I am considering dying my hair red like LaTavia from Destiny's Child had. I'm close enough to her complexion, and I think it would look nice.

Any brand recommendations?

I've been told by several stylists (as well as people who love to wear this color) that red fades the easiest. I have attempted red several times and it has always faded. I think, if your hair is strong enough, it's best to lift some color first (like going light brown) and then deposit or use a rinse. I purposely did this and although it will eventually fade, initially it will indeed be the red color you desire. I did the color gems demi-permanent in a copper color and then did a rinse in burgundy. It came out nice. HTH!

They are right. There's something about the molecules being larger which causes it to fade faster. It's always recommended for people w/red or auburn colors to wash in tepid water, never hot because it'll fade the color faster.
