2 Inches In 4 Months Challenge (sep - Dec 2015)

Tomorrow is wash day. I am using a Kerastase mask and you know how I feel about Kerastase. I am looking forward to smooth, strong, good smelling and soft hair. Hopefully washing more frequently is helping with growth/scalp health.

Just wanted to give an update as I haven't posted in here in a while.

I've been in braids. The first Install i had for 10 weeks. I took a two week break and I now i have the second set. My braider takes a lot of pride in her work and rather than getting messy, they just grew out. I had about an inch and a quarter of growth (which is about average i think). My braid regimen is to cleanse with either tresemme naturals moisture conditioner or CON argan oil shampoo, DC with ORS Replenishing Conditioner. and Spray with watered down curl activator + protein spray + oil. Cheap, quick and cheerful. ( Last time I used grease on my scalp but I don't think that was actually a good idea cos while my scalp was happy, I was attracting a lot of dust)

When I took out my first set, I had no buildup, no tangles. I could have just combed my hair out and went (I did some protein treatments tho). This led me to think I could have left it in for longer save for the stress the braids growing out was potentially putting on my edges. So at the 6-8 week mark I'm going to get my edges, nape and part redone and see how far I can push this install.

ETA.
Also I'm going to cut out the tresemme naturals conditioner. Once I co-washed without using the Deep Conditioner and my scalp felt sooooo dry. So I could only imagine what my hair felt like under the braids. I'll either just DC or shampoo and DC.

It's not even 30 days and my grays are back in full force. In a way that's good news. It means that my growth rate is back to normal. At this rate I'm expecting at least another half inch before the end of this challenge.

I'm now taking a probiotic daily. I also added a magnesium, calcium and zinc tablet to my daily regimen. It would be nice if the zinc cut down on some of this gray.

I'm still wigging it and applying my growth aid 4x a week. I alternate between liquid gold oil and mn mixed with peppermint oil. I went wig shopping today, but I didn't find anything.

I'm so anxious to use up my products so that I can buy more. I have 6 conditioners that I want to use before I buy any new ones. Each wash day I have been using a different conditioner. One week is protein and the following week is moisture.

Hi @faithVA, if you are starting this challenge next year, can you please tag me. I believe this challenge will get me to at least APL early next year and then I can concentrate on getting to BSL by the end of 2016. Thank you hun

@faithVA, I just bought 3 bottles of NJoy's Graying Hair Essentials hair vitamins for the same reason. I need to see if these grays can be controlled from the inside and sure hoping these supps will work. I'll update on their performance. They are only $19.99 and she's having a 20% off black friday sale that's good until Monday. So if you need the code, it's GROW2015 okay?

I haven't decide yet. I'm leaning towards not doing it but if I do I will tag you.

I will follow you and see how it goes. I hope they work for you.

Just a few more weeks ladies. I don't know if I got 2" or not but I do know that I had some decent growth and retained some. I will probably dust this weekend to keep the splits at bay.

I decided to purchase all the ingredients to make the hairdrenalin potion and do inversions with it once it's made. I am looking for some awesome growth:yep:

I did find a hat. Now I need to put a satin liner in it.

Nothing much going on with my hair. Washing it and putting it back into flat twist. I'm finally retaining. Glad to end the year better than when I started it :yep:

What tutorial are you following to add the satin/silk lining?

I can tell I dusted my ends but it didn't impact my flat twist style too much. I am definitely looking forward to some more inches. I think I will restart this thread for 2016.

I created the new thread Aggie. You can hold your spot whenever you are ready.

I didn't apply my wig properly this morning and now my scalp is sore. If I didn't have to work tomorrow I would skip the wig and just wear a satin bonnet all day.

I have fallen off the healthy eating wagon, but once my new fit band gets here I will start with high protein low fat again.

Things I plan to do from Sept until December to get 2 inches:
75 grams of protein daily
30 minutes of cardio 5x week
Invert 7 days out of the month
Apply mn 3x week
Take Purvana hair vitamins

If all goes well I will end the year a few lbs lighter too
Yeah I failed with the protein and cardio. I was very consistent with vitamins, inverting and growth aides. I'm so looking forward to my lc next week.

At the end of this session, I can say there's not much progress on the length front. I don't mind. I did a good dust/ trim and I think my ends are looking better than at the start of this session. My shorter areas are trying to catch up (thanks to my trim) and both sides of my head seem relatively even.
