Now that I've made 3 years in August, I can share a little.

I'm not where I thought I would be, after a few setbacks, I am here:

I just got a 1/2 inch trim on Saturday, so I should be BSL by December. My goal is MBL, so I'm getting there slowly but surely.

Health for my hair is truly more important to me now than length, but I'm so greatful for what I've gained!

I just made 3 years yesterday. I haven't had my hair straightened since maybe May so I have no idea how long it is. I would say full SL and approaching APL. I did lose at least whole years worth of hair to dye and a bunch of cutting though. I bced at about 5.5 months post and I only had about 2 inches of hair afterward. It wasn't even really long enough to braid in some spots.

Thanks for updating ladies!

Lynnie and Nice and Wavy: You both have beautiful hair!

Thank you for the compliment, now let me pass out.... :thud: because you put me in the same sentence with Lynnie and her hair....oh my...I'm humbled to say the least....her hair is absolutely, beautiful...thick and long and I drool everytime I see her hair:yep:

I can't wait to see your hair straightened...I'm sure it's long and pretty:yep:

Lynnie B - Your hair is beautiful

*Update*

I'm approaching BSL (about 2 inches away). I've been wearing my hair in two-strand and Senegalese twists and using Ayurveda.

Thanks for updating ladies!

Thanks ladies!

N&W (hush girl, you've made some great progress! That hair in your picture is flawless, really!!).

Ivie, I bet you'll be BSL in December!

Know what I've learned since hangin' around hairboards?

That any and everything is possible with knowledge, time and lots and lots of PATIENCE:yep:. The proof is right here on this board with all the lovely heads of relaxed and natural hair running around in here!! All of it is so fun, encouraging, inspiring and may I please say - Empowering.

I just wish more women had an opportunity to get online and learn what's possible...

Three year anniversary I was BSL. This is my fourth year and I'm now MBL. I hope to be WL for my fifth year anniversay.

I wish I were 3 years in, but have had great frowth since finding this site and learning more about my hair. I will be 2 years fully natural in jaunary 2010 and am currently a tad bit past shoulder blade. I can hardly wait to see where I am in another year. I transitioned for 15 months before I finally bc'd last january.

This is a great thread
This month marks, my second full year natural. Hopefully I can be at APL in 6-12 months !!!!

I've been natural about 3 years now and I am armpit length, I was brastrap length but had to cut quite a bit after going too long in between detangling sessions and experiencing a lot of knots from my wash and go's.

I have been reading that wash and goes are the main cause of knots. which suck because was and goes are so easy, but deadly

I'm apl stretched (and this is pulling a section of hair with my hands *not* heat stretched) and neck length shrunken. I'm curious as to how much more length I'll gain since I'm expecting and how much I'll lose/retain once postpartum.

Well I'm off to dust my ends (I do that twice a year...about 1/4 inch each time).

HHG ladies!

I made 3 years last month. My progress isn't all that stellar. I'm BSL with my last bits of relaxer on the ends.

I'm not even bsl and I've been natural for 12 years. :ohwell: But I think we shouldn't assume that because someone's natural that they'll be retaining length. I mean, we never ask the question "oh, you've been relaxed for 5 years, so your hair should be long by now, right?" If you don't know how to retain length, natural or not, you won't get it.

Oh, I've been trying to grow now since Jan.

I'm below bsl now. :yep:

wow - I'm so far away from 3 yrs natural...especially if you don't count my transitioning time!

I can't wait till I can post in a thread like this! :spinning:

One more year, one more year!

Wow - it's been a year, already!!!

Urm, I'm pretty sure I'm at APL. I still don't have a camera (one more week!!), but just based on a 'pull test', I'm pretty sure I'm there.

I'm still shoulder/neck length shrunken, and I don't see that changing any time soon. :look:

wait, are you ladies counting your transition time or just the date you BC'ed?
if its just the BC date..i have a whole 3 years to go..but if im talkn about the day i got my last relaxer..id have 1.5 years to go.

I count from when I BC'd, because I basically went 'bald' - I dyed my hair, and there is no dye left in my hair, so I might as well have started with nothing.

I think that transitioning ladies should start from the date of their last relaxer - it keeps things consistent, because if you transition for a year, and then BC, you have a years worth of natural hair on your head. :yep:

I have been natural for 8 years since my last relaxer. My hair is pretty much creeping along in terms of gaining length. I am no longer making giant gains in reaching and retaininl ength. Right now I am just maintaining it at the waist length. It is pretty much just below my natural waist line. I haven't straighened it or trimmed it since Feb 2008, which was about 19 months ago. That is not part of a strategy, just lack of an opportunity to get it done. I hope to get it straightened between now and February 2010Health wise, it is very shiny and thick. I am still learning and learn new things all the time regarding hair.
