OK, here's a pic of my cornrow base. See how thick it is? It's really hard for me to get a flat weave because of how thick the braids end up... no matter how small I try to make them. ETA: which is why my hair got mildewy in the first place. I cannot get my hair to dry when it's under the weave! Hence today's vinegar incident.

And a pic of my hair in a puff looking crazy.

The one in the gray shirt is from this evening. I had DH upload it just now so that you all can see I took the weave out! Loose and free baby!

Look at all that pretty hair and that puff is to die for. Girl you better wear your hair, shoot im trying to get mine to grow and you hinding yours:rolleyes:lol.

Do you really think your hair looks crazy in that puff? I mean really seriously?

Since you can cornrow, I'm sure you'd have amazing braidouts. Maybe you can start with that and see what happens.

:lachen: @ these posts!!! I'm so sorry OP about the vinegar. I know that had to hurt. Stay away from those weaves!!!! All that luscious hair needs to breathe girl!

Your hair is beautiful. Wear it with pride!!!!!!!!!!!! If you don't want that puff I'll gladly take it!!

Thank you! Sometimes I have worn cornrows with just my real hair around the house... when I leave I put my wig on over them. DH hates them. He says the cornrows make me look like a prison inmate! :jail: :perplexed

I guess I just have to accept the need to spend lots of time styling my hair... for it to just get sweated out every day when I exercise... but I just don't have the time or patience...

I'll have to figure something out, though, because the weave is OUT! I'm almost finished undoing the cornrow base right now!

Wow, I am shocked that your DH feels that way. I wonder if your cornrows are the stylish type or just big ole ones going straight back. I personally get the most compliments from men about my hair when I wear cornrows, I do try to be very stylish with mines though

I understand the weave addiction OP, because I used to have one myself but maybe it's just time for you to hang them up. But what's with the vinegar? I've never heard that before in my life and I've been wearing weaves for a long time.

It's all in fun! I lub you and your hair! :bighug:
Ooh wee! Your hair would make some pretty twists because it's so thick!
It took me awhile to get the hang of doing them. I was like, how hard can this be :wallbash:
Trial and error and now I love them. I can wear them all week and then do a twist out on the weekends.

It's gonna take LOTS of practice... :perplexed

OMG. Your hair is FAB. You just need to find the right product to make the curls pop when it's dry.

Thanks! Any suggestions for making curls pop while dry?

Why would you want to wear fake hair when your hair is so gorgeous:nono:. I am so jelly. Love your hair!
Thanks, hon. Weaves allow me to not manipulate my hair so I can avoid breakage... except when I get damage from the weave. :drunk:

You have great hair!!!!

Regime plz:look:

Thanks! I do lots of co-washing, and I moisturize my hair daily with a mix of Kenra MC and water in a spray bottle. I keep it super simple by always wearing protective styles.

Thanks a lot :rosebud: I'm hiding it to make it grow... but then I kinda got addicted to the weave.

I tried a braidout... I did the cornrows last night and took them down this morning... :nono: :jester: So I just put it up. I don't like how my hair looks in a puff because it makes my face look fat.

OMG, it really really really hurt. And this is coming from a woman who had TWO C-sections.

lol, not so fast! I'm not giving it away!

I don't do them stylishly, since they are meant to keep my hair from tangling up between washes and make my hair flat enough to fit under a wig.

I remember when you were the Queen of Weaves! I was using vinegar to try to kill the funky mildew smell of my cornrow base. Because my hair is so thick it's hard to get it all the way dry under a weave... hence the funkiness. I got the tip to use vinegar off of another hair board. Yeah, not the best advice. It feels ever so nice when it's all over your eyeballs. :cry3:

Why did your hair smell like mildew? I airdry my weaves all the time and that never happened. But my hair isn't thick either so that may be why. Maybe you can sit under the dryer for an hour or so and then let it airdry the rest of the way?

You're right I was. I wear them on occasion now but not as much as I used to anymore. I go through these phases where I wear a weave for a while then I wear wigs then I wear my own hair and it just goes on and on. I'm so indecisive. IDK I guess I just got tired of covering my hair up all the time with other people's hair. After about 4 weeks I always start to miss my hair. I'm ready to take my braids out now and today only made 4 weeks. :ohwell: I'm gonna try to keep them in for 2 more weeks. I just wish my hair would grow out enough to where I could wear it in a bun everyday without adding any hair. It would be in a wet bun on top of my head everyday if I had my way. I can't be bothered anymore.

Are you kidding me? Well I'M glad the weaves aren't working for you! Stop the madness and go flaunt your real hair LOL The vinegar was a sign from God LOL j/k
If you don't practice doing your own hair you'll never learn. I say start with a ponytail and slap on some gel to the front. Your hair is gorgeous.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, what Boston Maria said.
