I am almost three years natural. I got two months to go. I transition for 6 months and then cut it all off, April 11, 2006. My hair is ARMPIT. YEAH BOY but I wont' claim it until April 11, 2009 then I will post my picture.

Its been 4 years since I've decided to go natural and My length at its longest (at the end of Nov. 2008) I was an inch and a half away from brastrap straightened, but I became bored with the bland long length of my hair so I cut away 4 to 5 inches. I like my shorter do, but I do miss the length lol
I love that pic in you siggy!

I am 9yrs into my naturalness and I have gone through so many phases. At first I was really all about my hair and spend alot of time on it doing dc's every week and trying new things. Then I went through a phase where I really didn't care about and didn't do much. I have had almost waist length hair (straight) and then chopped off like 10 inches then grew it out again.

Now I am back into my hair and I would like to grow it long again (it is currently almost BSL).

6 years... but I've BC'd down to .5 inches or less a grand total of FIVE times during the last 6 years, so... I'm currently somewhere between neck and shoulders. :ohwell:

I'm at 2 years 8 months, not quite 3 years yet and my longest length is 1/2" from BSB. I have natural layers. I would have been past BSB by now but those single strand knots were really kicking my a$$.

Dry, crinkly, zigzaggy ends are the devil. There is no hope for them because they lack moisture and are porous. Snap snap, so snip snip.

Why is there no hope? Mine are dry and crinkly, but they're not splitting.

I transitioned for 15 months before chopping in May '07 so I think I can squeak in and qualify . Longterm transitioning can make things :spinning: at times.

I'm midback with a nape that's 1/2-1" from waist length. Hope to be able to officially claim it by my BC anniversary!

I transitioned for 7 months. Then I cut the remaining relaxed ends off, which left me with neck length hair. That was in 2001, I reached waist length in January 2009. It was truly a journey filled with learning process, set backs, shedding tears over chunks of lost hair, endless product combination experimentation... But now that I look back it was so worth it.:yep:

I am at APL. I started my natural journey 2001. However, I cut my hair many times in between then and now. An inch there, 3-4 inches here...

I just decided to try to grow my hair as long as possible and I am going to stop cutting my hair. Maybe a trim here and there but no chops.

TQ

It will be three years since my BC in March. I transitioned for 12 months (and t weeks) and did the BC with about 5" of natural hair. So I guess that's technically four years ((thinks))...

My hair is now between brastrap and midback length, closer to midback, stretched. It's neck length unstretched.

It's been 4+ years for me. I just recently discovered my hair is almost APL when stretched. I've had an amazing amount of hair growth since my big haircut at the end of 2007/beginning of 2008 (postpartum hair loss).

When unstretched it sits just above my shoulders. I never wear it straightened.

well i must be doing something wrong because i've been natural for 7 years now, BC on 1/1/02 and my hair is a little past shoulder length.

I am at shoulder length. My hair would probably be longer, however, I was so ill informed about retaining length until i joined this forum.

When I first posted to this topic was almost at APL. Then I grazing APL. Now I am claiming APL...LOL

I'll be celebrating my 3rd nappyversary in november 2009! Saving my spot already.

Great thread btw. Keep it coming ladies.

November of this year will make 5 years for me :) My last wave-nouveau touch-up was Aug/Sept 2002 and I transitioned from Nov. 02-Nov.04 via braids and sometimes cornrows. I started off at APL but since I didn’t really know how to care for my hair it gradually went from APL to shoulder. For 3 years, I maintained my hair at this length with a lot of setbacks: cutting, too much manipulation which caused breakage, knots and tangles, jumping on and off bandwagons and not knowing how to retain length. It wasn’t until the end of 07/beginning of 08 that I decided to just keep it simple and most importantly be patient. I’m currently APL (4 inches from BSL).

I'm a little over 3 years and am BSL. I'm hoping that by Dec. I'll be mid-back lenght since I'm laying off all the heat and wearing protective styles!

***UPDATE***

I've been natural now for 3.5 years and my hair is MBL. Hopefully, I should be able to claim WL in 09!:drunk:!

My third anniversary was in July. I transitioned for 14 months. My hair is just below hip length when stretched and of variable, but certainly shorter, lengths when dry.

WHAT??? You were basically natural for 4 years and 2 months and you are hip length???/ :shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked:

PLEASE TELL ME YOUR REGIMEN!!!!

I had my last relaxer in Nov of 2002. Transitioned for about 2 years. So I have been fully natural for 4 years. I am mid back length.

I've got a teeny, tiny update. I straightened a few days ago. It rained so it started poofing up almost immediately after I finished.

I'm in this weird in-between zone where the back is between waist and hip and the front (when brushed to the back) is between bsl and mb.

I don't wear my hair in "styles" and most of the time I'm in twists/twist-outs so I'm just going to leave it alone (aka Chicoro's method) and see how it goes.

Oooh, this thread is right on time. I've been feeling disappointed in my journey. I see folks are all over the place.
I've been natural for over 15 years. I've always hovered between SL and MBL. I have been almost WL but with raggedy ends. I want healthy hair so since Jan 2009, I've been working on my healthy hair journey. It seems like the growth is slow but steady - I've been stuck at MBL for a while now.

Lynnie B - Your hair is beautiful

*Update*

I'm approaching BSL (about 2 inches away). I've been wearing my hair in two-strand and Senegalese twists and using Ayurveda.

I've been natural about 10 years. I am currently BSL unstretched/WL stretched. My goal is to be MBL unstretched. I think that will mean TL stretched, but I'm not sure. Longest I've been is TL.
