Ah it's fine now. I usually deep condition when I color it but I decided not to this most recent time just to see what would happen lol. It's been months since I've colored it so sometimes I like to try things a bit differently to see if it's still the best route.

Oil rinses were unfortunately a no-go.

My hair when it's natural or bleached is great it's just figuring it out when it's colored but I'm getting closer. :heart3: at least I haven't had to cut it all off this time, lol.

Matter of fact I will do the same today, I'm tired of this wild head of mine, lolz. Wash day is Sunday and even though I DC and its great n fluffy its a bit dry. I've grown to enjoy just simply throwing it back and calling it a day.

DE43BFDD-E4AF-4E1F-9E81-29C86FE3B58F.jpeg I just shampooed with Chi black seed and I’m under the dryer with Kérastase Chronologiste mask. I did an overnight aloe Vera and coconut oil treatment. Depending on how my hair behaves during this blow dry, I might wear my own hair this week. My lil wig is cute though. I cut and curled it. It’s human, but I got it for $20 instead of the regular price $60. It was like a mullet when I bought it lol

Hey ladies! So straightened (wasn’t trying to get bone straight) so that I could trim. And with the trim here is is my current length. The start of this year a most strands of my hair hair hit at the white spot on my back but a few stretched past it. 2 trims later the majority of my hair is past it.

For any one wondering why I’m trimming every 5-6 weeks: I had some damage from 2017 I did mini twists on wet hair then pulled them into a bun. I think it was too much stress on my hair because I ended up with a ton of mid strand splits. 2018 I cut off about 7 inches and going into 2019 I had about an inch and a half left of the damage to cut off. With those two trims I have maybe half an inch more to cut off. I think I’m going to wait until May and let a professional clean up the rest of the damage and shape my hair.

It's nice and thick. I'm glad you didn't straighten it bone straight. It looks so soft and fluffy :yep:

Funny you mention the mini twists on wet hair because I romance the idea again n again of box braids. Nothing keeps the moisture in like braids but we have to be vigilante protecting our strands from stress too.

I'd like to visit a braider this summer but I think a larger braid style just to keep it neat?? Idk my neighbor had crazy hair like me. Her friend braids n next day, its ova.

I hope we can figure something out. Nonetheless, your hair looks fabulous!

I’m with you! I keep trying to find a way to do mini twists and no matter how I do them (damp, dry, stretched) I end up mad at myself for it.
I’ve been doing chunky individual braids in a bun (inspired by a video hairbypierre did). It lasts me the work week and because they are so large I haven’t seen any breakage so I’m sticking with them or just two large cornrows pinned up.
Hopefully you figure out a style that works for you soon. I’m so over the trial and error.
 
I moisturized with Garnier sleek and shine cream and sealed with coconut oil. I wore a baggy for an hour. My ends were still dryish, so I cut a piece of aloe Vera and drenched my ends in the juice, added more garnier cream and coconut oil. Now I’m wearing my slap cap. I think my ends are happy now. My version of liquid, cream, oil
 
Last night I shampooed with olaplex no 4. Recently ran out of Mielle deep conditioner so I grabbed something at the grocery store. The Garnier 1 minute hair mask I got was pretty terrible but I had also grabbed a ogx coconut hair mask which I liked. I also did a 1/4" trim last night as well. This morning I rinsed and used kckt, curls curl cream and ecostyler then put my hair into a bun.

I do still have some knots left but overall my hair did feel better when I was washing it today. Still deciding if I will get my hair straightened and a more thorough trim this summer or wait until the end of the year.
 
Finally washed my hair after weeks of 'neglect'. Yesterday I massaged my scalp with Natures Ego Fenugreek serum to invigorate my scalp.

After a few hrs, I water rinsed and then used a blend of clay (added brahmi for my scalp only) and left this mix on for about an hour. I rinsed well and followed with fermented rice water. I let this stay on my hair for about 10 mins before rinsing.

I followed by separating my hair in to quadrants and generously smoothing my Shea mix in. I'm out of KCCC, so I used a diluted mix of Camille Rose Curl maker and Eco styler flaxseed before styling. My hair feels crispy but looks ok lol.

Current length: apl. I was close to bsl, maybe an inch away, but cut some hair recently.

Regimen: I've been getting to know my hair and experimenting a bit, the past few weeks. I have a protective style in atm, but before this, I was washing/deep conditioning weekly with heat, then plaiting my hair. Doing this gave me more opportunities to see what works for me. So I'm ready to get back to it. We'll see what happens.

I think I need 15.5 inches to be mbl (if I was measuring to the correct area). I had 12 inches before I cut it, and I'd say its 11 now. Not sure.

Welcome. I love your twists, they're so thick and pretty!
 
Recently I've been having a lot of thoughts about cutting my hair so I figured now was a good time to do a more intensive protective style.


Over the last few days I put in mini twists starting at the front then going back. I find the twists look best done on dry hair so I used jakaela's amla shea hair butter parfait to detangle before I did each twist. This morning I did my usual routine:
- LUSH Jason and the Argan Oil Shampoo Bar
- KCKT
- Ecostyler

I will most likely keep them in for at least a month but no more than three months. That's usually long enough for me to start missing my hair again.


Random observations:
- My theory about the lush shampoo bars seem to be holding true. The sulfates help to prevent the build up that I usually get with shampoo bars over time while still giving the benefits of using a shampoo bar…

- The longest parts of my hair appear to be apl now, the other parts are still inches away. From my starting pic it looks like bsl is only maybe an inch or so from apl on me so the longest strands should definitely reach it by the end of the year, still not sure about the shorter sections.

- My ends really needed that trim. They definitely feel better now.

- In the past I used to wash my hair only once a week detangling wasn't so bad as long as I had my hair in a protective style but otherwise I could easily add an hour in. Finger detangling took several hours so I usually didn't bother with that. Since I've been washing my hair more often and finger detangling each time I've noticed that my hair isn't getting as tangled anymore and finger detangling is enough but also doesn't take very long. This still makes me a bit nervous because of the extra manipulation though.

When I looked at your pictures, the first thing that came to mind was the melody of the song "Breakin' my Heart" by Mint Condition, lol. Anyhoo your twists look nice, especially in the second picture.
