The only true set back I had was before LHCF and I got this fabulous dye job. I loved the color but since I didn't know how to care for it, it all broke off. Sometimes I wonder how long my hair would be. It sucks because my hair only grow about 1/4 inch a month so....
I'm starting to think stylist want to cut so often because they are cutting for even-ness(is that a word) and not health. I recently went to the shop and I prepped myself ahead of time to tell her I didn't want the ends trimmed. She is my stylist for 10 years plus so she gave me a hard time(along with my sister ) but she didn't trim. Anywho, the point is, I think they call your ends "raggedy" and all but usually they are talking about the unevenness which is inevitable. So your ends can look raggedy especially if you air dry.
