I had to start over 4 times in my life. twice since I have been on LHCF. Right now (4th) is due to thin ends and overprocessing.

So now my goal of APL will have to be pushed back to 2009 :(

How many times did you have to start over?

Starting over like totally changing your regimen or starting over like cutting all your hair off?

I changed my regimen once. I went from washing and dc'ing once a week to co washing daily. Before my hair was doing good, but now it's thriving and I don't think I'll be changing anything any time soon

Cutting it off.

When i first found LHCF i ended up chopping my APL relaxed hair to shoulder length (the ends were thin), then the hairdresser at the salon chopped it to just about ear length.

I think i still didn't know how to take care of my relaxed hair so i decided to transition then i did the BC.

Hopefully no more chopping for me.

7 times going back and forth from texlaxed to natural! I could've been brastrap by now!:wallbash: If I texlax my hair, I will never BC again!

2 times about to make it 3. First time was just cutting about 4-5" of bad hair. Second was last year the BC. This time I may just shave it all and go Meshell Ndegeocello.

1 time and that was in August. I decided that I wanted to get some braids put in because school was starting and it would cut down on having to deal with it on a daily basis. Anyway...the woman who braided it took it upon herself to seal my ends with superglue and glued about an inch of my hair in the braids. I didn't realize what she was doing until I happened to see the superglue laying over on the counter. It's been 3mos now and I'm still recovering. I cried for days but I was determined to show that "ISH" that she couldn't take me down that easy. Now I'm growing my hair back with a vengence :yep:.

8 times since 2003 when I first went natural, I haven't had long hair since then, I get frustrated at 9 months with my natural hair because I wanted length then I would relax it and then the next month I cut what I had to the little newgrowth and go back natural, after 4 years I could have had that big fluffy fro I always wanted, But it was never about my natural texture it was the length. So I am on it again and I know people are sick and tired of me LOL!!! So I don't say nothing, I just do it, I need to change my avitar because that was when I texlaxed a month ago.

Hopefully this will be it because I really hate doing relaxers and my husband said he is tired of seeing me baldheaded LOL!!!!! He encourages me to stay natural. I am really gonna try to make this my last time:sad:

Four times... Once in 8th grade, then again later in 8th grade, 10th grade, and then my freshman year of college. Two times were from breakage from braids. And then I decided to BC so that made 5. But the last one was by choice.

When I was about 10 I had my first relaxer-fabulaxer, for swimming lessons. I guess you would say I transitioned back to natural. I cringe when I think about my already relaxed hair being pressed with that comb. All my life, I have relaxed my hair then transitioned back to natural. I would just get it pressed.

There was only one time when I had to get a cut and that was in the 7th grade when I got sneaky with sun-in.The spots where I used it broke off. I got fussed at majorly. After that I started getting my hair pressed and relaxed again sometime in high school. I would do "stretches" I guess. Since I was in high school, I had pretty decent beauticians at home and here, but I didn't know how to take care of my own relaxed hair, and used horrible products at home, like infusium.

I feel so soory for you....that why i'm selfbraider... glad that you're overcoming it....

Twice, in 2004: I cut all my hair down to like a 1/4'' from BSL 'cause I was dyeing my hair every 3 weeks no DC, and Blowdrying with a cheap synthetic brush and NO leave-in *wince*.....needless to say my hair looked like straw and was really thin...went back natural

Then in 2006 I was going good, then I got 'bored' with it and put a texturizer in my hair ( had no idea what I was doing) still too lazy to DC
and BRUSHING my hair every day!! yep... was stuck @ neck length for awhile

Then I found LHCF and now I'm doing much better...

1 time since LHCF. From a MTG disaster (too strong 4 my head). The MTG disaster led to a weave disaster, then a second weave disaster. At the end, 2 years of LHCF progress was down the drain.

It's been another 2 years since the series of disasters and I'm still trying to get back to where I was pre MTG. I would have easily been BSL by now. Instead I'm creeping to APL :wallbash:

twice.

1. The first time was when the "tail" of my hair reached waist length but the sides weren't growing as fast so I cut the "tail" and I was right below BSL length.

2. The second time, when some lady (*sigh*) cut my hair in half without permission. See the "my last pity party" thread.

My no-permission cut was over a month ago and I am seeing MUCH growth/progress now, thanks to the stuff I learned on lhcf.

I have cut my hair upto my chin a number of times.

I mainly found myself cutting it because it looked thin and unhealthy.

Back in 2006, I had a really bad dye job and so I cut it upto my ears, but even so, I still had a lot of damage and the crap continued to fall out :ohwell:

But all that was before LHCF. I have had one mishap since LHCF and it was a protein overload.

Only once for my BC. After I found LHCF I decided to transition and then go natural. After the BC I decided to loc 1 year later. So technically, I've only had to chop/cut my hair drastically 1 time. I still can't believe how brave I was back then...that's the power of LHCF! :yep:

Cutting was hard but I've never regretted it. I love my hair now!

I've started over many times with chops because of the damage i suffered when i allowed stylists, to relax my hair. Thankfully, i found a good stylist who relaxes my hair well,, I'm thinking of going back to more a natural look, possibly textuzing as i'm not very keen on bone straight hair anymore. I won't chop my hair but i'll keep it trimmed to my current length of bra-strap until i grow out my relaxed hair.

Prior to LHCF I only BC once and it wasn't even to transition it was just for a different relaxed look. When I started going bald in the crown I gave up relaxers because it made my bald spot more pronounced  I transitioned with braids (although I didn't know that's what I was actually doing...this was back in 1996) From then til I joined LHCF I kept my hair hidden in braids. My hair grew quite well while it was braided up but as soon as I would take the braids down it was breakage city :wallbash: and I never retained any length. Didn't know anything about co-washes, never DC'd....I would wash then rebraid, wash then rebraid and on and on for almost 10 years. When I got sick of having SL hair is when I found LHCF. I *finally* figured out how to get pass SL only to have another braids related setback. :wallbash: Every since then I decided no more braids for me :nono: I then moved on to flatironing once per week and wearing pincurls....as pretty as they looked my spidey sense kicked in and warned me off of the constant heat use (even once a week for ME is too much)....after much experimenting I found out that I can wear my hair in a wash n' go out in public without looking like a H.A.M. and that's been the consistent path that I've been following since September. It's definitely working because I have regained all of the inches I've lost from my setback earlier this year. :yep: :D

3 times for me.

Seems like the more you know, the harder it becomes to keep your hair.

I see people with long hair everywhere and their ends are thin. I always say that I'll never let my hair grow-out if it's thin.

5x since 1994. I came to LHCF after I decided to cut my own hair and my stylist styled it tapered above my ears. Since then, I've had one major BC from a solid shoulder length (highlights, trying to wear it out and "do" it) to neck length in Oct. 2006 and I did another major trim in early '07 because my texlaxed ends felt dry and crinkly (even though my W&G looked good).

too many
2003, evil weave (distroyed my shoulder length hair left me with 3 inchs all around)
july 2005, new relaxer after year long transition (ruined my transition)
feb 2007, big chop (has mbl length cut to underarm)
nov 2007. big cut (had past brastrap length , blunt cut to 1-2 inch past underarm)

BUT my hair is now all one length including my bangs, blunt cuts are easier to grow out and now all i have to focus on is the growing out my hair. :)

Since LHCF: 1-relaxer mishap (improper rinsing after self relax)
2- overprocessed/thin ends ( no point in growing brittle,
see-through hair :look:)

At least 3 times in the last 5 years from overprocessing. But, only once since finding LHCF. I got a deep trim this past April to get rid of overprocessed ends. Hopefully, it will be smooth sailing from now on.

Twice due to over-processing and one really bad haircut. Both times were before LHCF. I changed stylists and discovered the board right after the second mishap and haven't looked back since.
