Ok, it's time for a new poll. I know how we love our bandwagons. Is henna just another one of many or is there something to this one? Where do you stand today? Is henna a fad for you personally?

I say forever:yay: :yay: Go henna go!!!

I think that the people who have used it with success have seen lasting changes in their hair that go way beyond a typical deep conditioning session. Besides that fact, the fact that it is cheap doesn't hurt either. Henna for life:cool:

Hi Sareca!

I love the way henna/indigo (and soon Cassia/Amla) make my hair look and feel and can honestly say I intend to be a "Henna Head" forever!

Shoot, I should be for quite a while 'cause I have enough henna and indigo under my sink in the bathroom to open my own henna shop! :lachen:

Henna is in da house to stay! I'm even having a henna party with a girlfriend, she's hooked too!!

Henna Fo' Lyfe!

I was thinking the same thing. If I stopped using henna what the heck would I do w/ the 6 month supply in my house right now.

Ooooh, pick me!! Pick me!!!! :user:

Sadly, i voted for the second option.:ohwell:

As much as i loooove the effects of Henna on my hair........ i cant imagine doing it forever. Its WAY too messy and time-consuming. I can do it now because the apartment i live in is kinda crappy and so forth. So when random little pieces of Henna splatter around the bathroom, and dry on the walls/floors/you name it..... i try to get it up as best as i can, but i dont always, and i may find a dried, gross looking chunk of Henna days later.

For now, thats fine, because this place is not my Dream Home or anything. But when i eventually do move to a nice place that i take PRIDE in, i dont see myself doing something that is so messy difficult to clean up. Even when i spread towels around and so forth, i still never know where my Henna mixture is going to end up..... it just flies off my hands and stuff. *smh*

I know that reason is silly....... but it is what it is. Maybe once per MONTH at best, but not as frequently as i do it now (weekly).

Aww, I'm sorry to hear that KiniKakes. It does get easier/faster/less messy with practice, but I know exactly what you mean about finding henna chunks in weird places days later. :lachen:

Devoted member here.

Henna has been around before LHCF was even thought of. It really is not a fad.

Personally, the benefits it has for my hair are priceless and I have never used a commercial product , not even the best protein treatments, that give me the thickness that I get from my herbal treatments.

Hi Kinikakes! I have a "dream" home and I use the gel mix when I henna and when I indigo I use CMC with it. I have NO mess!

Another card carrying Henna for Life member checking in. :yep:

Henna gives hair unmistakable bling, color over greys and strength. Plus I love that it's cheap too. :D

Yeah, girl.... i mean, i feel like such a "fairweather" Henna fan even for saying that! LOL!!! But i cant stand finding Henna days later in random places in my bathroom. *smh* It would be embarassing if i had guests in my home often, but fortunately i dont! I mean, how do you explain that.....? It just looks bad.

I use CMC too. :yep:

Me and my husband were picking out tiles for our dream home floor and I picked a dark indian slate. You know you love henna when it influences your flooring choices. This isn't a first for me tho. The carpet is also the same color as my german shephard. I can't hope to keep the house completely free of dog hair, but I can hide them. :look:

Well, I don't have a "dream" house, but I do take much pride in my little townhouse. :) I just haev to be VERY careful. Most times I don't get to messy when I use it with yogurt. It just doesn't drip and rinses out well without any gritty debri.

Also when I shampoo it out, I have to use a detangling comb though it lightly under water to make she there it is all out.

You can't explain that. :nono: I looks like poo and I'm not talking about shampoo. :barf: I left some stuck to the mirror and my husband pitched a fit. :lachen: He's was like "What the *&@L is that?!" :lachen: I busted up. I said, "it's just henna" but he still refused to touch it and looked really grossed out when I scraped it off.

I completely understand.

I'm on the fence about this one...I definitely plan to use it 'sorta' forever... like when my hair is in bad shape i'll whip it out. I dont have any messiness concerns, i have dryness concerns. My hair feels strong yet dry....so i just wear lots of oil in my hair and put in a ponytail, for the week after henna.

Kinicakes and others...Henna doesn't have to be that messy. I mean u put conditioner in your hair and it doesnt splatter everywhere, right? Just mix it to the consistency of a conditioner (add conditioner to the mix) and just sorta take your hand and smoothe over your 4 sections of hair. no combing, so it dont even splatter anywhere. I can apply henna in like 3mins flat.... :look: HTH.

Henna has been used for hair conditioning and coloring for thousands of years so I don't see it as a fad. I see it as a part of my hair care, a very healthy part. :)

I'll do henna for life. I love it and all the benefits of it. It's not a messy or time consuming process for me. I look foward to doing this once a month.

While I enjoyed the MTG while it lasted, the oily hair/scalp and stench was just a bit much though I quickly jumped when I saw the first post (one of those risk takers).

With a lot of other things, I do a LOT of research before deciding to commit to trying it out. Henna was such a thing and the benefits FAR outweigh the 'mess' or time commitment.

I plan my schedule around my henna treatments, just like my workouts. To henna or not?! That's even a question!

ETA: It's no more time consuming than cleaning house, doing a deep conditioning treatment, taking nap, typing at the computer, or watching the tube! When I know I'm going to have at least one uninterrupted hour at home (no outside obligations), I choose to do my treatments then. I try to aim for 2-3 hours but 1 is sufficient.

fad : a practice or interest followed for a time with exaggerated zeal

It doesn't matter how long it existed before you started using it. If you used it with exaggerated zeal then stopped it was a fad for you. MTG was a fad for me (even though I believe it works). My newest experiment is Lenzi's Request. :) Henna is not a fad for me. It is only outlived by MSM. :)

With the improvement my hair has seen, I will keep using henna and indigo. I love the thickness, the shine, the gorgeous color. I'm not giving that up.

*throws henna gang sign*

Henna for life, yo! :lachen:

I picked the on the fence option (even thought I don't want anyone's hair to fall out).

Maybe I'm a bandwagon breaker or something, but a lot of times when I jump on something from the board that's new to me, as soon as I get on everyone else get's off, or I get a setback from it. I know everyone's hair is different, but I think henna would harm my hair more than it would help it.

Also, most of the ladies on the board who are having the most success with henna are relaxed, and of the few people with transitioning or natural hair, they had more problems with henna at some point.

I think I really like the effects of cassia on my hair----and I plan to try Jamila henna in the summer

But I won't know 100% until I am wearing it out regularly---since it is winter--I've had my hair hidden.

Im a Henna G. fo lyfe !!!!!!!!!!!!! Westside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (actually Im from the south, but that sounded better )

P.S. Do yall still do hardcore Aphoghee treatments evern though you are using henna?
