Is anyone NOT on the Ayuvedic bandwagon?

Im not a big wagon jumper but the ayervedic thing just seems too complicated for me. I like it simple. I may try the shampoo bars but dont want my hair turning red/brown. And Ive always used the oils so I guess I dont see it as new.

Does that make sense?

Yea here is NajahFace youtube home page. http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=Najahface

The spiritual aspect. Well here are a couple web pages I found while looking for information on Indian Hair Care.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayurveda

http://www.holheal.com/ayurved3.html

Just a few things. I don't see anythign wrong with using natures gifts to remedy the illness of the body or treat the body. I see many of these things in the bible, using certain herbs and things of that nature to treat illnesses.

But, I started to have to do too much research in understanding my sign and how to use my sign to determine how the earth etc affects me and how to do a, b, and c according to all these holistic things. I'm good.

it is really not complicated at all. the thing with me is that when I first joined this forum, I had my CON (green label) poo, Cathy Howes conditioner, ORS replenishing pack conditioner (to soften after Cathy's) and Cantu Shea Butter to moisturize. MY HAIR WAS GROWING VERY NICELY!!! But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I had to try EVERYTHING ON THIS FORUM TO SEE IF IT WORKS BETTER THEN WHAT I ORIGINALLY HAD AT HOME! I am not saying that I did not learn anything on here. I learned a lot!!! But once I learned the key elements to what my hair needs (from the list above) I should have stayed with that. But hey, you live and learn. I am quite sure I was not the only one who experienced this.:lachen:

I am not saying that the oils and powders was/is not doing anything for me but why do I keep spending money?:wallbash: To see if my hair could grown any faster??? I have a lot of products that I am going to list soon to sell/give away that I JUST HAD TO TRY!!!:wallbash:

I'm not. I use some Indian product but I use alot of other products also. I waiting to see how everyone's hair grows from this and then maybe I'll rethink joining the Ayuvedic club.

I have some oils but they stunk so bad that I had to stop using them for awhile.
I've never tried the Ayurvedic stuff, but I know what you mean about stinkin a$$ oils... I can't put anything on my hair that stinks. I don't want to be walking around smelling like a big 'ol box of I'll Be Dayums!

I haven't read any of the threads. I don't even know what those products are or what they do.

However, I skipped CW threads for 3 years and now they are a staple. Maybe I should give those threads a look-see.

4 HOURS LONG???? What do you do that is 4 hours long?

yup 4 hrs. just about...(but I'm including EVERYTHING within that time)

prepoo 1 hr
wash
dc
rollerset under dryer 1 -1 1/2 hrs
flat iron roots
saran silk wrap

....with occasional breaks

Hey girl,
See my thing is adding powders to water and leaving it and mixing this with that...Its just too much work I like to take one bottle (more like two!! lol) but just squeezing and applying and rinsing then do what ever.
Which is why I thought I might try the shampoo bar because it seems easy.

I dunno though...

I am not.

I mean, I do use henna every 4 weeks, but I would not say I am on the bandwagon. I even read a beauty book about Ayurveda hoping to find some natural way to deal with my eczema. But, solely using all the powders and oils and things - NOPE. Henna is trouble enough for me, but I like the conditioning. I even mix in other powders, but I would never consider that Ayurveda after reading this book. That is only a TINY part of it.

Edited to add:

I did not like that Shikaki (powder or soap) as a shampoo alternative, either :nono: Glad the powder was free and the soap was only $2!

I can understand the paste but have you considered the rinses? I like those!

I agree with you D, I want to see numerous positive reactions and results to it, than MAYBE I will think about it. It does seem a bit complicated and unfamiliar and I just want to take care of my hair simply and reap the benefits...

I know what thing, If I'm adding powders to water, that powder better be flour and if I'm gonna be brewing something, it better be tea... tea and buscuits LOL That stuff sounds like cooking:grin: Seriously though, the PJ in me wants to try it, but a lot of that stuff you have to buy online. I'm afraid of getting something other than want I expected- or it may stink.

MTAiryHoney that is TOO FUNNY! :lachen:

ohhhh please ellaborate! so when u do a rinse u don't have to make a paste?

You use the powders except you adds more of a water ratio to make it a tea. Check out her website at http://www.myspace.com/naturalhairsecrets

I used about 2 tbsp to 2 cups of hot watet and 1 cup of cold water.

ETA: I tried Ayurveda method last night. (Similar to Candy C method) I pre treat my hair overnight with amla oil. The next day I srcitched my hair with shikakai oil for 5-10 minutes and oiled the ends with skikakai and amla oil and vatika oil. When it came time to wash, I used Candy C SkikAmla mix along with 1 tsp of Brahmi powder. I followed her directions for rinsing with the powders. I then deep conditioned with heat. I used Candy C cream and oil moisturizer and my hair is like  WOW! I LOVE this stuff! I will stick to it and see how it goes.

I'm not. I used henna for the first time on the 6th, and occasionally I'll use amla oil, but not consistently enough to be considered on the Ayuvedic bandwagon.

I did however want to try adding some shikakai powder to my conditioners since I co-wash daily. But, right now I just don't see the big hurry to do it since co-washing is sufficient right now. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I haven't been persuaded otherwise to do so.

I'm not on the bandwagon. I do use coconut oil as a sealant tho because it's light. I just foung out what Ayuvedic procedures were a few days ago and I don't think its worth all that trouble for me because my hair is healthy, growing at the fastest rate I've ever seen it grow, thicker and stronger than ever already. I don't think anything else is gonna matter too much.

I'm not on the ayurvedic bandwagon, although I have read a bit about ayurveda for the body (food etc).
I can't jump on every bandwagon, I just do what feels good for my hair. For me, it's all about simplicity. :)

I'm not... it seems like too much work and too much mixing.. plus, from what I gather, that stuff does not smell good and that's a big :nono: for me...

Has anyone tried it meaning went out and brought all the powders/oils that was recommended and was like..."forget this" and went back to your original reggie. Not saying that it did anything bad to your hair but the PJsm just got a hold of you?

I think this is me.
I just got a bunch of the stuff for it and well my hair doesnt feel any better than it did before. I made the wash mix and the oils and put them on and was soo excited. Man my hair didnt like it at all. My hair felt like straw and it didnt do all that much for me.. Granted I only used it twice, but those two times are enough to make me think twice about using it. I like the way the oils feel, but i have to say not so much to the wash mix.... All those powders and my hair came out in clumps... I think i will stick to what i know

I'm not on it...I only use my cassia obovata mix on occasion now<----and I was using it during the henna bandwagon not the full Ayurveda bandwagon that is currently taking over. I was going to try to do it monthly but now I figured it just easier to deep condition with plain Ultra Black Hair conditioner. I don't want to mix up the mud all the time. :perplexed The only oil I've used is Dabur Vatika. An old member turned me on to that back in 2004. I haven't used it in YEARS. I would like to make my own Jaborandi oil from the Jaborandi leaves so that will be the only thing I will try. <---Though you don't hear peeps talk much about Jaborandi aka Indian Hemp.

I'm not yet, but I would like for someone to post some reputable websites where I can order Amla oil, Shikakai oil and Vatika oil and Bhranghi thingie. I know this is mispelled.
