Thanks Honey -- I'm going to try yogart with my next treatment and see what happens.

Pectin works very well also. I never get drips or messes; the henna is easy to apply and rinse out.

I'm currently doing cassia. So far looks good, it wasn't too bad or messy, but a bit lumpy. I used 2 teaspoons of coconut oil with it and it went in fine.

Rinseout is another story..I'll update in about 15 mins...

I really like applying my henna in the utility sink but now that I've moved I don't have one anymore. I just apply it over the bathtub with gloves. I get a few splats but nothing that doesn't come up and my hands stay clean.

If I don't have any gloves I put my hands in ziploc bags and put a rubberband around my wrist to keep it on! I don't have the use of my fingers this way so it's more of mushing/glob it in instead of being able to mush and dig it in. I get all of my hair covered both ways.

well... rinseout wasn't that bad actually!

I use a rinse after I relax (clear+dark brown) and my hair is very silky and shiny. Its not really as shiny using the cassia It. definitly feels stronger, but its not as soft as with a chemical rinse.

I didn't add yogurt, just a lil oil to the cassia and some water. Let it set up for 15 minutes then kept it on my head for 30 mins. ran it through the food processor before putting it on my head  it was lumpy so that got the lumps out!

Did use a moisterizing condish to rinse out but still:ohwell: it was ok. I can take it or leave it because its the same kind of mess I would have with a regular rinse. At least it didnt smell bad (smelled like wet grass to me)

Another card carrying Henna for Life member checking in. :yep:

Henna gives hair unmistakable bling, color over greys and strength. Plus I love that it's cheap too. :D

Gosh, I was checking out the henna at Lush and it seemed pricey to me. I could swear it was like $60 for a small block. I guess I'd better have a second look!

User for life, for some reason after using it all spring and summer I am just able to REALLY starting to see the red highlighting now, I guess my hair was really stubborn!!

Where do you buy it from?

I buy online from www.fromnaturewithlove.com = 1 pound (453 oz) for $6.95. I end up buying at least 2 pounds a time cuz they have a minimum order policy, either $20 or $25 which is easy to reach cuz they have alot of other good stuff on the site. This is BAQ henna that I've been using for over a year and it is excellent!

My first few hennas I order from www.hennaforhair.com, but I refuse, refuse, to pay those prices when there's perfectly good henna, prolly the same stuff, much cheaper. With FNWL prices, I can afford do full hennas whenever I want and still hold on to some of my cash. . . They provide a 5% discount to LHCF members, check out the discount sticky if you decide to try them:yep:

I stopped doing henna for about 6 months...did a treatment on friday and POW! my hair was thick full and had body and shine again! Plus the indigo afterwards gave me back my jet black hair.

Why I stopped I don't know, but I never will again! Hennan for life!

Henna for life! My 1st trmt was on June 21 and I had unintentional color release but loved the conditioning properties. The results had me asking myself "whos hair is this?"...lol..as the color started to change from poo 2 poo I was liking it also. 2nd henna appl was on 8/3 with my 1st Indigo trmt. Relaxing today after a 12week stretch and can't wait for my next henna :yep:

BUMP!!!! I purchased the Reshma brand...is this BAQ? Please let me know, I wanna try it tonight!

I have used this with good results. I purchased from local indian store -- 200 grams for $2.99. Not sure if it's BAQ, but definately good for my relaxed hair. I got that henna "bling" shine and the awesome strengthening and conditioning . . .

Neroli, My 4 lbs of FNWL henna will arrive tommorrow but i already have 1000g unprepared /powder henna and 2 batches frozen in the freezer. I'm gonna use one this weekend when i take my twists out. I guess you could say that i am all stocked up for the winter.

LOL! Girl you are as bad as I am . . .

Well at least if we hit hard times- we can re-up from each other.

Yep, I'm pretty sure I've got like 10 pounds stashed away! About 4 pounds from FNWL and the rest from local indian stores here in Atlanta or from whenever travel and see it cheap. I'm actually a henna PJ and my FNWL is my standard guide for how much Imma pay for it so either gotta be comparable or cheaper.:yep: It's like buying cheapie condish when no need cuz already got 8 unopened in the cabinet! But hey, gotta buy something for hair every once in a while. At least I can have some fun without going broke. :nono:

Cool, I'm glad that i am not the only one. One of my co-workers gets hers from me as well. I won't sell her my good ish though. The really expensive stuff that i get imported - I am keeping for myself. I will sell her what i got on ebay though.

OMG ya'll!!! I just finished my first henna treatment and I am now officially a redhead!! However, I do already notice that my hair is alot stronger than before:grin:. I mixed 200g of Reshma henna w/ olive oil, honey, pectin, and hot water. I let the mixture sit for 24hrs (a little more than that). As I was applying it, I noticed that it dries quickly, so I added more warm water to the mix. Once I was finished, I placed a plastic cap on and sat under the dryer for 30 min then I let it cool for an hour. To rinse, I just took my detachable shower head sat down in the tub and rinsed w/ V05 Moisture Milks until it was clear. I shampooed w/ CON (green bottle) did 1 more con wash and then a oil rinse. I added a deep conditioner and now I'm sitting under the dryer. I took a peak of the front and it's so red! My hair looks lighter than it did before! :wallbash: I was trying to darken it a little:nono:! It's not so bad though, it looks like a dark ginger red in the front, hopefully it looks ok when it's dry...

Wow, your mix and method sounds great. Give it a day or so for the color to oxidize and it should darken up a bit. Welcome new henna head!

Congradulations, Welcome to the henna side of life. Glad that you had a great experience.

I love henna but I dont like the red-copper color from it. Does anyone else use color rinses after henna? Is it safe?

I have been using henna for about 8 months. I use it every other week. The other week I do a light protein treatment with Motions CPR. I have hair split (splits on my hair strand) due to heat damage. And I was cutting some of them last night. I was even trying to pull them, thinking that they would just snap off...well that did not work. I had to cut them off. Those strands were still strong. I thought how can that be..is it my vitamins..nahhh...I take those on and off, protein treatment....maybe...the oil rinses, maybe, but that would just protect the hair from dryness...henna, which is another form of protein for the hair...I concluded it must be the henna mainly....

What do you all think? How can my hair strand that has split hairs, not just snap off when I pull on it? Is it the henna? If this is the case that the henna is strengthening my hair like this, I will never not use my henna!!!!

PS: The henna I use has amla and shikakai in it. And I mix it with indigo at times....
