life long natural and i'm still not BSL:nono: getting close but jeez come on 2 more inches please and don't break hair don't, that's been my main problem which i've seem to fix so BSL i'm coming

i've just passed 3.5 yrs (from my 4th & last bc :spinning::drunk::lachen::drunk::spinning:). i started over from a shaved head in 2006.

straightened, my hair hangs at collarbone in the front layers, & armpit-length in the back layers.

i'm shooting for bsb by next summer & wl a year after that.

wow you all look great! i had mt hair pressed for my birthday 3week back- im nearly mid back;-)

this is the 1st time iv used heat since last nov... but im starting to miss my curly hair so il be washing it back in a couple days. lol

I always miss my curly hair after a few days straight. I don't seem to miss the straight, I guess because I know that the heavy price that comes from keeping my hair straight:grin:

This was great guys. I love looking at all of your lovely natural heads. I'm not missing my relaxed hair at all but I sure am missing my lenght. I'm tired of being bald lol

In three years, I went from TWA to BSL - hand stretched, with no transition (this time), with regular trims of about an inch or so three times a year.

Speak of which, i'm overdue for a trim now.

With shrinkage, I would say i'm still sitting with shoulder skimming curls.

I BC'd exactly 2 years ago on 9/24 and I'm MBL. My last relaxer was November of 2006 and I transitioned for 10 months. So it'll be almost 3 years in a few months.

If I retain all 6 inches of growth I should be tailbone length by this time next year. I have spasms just thinking about it LOL

tkj, you have had great growth...wow!:yep:

I'm sooooo stalkin fotkis now.. I tried to refrain from it but this thread!!! Geeeezzzzzzz such inspiration!!

Thanks ladies!

N&W (hush girl, you've made some great progress! That hair in your picture is flawless, really!!).

Ivie, I bet you'll be BSL in December!

Know what I've learned since hangin' around hairboards?

That any and everything is possible with knowledge, time and lots and lots of PATIENCE:yep:. The proof is right here on this board with all the lovely heads of relaxed and natural hair running around in here!! All of it is so fun, encouraging, inspiring and may I please say - Empowering.

I just wish more women had an opportunity to get online and learn what's possible...

i go crazy everytime i see all that hair

I've been natural going on 5 yrs now including my transition. I recently achived Mid Back Length:yep:

Congrats. I just luv your hair miss! I'm only coming up on 1 yr next month but I think I've grown and retained my length pretty well. I'm collar bone length in the back and between variable lengths of ear length ot chin length on the sides when stretched so maybe I'll reach APL by this time next year. Keep growing and inspiring ladies.

I've got a teeny, tiny update. I straightened a few days ago. It rained so it started poofing up almost immediately after I finished.

I'm in this weird in-between zone where the back is between waist and hip and the front (when brushed to the back) is between bsl and mb.

I don't wear my hair in "styles" and most of the time I'm in twists/twist-outs so I'm just going to leave it alone (aka Chicoro's method) and see how it goes.

Your hair seriously blows my mind :reddancer:

Well I've been natural for more than 3 years but I always wore my hair straight. So, in the 2006 shot in my sig my hair was terribly heat damaged from straightening before I found the boards. It was almost all completely straight when wet, but still looked pretty good when flat ironed.

In the 3 years since then, I have slowly cut off all of the straight pieces and I have a head full of healthy-ish 4a texture now. Its not perfect, but I am still working on it. My current length is a little bit longer than the 2009 shot in my sig. I haven't been able to take an updated photo because I am currently in a sew-in. I am hoping to be MBL around May of next year.

Thank god for LHCF! Who knows what my hair would be looking like without it :nono:

In october I will be natural for 7 YEARS. I transitioned for over 6 months then BCed.

Before I loced my hair my length was about BSL, stretched. Interestingly enough loced hair also has a shrinkage stage before it falls downward  So my locs fall past my neck w/o stretching.

I'm a 3 year-old natural. I BC'ed March 2007.

I'm MBL and hoping to be WL (or very close to it) by the end of the year. I need a trim, but I won't get one until I hit WL.

I'm not even bsl and I've been natural for 12 years. :ohwell: But I think we shouldn't assume that because someone's natural that they'll be retaining length. I mean, we never ask the question "oh, you've been relaxed for 5 years, so your hair should be long by now, right?" If you don't know how to retain length, natural or not, you won't get it.

Oh, I've been trying to grow now since Jan.

but uh......ur hair is def BSL stretched! (at least it looks it) Anyway, your hair is beautiful just the length it is.....If my hair could look like that (correction WHEN my hair looks like that) I will be so excited, length goals will go out the window.......so beautiful

i've been natural for 5.5 years and i am APL. in my defense i had a major setback with heat damage in 2007 and had to gradually cut off my hair over the course of 20 months b/c i refused to bc all over again. I was shoulder length in Fall of 2009 when i found lhcf. I should probably be chasing bsl this coming fall. if i knew in 2004 what i knew now i know i'd be swinging and swanging healthy blunt mbl hair or u shaped waist length. so, like mwedzi said one can't assume that folx have been caring for their hair all 3 + years.

Such an inspiration ladies!! I can't wait till I'm able to post some news...any news lol.

Keep up the great work.

Don't mind me, just marking my spot. I'll be 15 weeks this Friday. 3 years seems like ages away. .. by then I'll be a college grad and hopefully working with the Peace Corps
