lol..im one of those who don't care whats goin on in the background. Its not my business i could care less, just lookin at the hair. not scrutinizing if someone needs to lose or gain weight or needs makeup..etc:rolleyes:
thats y I always try to keep close crop and same ol background

I haven't had any negative comments yet, but it's probably because I only allow fotki members to leave comments. I think I had one girl say that I looked mean in one of my pictures but that's about it. :ohwell:

Regardless of what size you are that was rude, you have to ignore extreme ignorance. It happens in day to day life so you know it will happen online. They need Jesus girl.:grin:
 
I don't have a fotki, but I have albums here and have gotten weird/borderline-rude pms. I just shake my head and delete. The good thing is that I know who to avoid.

Oh--and I also close crop--the focus is the hair--pics that aren't about hair I have set to friends only.
 
I totally agree with everyone else, OP. Your hair is phenomonal and you should show it off. If you do get negative comments you should take comfort in knowing that it's only jeolousy.:yep:

Right! I'm reading this and thinking...people are all up in the background of the photo being nosy. When I'm looking at Fotkis i'm looking at hair. Too bad the haters and the coons ruin it for other people. But then again, isn't that usually the case?

Agreed. Just change your settings so only members can comment. I had some haters on my YouTube channel but I just blocked them and deleted their comments. Don't even give them the time of day or ruin your shine. Show your pretty hair, girl!
 
Yeah, take advantage of the settings that fotki has provided to help you feel comfortable. I received only one negative comment since 2005 and that was in my old fotki. Other than that, including my old fotki and my current one, I've only gotten love, suggests and encouragement, even from anonymous.

I notice things in the background all the time. I don't go looking for it...but sometimes it's hard to ignore. I know the person must have looked at the photo before they posted it so they are opening themselves up for criticism. Not saying it's right, but if you don't want people to talk about your back fat, dirty mattress with no sheets, old food on the floor, and junky bathroom then crop it out of the photo. That way, it's only about the hair and nothing else.

If someone posts a comment on your fotki that you feel is untrue, then I don't think there's a reason to be upset. If it made them feel better, then so be it. Don't waste your time allowing them to affect your emotions.
 
I just got this idea - considering all the changes and restrictions being introduced on fotki and unpleasant encounters.

A Hair/Beauty "specific" Photo hosting website just for US?

I'll be happy to volunteer to start working on something if any of us are interested in such a project.

What specific features would be nice to have on there if we were to build such a site? Please share your thoughts.

Seeing that it will be a way smaller community, I'm thinking we will have fewer stalker issues. I know Privacy has always been one of the Biggies for most of us.

Somebody left me an anonymous message the other day saying "girl you ugly" LMAO I laughed!! I was like damn at least let me see if you're uglier than me before you leave a comment LMAO I unfortunately now made it so that you can't leave anonymous messages, which is too bad because I get alot of anonymous people wanting help. Oh well.
 
Some people are so silly. I've had people call me gay and I get the wang all the time :lol: Don't sweat it.

I just got something like "thats so stupid that you blank out your face." one time. I just thought "wtf?"..and kept it moving.

I also look at whats in the background too..I can't help it.. my eyes just scan over the photo.

I've changed my settings so that only members can view my pics, and leave comments. Unless you're signed in, my albums and guestbook appear empty.
 
When I had my Fotki open, I didn't get any straight "haters", so to speak. Some nitpicking at my opinions (which seems pointless as...they were opinions...we all have them, they WILL be different at some point about SOMEthing) and a couple male stalkers...that's all. :look:
