LHCF I need your help!!!

I think I messed up during my sew-in take down. You see...I forgot the ONE IMPORTANT step of adding conditioner to my braids before I took them out.....
At the moment my hair is taken out of the braids......and I have NOT detangled yet (scared I might cause myself a set back).

Is it possible that I can add the conditioner to my hair NOW that my braids are taken out....without causing any setback??

I'm on the edge right now...and could use some HELPFUL responses ASAP!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Separate it many sections.... you have to work in sections.... I would apply coconut oil or conditioner and detangle slowly from tips up to the root... just breathe and you'll be fine.

I think the water is what normally causes tangles. What kind of conditioner are you using?

I"m using herbal essence Hello Hydration.

Sent from my iPod touch using LHCF

As long as you haven't put water or shampoo in your hair yet you will be fine. I prefer to coat my hair with oil when working with braids that have been in a while but I know many ladies like conditioner. And some combine both. Use your fingers to separate your hair into smaller sections. Then remove the shed hair and detangle as gently as possible.

Thank you ladies for your input! It came right on time :).
Immediately after writing this posts I decided to separate my hair into four sections, apply HE Hello Hydration...let it sit for a while and then proceeded to detangle.

So far so good..however, I think I could've save alittle more hair if I would've put the condish on the braids first lol. I'll take this as a lesson learned.

For my other question: Would it be smart for me to do an Overnight DC and 'poo tomorrow? Since i'm sorta pressing for time seems like I will have to put off washing it until tmr....:(

Hair buddy! <3 PLEASE UPDATE US ON THE STATUS OF YOUR HAIR WHEN DONE.

Hair buddy!! :)
I definitely will do! I'm due for a relaxer this weekend...but I probably won't get it until a few more weeks has passed (gotta baby up my hair a bit..ya know?)
Please update me on yours as well!

Just a question, why is water on the hair a bad idea right now?

For many, if they have been in a weave or extensions for a while, there will be a lot of shed hair. This hair is usually easier to remove before applying water. Oils and conditioners can help separate the shed hair and the strands of the hair. Often times water will cause the shed hairs to tangle around the other strands more which can cause matting, knots or just frustrating detangling.

Obviously this varies with the head of hair but its a safe way to go.

It'll cause whatever tangles that maybe present to get tighter and possibly mat.

Wow I just learned something new...my hair is hidden atleast 5 days at a time and I always use water/shampoo 1st and end up with tangles smh...lesson learned :)
