When people discover you're hair obsessed

I don't really tell people. One of my coworkers knows, though. I'm natural and one day she asked me about the products I used in my hair. I told her about hair butters and other stuff. She mentioned her sister read about hair butter on (you guessed it) LHCF. I told her I was member.

Of course the hubby knows, he's very encouraging. Takes the hair pixs, reminds me be to put the mega-tek in. Stuff like that.

LOL SO knows I am a hair freak but he was looking at the pics on my laptop and I was sweating like a crackhead getting patted down by the po-po. He saw a folder that had pics of several products and my hair being styled from start to finish (post DC to pin curl result) and he was like "what is all that for?" and I was like that's how we do product reviews on the hair site. Then he said, "You paid the 6.50 again, wow." And just looked at me like a kid with their hand in the candy jar.

This is my worst nightmare!! When my sister found pic after pic of hair on my camera she thought I was crazy. I was trying to explain that you have to show pics and it's hard as hell taking pics of your hair so you have to take a lot. She gave me the major side eye.

I got BUSTED during Thanksgiving. My family saw that I converted a bedroom into a salon even though I tried to keep that door closed .

Also, I emailed my sister a length shot with my length t-shirt. She called me out and I was like "huh, what?" I forgot that no one outside of LHCF uses these shirts.

Needless to say, my entire family left shaking their heads .

Wow. You are dedicated. I think I just found my new goal!

now that i put my friends on this hair world...they assume that when they say "product junkie" to random ladies who have hair questions....that its ok. frankly i am annoyed by it. Granite, people look at them crazy, I wish they don't go around telling people i'm a product junkie and that every hair product we see: insist that I don't buy it and drag me out the aisle...is it that serious.

They know all about Fotki to and hope to open their own one day as well. So when they see me on fotki stalking peoples hair progress: don't ask me "What am I doing?" or the dreadful :retorical question:

Why Are You One There?.....Gosh it is so annoying. How do you answer that question?

My sister is as hair obsessed as I am. OK maybe I'm a tad crazier
So I try to wait until I see her to talk about hair. My oldest DD is starting to get into hair products and stuff too so I'll talk to her if she brings it up. Anybody else though... I really try to hide it from "normal" people at work.

Oh my youngest DD thinks its funny to randomly yell out "my mom is addicted to hair products" to people at the mall. I gotta remember to put her up for adoption or something

My husband, brother, mother, and some of my friends know. I try to hide my hair obsession, but it's HARD. Whenever someone mentions something about hair--no matter how basic it is--my mouth starts going a mile a minute.

I'm always asking my brother to take pics of my twist-outs b/c his camera has more megapixels than mine does. He just looks at me & shakes his head--while taking my pics, of course.

Plus, I love hair videos, so I'm always on Youtube. I try to watch the Youtube videos in secret b/c my husband doesn't understand why I watch hair videos. One day, he saw me watching a video on detangling & said, "you're STILL on the hair thing?"

My friend came to visit me the other day & said "wow" when she saw my hair products (all of my products fit on one shelf in the bathroom, btw.) I don't know WHAT she'd say if she saw how many products some of you have.

I live with my SO, i don't think he 'gets' it, but he doesn't seem to care either way. Everyone else, I think they know I'm into hair, but not how much.

I don't hide it. I talk to everyone about hair, including people at school and work, when appropriate. Some of my friends thought it was funny at first - now all of them, as well as my sister, are on their own hair journeys.

I am not a full blown addict yet...but I feel it becoming a problem. There have been times I have been late going out or doing stuff because I was so wrapped up in message boards, fotki albums, and youtube videos lol. I can get lost for hours in this stuff. Maybe because I didnt really learn how to take care of my hair until this year! Haha.
But my boyfriend knows, and he just laughs and thinks I am cute. We were just talking about how I was having a happy hair day today lol. He is very in tune with my hair needs. He stayed with me shopping for hair products for an hour and change one time when I had just begun taking care of my hair lol. Now thats some love

My SO has no clue the obsession to which he has walked in to. lol He'll find out soon enough. I know he's seen my stash but hasn't said anything. Other than that, the only time I speak on it is if someone says something completely crazy and I feel obligated to speak out. If people keep asking me about my hair, I tell them, but I just don't volunteer it all willy nilly.

I've ALWAYS been obsessed with hair ... ALWAYS ... ever since I was 14 years old. Everyone in my family knows what time it is with me and hair. When I was a teen, I distinctly remember my dad saying to me, "There you go again doin' your hair. Always with the hair, Tara!! What is your deal?!?!"



But there was no such thing as LHCF back then, so I was on my own. At least with this site, I'm around like-minded people who understand my obsession.

Whenever I leave the computer, I make sure to minimize the screen as 9 times out of 10 it's on this site. I'm proud to say that my obsession has subsided some, but once upon a time it was bad,bad. I would be having like 10 windows open at once all dealing with hair and nutrition stuff.

However, I do refrain from showing the extent of my hair insanty with some friends and the rest of the world. So when i'm at work or just out and about I will get out of the screen or try not to go in debth about it becuase I know I will show how obsessed I am ! My room is a bss and I have to sneak products in the house. The other day my beautician was blowing my hair and I thought I saw broken pieces at the crown. But my hair was really not laying down flat, not broken off. She said, "Calmate mami. Your hair is fine!" I was embarrassed.

No one knows im obsesses, but my immediates.. My DH, and kids and my sister because I have gotten her on her own personal hair journey. Any one else, um NO, I know they just won't understand, so I dont bother..

I don't hide it for the most part. Before hair forums I was always able to style hair and now I can nurture it so it seems this forum has fueled my obsession, and if people still want me styling their hair then they best be prepared for me to talk.

When I was in school I would be in Spanish lab listening to Spanish but cruising lhcf and fotki and I didn't care who was behind me, oh well mind your own business! Lol. And if you're my friend sitting next to me and I'm cruising and I see a nice head of hair I tap you to look too, lol. They know who to call for advice so I don't mind them knowing I'm obsessed.
