Either by email or in person you need to remind him that your supervisor placed you there, until you get a computer to use. Also, that computer is COMPANY property, not personal. You can look at what ever you damn well please. And if during your lunch break you decide to sit there and look on LHCF, that is YOUR business and YOUR choice and he can NOT do anything about it.

You need to address it though, because you are an intern doesn't mean you are "less than". Don't let him disrespect you like that and have others see you getting mistreated...that's when everyone joins in and sees you as a doormat...that can't defend herself.

Ladies I work in the IT industry. They(management) can check whatever they want. If you don't want people at work to know your business don't go on certain sites. I try not to even check my personal emails (yahoo, hotmail) at work. And definitely no LHCF. Every site you go onto is something you may be sharing with others. So if it's something you don't mind then have at it but if you would rather keep it to yourself then don't go there...even during lunch...because it's still a work computer whatever the time of day

OP, that guy was a jerk though...I call that "loser-ish" behaviour. What is he reading? Maybe he does want tips for growing his hair..hmm.

It was wrong for him to put you on blast the way he did, completely uncalled for. But you shouldn't be on personal websites,forums or blogs at work. Unless its your personal computer (laptop) most times the company you work for is at liberty to check everything you do, and if they don't like it you can get in trouble for it. Most companies have a email/website clause type deal they go over during orientation and what-not.

FYI, it's a misconception that "deleting" history is actually deleting everything.
There are other areas information is stored and can be retrieved...history deletion is just "surface" cleaning.

unless you are REALLY into computers, the average person doesn't know how to go back and retrieve all of that info. the IT people can do it if they know what the hell they are doing or are so inclined to do so, but the most you can do is delete the cookies and browser history.

i got away with murder at my last job cause i was the only one using my computer, plus i had it on lock so only the IT guy could get on and i was cool with him. as long as it wasn't porn or some crap he didn't care about my eleventy million hair boards.

No disrespect, but if you are an intern, you want to make a good impression and eventually work with the company after your internship is over..so I would def. limit my use searching private info on a company's computer..it's best not to search the internet..if you want a job after this..i'm pretty sure he has better releationships with the other co-workers or supervisors in the company, which could hamper your chances of geting the perm job or ending your intenship..you can look at lhcf at home or on ur cell..it's not that serious...your future is..
