This challenge works for anyone wanting more length whether you have a TWA or already WL.

If you would like to be an official challenger, complete the following.

1. Starting pic (required for official challengers): will try my best to get this up March 1st
2. Regimen:Prepoo with oil Friday night, shampoo Saturday morning, deep condition with heat, rinse out conditioner, ACV rinse. Apply leave in and roller set.
Midweek deep condition on dry hair, cowash, rinse out conditioner, coffee rinse. Apply leave in, seal with ceramics oil and put in 2 corn rows.

3. Long and/or short term goals: short term goal APL, long term goal WL
4. Healthy hair journey history: was natural until 19 when I got my first relaxer. Never really knew my hair could grow past shoulder length. Grew out the relaxer and got locs in 2005 until 2008. Was losing my sides because as the locs grew they got heavier. Got all the locs cut September 2008 and kept it natural until after my daughter was born in 2010. I relaxed again but wasn't concerned about hair health. By the time I got pregnant with my son in 2011 I decided to cut all the relaxed hair off especially since that pregnancy was really hard on my physically. After my son was born I started taking care of my hair again and it grew to shoulder length by January 2013. I decided to texlax as I don't have much free time for hair with taking care of 2 little ones.

DC with every wash
Apply leave-in
Bun or pony-tail until next wash

Long and/or short term goals
Short term: WL
Long term: HL

Healthy hair journey history
Transitioned from March 10- September 12
Length: BSL

I would like to join. I may be getting a touch up relaxer in March

1. Starting pic : will post after relaxer. I am currently 3 months post, so waiting may give more accurate results...
2. Regimen: Wash/DC 1x a week: prepoo with chicoro mix, rinse out with diluted shampoo or diluted borax, DC under plastic cap and plastic wrap with conditioner and agran oil, bun, or rollet set. May keep bunning because my ends seemed thin last rollerset. Moisturize/seal with LOC method 1x a day (water and humectress, argan oil, hot sixx oil, humectress). Protein with Aphogee 2 min as needed.
3. Long and/or short term goals: Short term: healthier ends, lay off heat, reduce breakage. Get to APL/BSB with good ends. Long term: healthy mid back.
4. Healthy hair journey history: On my journey since 2007. I was natural until age 12. My hair never got past probably BSB stretched. I never had a trim and had a natural setback after my hair was braided into small braids, then matted and tangled and dredded together. Cut it off in 6th grade, started over, then got a relaxer midway through 7th grade. Had some setbacks, but in recent history had one from not enough DC in 2005 protein overload in 2010, matting and tangling 2010-2011, too much flat iron in 2012.

It has taken me way too long to find a good moisturizer for my hair. I think this has contributed to my stalled retention as well.

My hair grows, but I retain basically nothing because I have fine hair that splits very VERY easily. No matter what I do, my ends split. I don't think I've ever had good ends IN MY LIFE! They stop me from reaching my goals. I just need to figure them out and I'd be fine.

Regimen 1X week DC (alternating AO GPB with a non-protein condish)
1X week alternate betwen shampoo (sulfate free) and co-washing. I wash my hair in four sections then air dry to about 70% before adding oil and leave in cream with the LOC method. I use GSO, EVOO, or coconut oil, and Darcy's Cocoa Bean Hair Whip, Bee Mine Luscious, or Darcy's Pumpkin Seed condish on top.
I usually style my hair in twists or braids bunned or pinned up.
Every other day I moisturize and seal the ends with water, then add a little more oil and Hair Whip.

Long and/or short term goals: Long term goal is MBL. Short term is BSL, hopefully in late summer.

Healthy hair journey history: I've been natural all my life, but didn't know much about healthy hair care. As a kid, my mom would wash my hair periodically, slap some Vaseline or grease in it and twist it up (she couldn't braid). Soon my mom started sending me to ppl to get my hair done in extensions (usually yarn twists or poetic justice braids). As I got older, I began doing my own extensions and this is how I wore my hair throughout my youth. As an adult, I began trying out weaves and wigs. Luckily my edges happen to be resilient, despite my hair being kind of fine.

I thought conditioner was a waste of money and time. I'd shampoo my hair all over without sectioning, resulting in tangles and matting. Then I'd blow dry the tangles completely dry and "moisturize" by adding a lot of grease in sections, and then comb. I'd usually install some sort of extension braids, cornrows (salon or myself), weave, or wig and keep them in for at least 3 months without caring for the hair underneath. Then I'd take em out and rip through the buildup at the roots :nono:

I started looking into growing my hair longer back in 2003 or 2005, but I didn't find much info...maybe the growafrohairlong site. In any case, I didn't give it much thought after that. In around 2007, I began looking into it again and looked around on some hair boards. I began using some better products and started to co-wash every month. However, I still had some unhealthy practices. I really didn't care much about the health of my hair then so it was no big deal to me. As long as my braids were laid and I looked fly, I was cool. :look:

I officially began my HHJ in June of 2012, so I've only been at it about 8 months. I started out with probably neck length hair, so I'm already seeing good progress, as this is the longest my hair has ever been. Of course I'm greedy.

I will post my starting pic between Friday the 1st and Sunday the 3rd when I was. I trimmed my hair on the 11th, and my bangs are back to where they are pre-trim. I am happy about that. Hopefully I can see growth every two weeks. :yep:

Saturday deep conditioned with "BY" by framessi ....then did 2 strand twists , "going to do light dusting mid week" snipped a few ends in preparation... sealed with a mix of JBC and coconut oil......Hair has felt like butter ever since

The challenge officially begins in 2 days! I'm excited:drunk:

I just put kinky twists in my hair and I plan to keep them until until the end of April. I will still be cleansing my scalp on a regular basis and keeping my twists moisturized with my tea spritzes. They are the truth!

Happy hair growing and good luck to all the challengers!

It's belowww
2. Regimen
I keep my hair in twists most of the time, I will be keeping this current set in until march 31st but we'll see how that goes lol. I wash my hair once a week and cowash whenever my hair feels kinda dry. I moisturize daily with a mix of water/castor oil/ and a little condish. I seal with coconut and castor oil mixed.

3. Long and/or short term goals
Short term: I'd love to be APL by graduation !!
Long term: Waist length lol

4. Healthy hair journey history
My journey started in 2011, I decided to stop getting weaves because they had really broken my hair off. I kind of took care of my hair but I was really bad at it. Then after my big cousin burned my scalp with a relaxer in July 2011 I decided I was done with that. Then I found the forums and transitioned until may 24. 2012. That was super hard time because people weren't really accepting natural hair at my school yet but whatever I stuck with it and my hair practices are greatly improved. Now people ask me for advice which is still hilarious to me since last year they had sooo much to say.
