This happened to me. I had a youtube hair tutorial going on and was switching between that and reading the reviews on Folica and another site and then my bf walked in. :look: Why did I feel the need to shut down the hair tutorial and act like I wasn't reading about the same curling iron on two different sites?

Does anyone else feel like this? Do you feel the need to hide your hair obsession from "normal" people. lol I'm so glad I found a site where I can get in depth about hair and no one says it's just hair. We all know it's not just hair. lol

Guilty! :sekret: Right now I'm at my parents' house and everytime one of my brothers walk by the computer I minimize the fotki windows.

Why do I do that? They already know all about my hair obsession. Heck they come to me for hair advice!

^^^^lololol.

Yeah, I mean everyone who knows me knows I take it seriously, but it's like I don't want them to know how seriously!

I live with my SO, i don't think he 'gets' it, but he doesn't seem to care either way. Everyone else, I think they know I'm into hair, but not how much.

lol I can't really hide it as soon as someone brings up hair I'm ret' ta go and start chatting up a storm. People just know its my passion and expect it from me at this point. After a while everyone just laughs and asks me hair questions when they have them....aint no future in frontin':cool2:

Some people know that I'm really into hair, but I wouldn't tell anyone I paid to be a member of a message board (unless they seemed genuinely interested in joining as well). Before LHCF, I would have thought someone was crazy to pay to be part of a forum as well, to be honest. :look:

Oh yes. When my sister looked at the retail price of the FHI Runway and found out that I had purchased it, she yelled at me and told me I need to stop being so obsessed with hair products and boards and get out of the house more often.

My DH and kids always say "You're on that hair board AGAIN?" I tell them to go get some business and stay outta mine. :yep:

dh made up a little jingle that he sings, when I come home and hop on the laptop... he also will start his little "Girl didn't you know... < insert some random product / item> will make your hair grow???" some of the things he says are just plain wrong :lachen:

I just try to keep my mouth shut with the ladies at work :ohwell::look:

tsk tsk, folks just don't understand.

Too funny! I think I'm headed down that road. My sis asked me what I wanted for xmas and I was like, "you know what I want...", she said, "ok, what? some curling iron, some flat iron, what?" I guess my secret's not so secret. lol

Me either. I wouldn't tell anyone I'm a member of a hair board unless they were really trying to grow their hair out. Otherwise I would act like I just happen to have a lot of good tips about growing hair. :look:

I wouldn't call myself obsessed but my mother does. I do spend a lot of time researching ingredients (which I did way before I got into hair). As much as she makes fun of me, I do get random phone calls every now and then.

Mom: MD? Can you tell me what isopropyl myristate is? I mean, will that help with my greys?:lachen:

I feel that way, because it always follows with something negative.

Seems like people's standards for being hair obsessed are pretty low... I get funny looks from walking out of the shower with wet hair.. or putting conditioner in it

This is me all day long. I'm not a pj, but my blow dryer and flat iron are expensive (Sedu and Babyliss). Not that expensive for this board but everyone irl thinks that all blow dryers are the same and that you should get a 20 dollar one from Rite Aid. I'm like, no.

Too cute. But I couldn't handle that kind of interest in my obsession. I would die. :lachen:

I don't try to hide it anymore...I used to though.
But now I'm obsessed with hair and everyone knows it. I'll be in class sitting in the very front, knowing full well that people behind me can see my screen, and I'll still go about my business. Reading threads, looking at product reviews, watching hair porn on youtube, all up in someone's fotki, lingering on every picture....I don't care. Ain't no shame in my game. :headspin:

i don't really talk about it w/ my mum, cuz it gets on her nerves a bit, lol. She is always like, "what's the big deal? it's just hair", but my mum has always been able to grow her hair as she pleases, so she wouldn't understand the frustration of not being able to. Which is what's makes me mad, because she wouldn't even try to see things from my POV . :/

Yeah, i minimize my screen when i'm in the computer room at uni. It's an open plan one so i always sit in the place where people are least likely to wall past.

OMG chaos that is totally me in my womens studies or world history lectures:lol:, I be all up and through LHCF reading threads, I'm not so bold as t watch vids though, thats some nex level ish:lachen:

but fotki's?? Oh yea:yep:

LOL at the above!
Your DH is wrong! I used to try and let only my family know. But when work got VERY boring (with all my work done by early in the day) I found myself going online and surfing the boards! Maybe I'll keep it from the people at my new job (we rotate posts every 4 months!).

The weekends are great for surfing!

Lmao... u sound like me and some people can't believe I get so excited. Its funny because my coworkers had all chipped in to get me a jcpenney gift card for my b-day and my bestfriend got me a blow dryer..lol

Awww. It's too bad that's she's not more understanding. But, that's what we're all here for. :)

Wow. You're boldness is inspiring. You're officially my hair obsession mentor now, be prepared for my emails. lol

I'm glad I'm not alone...I can only imagine what my classmates think. :nono:
But I don't think the youtube videos are that bad, because I watch them on mute. They're just fotkis in motion..:look:

LOL SO knows I am a hair freak but he was looking at the pics on my laptop and I was sweating like a crackhead getting patted down by the po-po. He saw a folder that had pics of several products and my hair being styled from start to finish (post DC to pin curl result) and he was like "what is all that for?" and I was like that's how we do product reviews on the hair site. Then he said, "You paid the 6.50 again, wow." And just looked at me like a kid with their hand in the candy jar.

SMH LOL

I feel you girl. My DH shakes his head everytime he walks by and sees me watching a youtube video. "How much is there to know about hair" he says but doesn't complain when it's swinging around and he gets to run his fingers through it!

No one else knows about my hair obession but my DH and you ladies. DH doesn't think its too strange I had a nice lenght of hair when we met but have been sick and the medication they gave me wreaked havoc on my hormones and hair. So he doesn't mind much..well not to much:look:

I got BUSTED during Thanksgiving. My family saw that I converted a bedroom into a salon even though I tried to keep that door closed .

Also, I emailed my sister a length shot with my length t-shirt. She called me out and I was like "huh, what?" I forgot that no one outside of LHCF uses these shirts.

Needless to say, my entire family left shaking their heads .
