps my fine 4b hair Moisturized. I also Baggie my ends nightly and during the day if I'm wearing a phony puff.

^I eyeball, but usually 1/2 spray bottle has maybe 2 tblspns of conditioner. Right now it is DBs cocoa bean smoothing cream because it's light.

Thanks ladies. I have some rose water. Maybe I will mix that with some As I Am leave-in. Trying to make it stretch a little farther.

I am using, water, rose water, veggie glycerin, argan oil, jojoba and a little AO WC. Its been working out pretty well. Thats been my leave in. My curls dont stay more than 1 day so I've been using it everyday and it works out decently.

yeah i'm not length checking (by pulling/tugging) til the end of this challenge.....LOL bc I would drive myself crazy otherwise. I don't want to discourage myself so I'm waiting...Just bunning......though I am taking a pic of my hair after I wash it to see if I notice a difference in how my curls hang.....I took one the beginning of this month, the next one will be the first week of april...

Shampoo'd my hair for the first time in months last week!! Im a strict co-washer so... yea. I used Carol's Daughter Monoi shampoo and conditioner. Deep treated with BASK Vanilla Whiskey Repairative Hair Soak. My hair felt really good. Had been using the CD Monoi Repairing Strengthening Sacred Serum as well, now..call me crazy..but I'm noticing a lot less breakage!!
