My hair stylist gets on my nerves (VENTING)

I just did a 12 week stretch on my hur and I know that I had made APL. Well my stylist started talking about
how bad my ends were. Well they have been like that for months, why wasnt she worried about that 12 weeks ago before I got my hopes all high about making APL. Anyhoo, here are updates where I did not grow at all or at least thats what it looked like She should have got all those ends when she trimmed me 12 weeks ago! It does look fuller, so I'm not all that serious but dang...I so wanted to see APL...

My hair looks shorter, doesn't it?
Focus on the kittys nose thats my length marker..she butchered me.......my goal is to get to the bottom of the kittys mouth, then .......?

Your hair looks beautiful. It doesn't look that much shorter but when you look at it while focusing on the tat on your back I can see that it has moved up towards his nose a bit. Still pretty nonetheless.

Well, I'm not going to be so nice. I like folks to keep it real. Your hair is still gorgeous and not like she turned into a bob, but That lady got you. She cut off a lot of hair. It went from the inside of the mouth to the smallest longest part the nose and above.

Everyone is saying of it looks thicker, but a wash and flat iron (shop flat iron) would have done the trick too.

I wouldn't go back to her or I would be very specific in my request for a trim. Maybe bringing in a ruler would help her w/ her trimming abilities. Because your ends did not look damaged. Did you see any split ends?

I agree. Some stylist just don't want to believe you know what your doing with a relaxer stretch so it seems as if they want to punish you for it by chopping off your hair that grew. Maybe I'm crazy but :wallbash::wallbash: Its like that to me:sad:

ITA with the bolded!

Looks like she cut off an inch or two....Your ends looked good to me before though

But on the upside, I love the form/shape of it now, and if you just keep your ends up you'll be good to go, i would look at it as a spring start.

Yikes. I have to agree with the above two posters. Lesson learned. Do not go back to that stylist for trims: ruler or no ruler.

She cut off about half an inch, but the shape is gorgeous. The next time someone comes at you with scissors, stand your ground.

I agree. When they speak of "split ends", how can they see an individual split by ljust ooking at your hair? From my experience most stylist just see uneven hair and cut, they don't really actually go through your hair and check for splits. With that said. Don't go back. She cut ur hair shorter than it was before and you will never see any progress. I really feel that stylists believe that we can't grow long hair, so they just keep it neat and trimmed at SL or at the longest APL. The only time I see a stylist not be scissor happy is when they are dealing with 3a and down hair types. That hair could be FRIED and they would never trim or cut:nono:

I think your right about this:yep:

First- You have beautiful hair Stella! Second- Your ends looked fine and healthy to me in the first pic to me. Your stylist seems to like scissors a bit too much and I wouldn't go to her again, esp. if she doesn't ask for my input regarding my hair.
On the upside, it looks like you made apl very slightly though :yep: <snapping an imaginary line at your armpit in the last pic>.

Thanks everyone for your opinions, I really appreciate it.

She's a dang perfectionist. Stylist like that get on my nerves. Like I am just there to get the basics.

I will let her know that I thought she cut off too much. She will listen. She is a very good friend, and with God's blessings, I will have a great friend, stylist and a head of long hair in due time. The reason that I say this is because she really takes care of her hair and it is off the chain. Well groomed, SL, and thick. I think she would not do anything malicious. After about 11 yrs here in TN do you know she is the first stylist that I have found that does not overprocess my hair and use too hot heat. Many stylist that I know dont take a lot of time on themselves, put glued tracks in their hair. Have a different color in every months and I definitely don't want them in my head either. She'll listen. You are right though that if she doesn't listen than I am out of there. I am overall pleased with my hair so I'm lucky in that sense. It'll grow back, God is good.

Be careful some stylist believe you should trim your hair every relaxer....And convince you that you need a trim each time...If every time you hop in her chair to get a relaxer and she wants to give you a trim....I don't care how good she is its time to find a new stylist....

Yep, she got you. She "trimmed" off a lot of hair.

Thanks everybody.

I am going to take another pic in a couple of weeks after my touch up settles and after a couple of washes. It may look a little fuller and fall a bit longer then, I hope so because an inch I can get in a month or so,which will make me only an inch behind which I guess I can live with.

In the process of fussing....I forgot to tell your hair looks great...Very healthy and thicker...

Yea don't get it twisted. You still cute, you still swanging, and your hair is definitely on point and on it's way to meeting your goal and beyond. :yep:

And yes I used the word you and not you're on purpose. lol!

Oh:ohwell:
You don't have to trim with every style?
did not know that....thx....I will see how she reacts next time I relax and ask her to skip the trim. If she get an attitude thats it for me.

Ends shmends. The fact remains that she DID NOT respect your wishes. It looks good, but I can see why you're mad.

It does look thicker. Try n learn 2 trim urself, I hav pics in my fotki. God bless

Your hair looks well-shaped. With proper care on your part, you should not have to get any more trims or dustings for a long, long while. Your hair looks beautiful! And next time you go for a service and your stylist grabs the scissors, just knock them out her damn hand. :yep:

Honestly It really doesn't seem that she has butchered you. It looks like it's in a better shape but not much difference in length. And your hair is very pretty.

Maybe its me, but I cant tell a difference. It looks like before your hair was flat and unstraightened and now the ends are bumped. It looks better now.

Your hair does look very pretty! :yep:

If your stylist tries to undermine your wishes again, insist on no trimming. Really put your foot down. Remember, you know your hair better than she does. If you don't think you need a trim, you probably don't.
