Hair usually grows 6 inches a year, so it takes a while, but then again a year goes by fast sometimes!

Stick with it. Track your growth with a shirt if you want. It's not fun waiting, but the great thing is you have all these celebs showing how to be gorgeous with all kinds of lengths.

What's your regimen?

It definitely comes in time. I say give yourself 1 to 1 1/2 years before giving up. Remember everyone's hair grows 6-8" per year. Just keep stretching, moisturizing as needed, no combing and definitely deep conditioning and you should see some change.

I didn't get hair pass NL until I reached my 20s and started deep conditioning with heat. So hang in there and keep doing searches here on the site. Trust me, something will come through for you. Most of us have been through this. :yep:

Lol I wish. :perplexed

Don't be sad or discourage when I joined last year I was in awe of all of the beautiful heads of hair on this site . Once I saw that there were women with waist length whose hair textures were similar to mine I got super optimistic and that sparked me to try and grow my hair long. So I started taking pictures of my hair after each relaxer and I began to see my progress. With all of the information offered on this forum it's no reason that you shouldn't be able to grow your hair long , go for it girly !

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. My hair only grows 3 inches a year. But I believe it could grow better if I my diet and exercise was on point.
Girl, I exercise, drink lots of water, take my supplements...no matta. I do not get 6 inches per year. :nono: If that was the case I'd have about 10 inches of hair right now, and I know that I do not have that anywhere on my head, lol. So like some of the ladies have said, I am just trying to focus on the health of the hair I have, keeping my ends together, and enjoying the process. It definitely gets frustrating, and I know how you feel. Trust me! I never had "long" hair as a child, so I often wonder just how far I can go in this hair journey.

I told myself that I'm going to my 20 year HS reunion (in 2013) with a BAA that's all my own, so I focus on that. I've got about 4 years to get something done, and in that time I just need to focus on health, and go from there. :yep:

I hope you decide to stick around! Like others said, try to stick to a good regigimen and then focus on something else. It takes a long time for hair to grow. Just don't get bored with it and go back to old way just when you are starting to make progress.

I don't like when members say things like this. Yes it can be very discouraging but trust with the little you've learned so far, you wouldn't want to go back to the same old, same old. The ladies have given you good advice and you should listen, seriously.

I only joined last year but my hair has come a long way and is doing very well. I was SL when I joined but now I'm on my way to MBL. I know how you feel, I've been there but you can't let it get you down. :bighug:

I agree with the others. Start looking at others progress as a source of encouragement that you too can grow longer healthier hair.

Hiyah!! Be encouraged girl and give it time! The hardest thing about this journey is patience. Develop a simple regimen and always take photos after your relaxer touch-ups. Look, I have NEVER had long hair in my life..the longest it's been is about two inches past SL. But guess what? Check me in 2 1/2 years and I will be MBL.

Share your regimen with us, including hair products. We will all chime in and offer feedback. You said it best in your original post, we worked (and are still working) hard for it. But once you have a consistent regimen, its really a breeze. It becomes second nature. The rest is just a matter of time and patience. So let us know what you are doing, and how long you have been doing it.

Well at first my regimen was a little crazy..with alot of products, so the past month or so I chopped it down. I live in south florida and the weather is either really hot or rainy..so it makes no sense to wear my hair straight.

Okay some my hair is tex-laxed. I wash it every week with Kera-care or Victoria Secrets so sexy shampoo. I co-wash once in while, if I go to the gym. I deep condition with Silicon Mix or La bomba. Lately I have been wearing a phony pony alot..and using VO5 moisture milk as a leave in. That seems to be working.

Hi, I agree with a lot of the responses that you have been given. It has only been 3 months since your join date (although you could have been a lurker like me before joining). Be patient. Take care of your body, shampoo & condition often. When I joined, I was going through a lot with a stylist. Breakage, over relaxing you name it. I started here shoulder length and am now beyond waist length. I shampoo twice a week, condition, rotate the use of hair polisher/vitamin E oil, rollerset and bun. I relax every 8-10 weeks instead of every 4 weeks. Use the pics as an inspiration and let nothing deter you from your goal.

In the beginning of my journey I felt the same way. I used to think that my hair was never down my back so what gave me the audacity to think I could have it now. So I set my goal to a little past shoulders and that was 3 years ago and now may hair is on it's way to MBL. Don't give up, in the beginning it took me a while to see a difference. But I kept with it and stayed motivated and believed that I could have healthy hair. Just don't stop believing and you'll get there. Your hair will be as long as you want it.
