I tried it once mixed with olive oil due to the advice of a friend...my hair felt HARD (which at the time I did not know that was good thing)...needless to say I haven't tried that method since...

I use the egg whites mixed with molasses, almond oil, mayo, Peppermint EO and suave conditioner. I let sit in hair for 15-30 minutes. I then wash with shampoo and add a conditioner. My hair always feel soft and stronger.

I wonder if you would get the same benefits from using powdered eggs? Anyone ever used the powdered whole eggs?

I would crack them open, mix them and then apply to my hair. Put on a plastic cap, let it sit, and then rinse it out and shampoo and condition as normal.

Sorry! I thought you used the whole egg POWDER!:look:

I did this for the first time ever a couple of days ago. Nothing fancy, just one whole egg, some olive oil and a bit of suave milk and honey to thicken it up. I slapped it on, put a plastic grocery bag on my head (yes, i did say grocery store bag) and let it sit for about 30-40 minutes. After washing it out and pooing my hair felt hard. I got skurd. I conditioned with the milk and honey (too lazy to deep condish) then blowdried. My hair was in excellent condition and I lost a minimal amount of hair. My hair still feels great and I did this on Monday. Will see how my hair holds up through the end of the week :)

I use eggs once a month as natural protein treatment, been doing so for the last 3 or so months, so far so good. I mix one or two eggs with a moisturizing conditioner and a bit of coconut oil, I apply it when my hair is dry, I then cover my hair w/a plastic cap and let it sit in for 2 hours. It's a great alternative to hardcore protein treatments, I never tried those and I never will either.

P.S. When you rinse out the egg mixture, rinse it out with cold water instead of warm/hot...Just so you wont have scrambled eggs in your hair!

Bre Bre... I use grocery store bags too! =D

I do the egg conditioning treatment...have been doing it every month for about 3 or 4 months now. I miss egg white with some olive oil an protien powder, wrap it up and hang out for about half an hour. Afterwards, I rinse with COLD water...I dont want to cook the egg in my hair, then I shampoo and condition.

So far so good...and I havnt had any problems with an egg smell afterwards.

I voted I don't use eggs.. but that's not to say that I won't ever try!

I am actually going to try eggs to strengthen and condition my hair one day:)

I am now a faithful egg user! I was afraid to use Aphogee for the longest because everyone said it was hard core protein so I figured I could use an egg. It was my first time last night (I wish I would have found this thread!) and I used it as a pre-poo with ORS Hair Mayo. My hair felt super strong when I washed it out! Then I used ORS pak to deep condition which brought back the moisture. This morning, my hair is sleek, shiny and moisturized at almost 8 weeks post! This is now a staple for me.

i have pre pooed with it egg mayo and molassas

i also sometimes just use mayo if i am low on eggs. :perplexed
Eggs work very well for me i dont think my hair needs anything too strong.

I cannot use eggs in my hair. I have tried so many times, so many ways and the end result is the always same......dry hard hair:(

I mix 1 egg in my ORS mayo...

The first time I didnt care for the way my hair felt but I added EVOO and it was much better.

Have you considered using regular mayo? It contains oil and eggs. Both of which are great for your hair. I also put a little honey in it too. Plus you won't have a problem with the white parts of the egg being in your hair.

Try it. Ya might like it!

1 of my relatives used to work for a food service company & she was stationed to a nursing home where they had the really oily heavy mayonnaise. She brought an industrial size jar home once years ago & my hair loved it.

I love mixing organic egg white power in conditioners. It makes application really easy! :) I've definitely seen and felt benefts to my hair.

Over the course of two years, I have used eggs, real mayo, etc... When I first started my hair journey, I followed a lot of the recipes on www.motowngirlcom.com -- She has a ton of different concoctions.

I have since scaled back on a lot of the egg mixtures because of the white residue and sometimes it did feel stripped. After reading this thread, now I know it was the egg whites causing stripping. Nowadays, I only use eggs when my hair feels mushy from too much moisture conditioning. I break an egg into some hair mayo, some oil, and condish. But I'll only use the yolk in my mixture from this point on.

Legend, I am curious about the organic egg powder you mentioned. How much do you add? Where do you purchase it?

i'm going to try an egg concotion tomorrow
my hair is breaking suddenly from medication and it's depressing me :nono:
i'm broke/unemployed so i can't afford to go to a hairdresser blahhhh

Congrats to you ladies who have had success with eggs. I tried to use eggs as a conditioner once, and it took several washes for it to come out of my hair.

I think I will try egg yolks w/ evoo as a conditioner. This website says to make sure you're rinsing w/ cooler water, otherwise you may cook the egg & have it cling to your hair. I eat lots of egg white omelettes & was wondering if I could make use of the yolks instead of discarding them.

I'm thrifty yall.

I'm in this camp witcha!!

Next poo I'm doing the egg yolk wisking the OO in with it as a pre-poo then follow up with a poo (con or regurlar) and then a moisture DC. That will do the trick, I did that back in college to correct some serious damage done by wearing braids... Why did I forget that....well it was many many brain cells ago...:lachen:

I am SO glad you ladies are here to put me back on track, and to add to the benefits..

I am going to get back on the egg white omellets, so that will give me a two fold benefit, protein inside and out. As previously stated the yolk has a much smaller amount of protein than the whites built in cholesterol which we know is great for the hair. I'm going to Sam's Club today and get me a big ole jug of OO!! And some eggs chile!!

ETA - I will mix mayo in there too on occasion... with the yolk and OO - only once per week for the DC

I always use the whole egg cuz already nice protein/moisture balance. I crack a whole egg in nexxus keraphix for super extra protein treat the wash before touchup and the first wash after touchup. Also, crack one in any condish whenever hair needs extra strength, no particular schedule, just when seems extra protein is needed. Altho now that I henna, don't seem to need as much between touchups . . .

I use an egg to top up light protein treatments like CPR. Works quite well I'd say. My hair definitely feels stronger after this.

I've done it about twice. I just cracked two eggs, whipped them and then threw in some Olive oil and some creamy conditioner. Mixed that all together and then applied it all to my hair and let it sit for an hour while I surfed or read a book. Now the strage thing was that after washing it out and conditioning like I would doing a regular wash, I experienced almost no breakage or anything and my hair felt stronger. However...a day or two later when I attempt to style or straighten with a flat iron and comb through my hair I experience normal breakage.:perplexed
I'll try it again soon however.

I do it weekly/bi weekly

My hair seems to be stronger when I use it..

I mix it with Regular Mayo

My hair is way shiny too :)

When I have used it in the past it made my hair hard like a rug and I would have to use a good moisturizing conditioner on it afterwards, but I use other methods of protein now.
