Are you going to post a link to the vid? I would like to see it.

And to answer the question: No, I don't agree with what that guy said. Mixed people have have a variety hair types. Some even have type 4 hair. So, edges laying down is not an indication of someone being bi-racial.

I was watching a youtube video of a bunch of young women with beautiful hairstyles. On the title I believe it said mixed girls photos. As I went through the comments, a guy commented and said, " Alot of these girls aren't even mixed, you can tell because all mixed girls edges lay flat, and some of them edges are black edges". Now, I'm not the one to be unfair and make comments on things, but it made me wonder.. So, I wanted to see y'all's response and do you agree, or disagree with the statement?

What is your opinion on the topic?

A lot of flat edges are the result of hair product and a scarf, but we should allow him to live with his illusions.

It wasn't a video, it was a comment under the video. No, I can't post it as I do not know where to find it now. I was searching how to lay edges flat and I happen to watch it and see the comments. I realize its not an indication of bi-racial, I had my own opinion. But since it was a hair comment I wanted to see how many people thought that way, non-offense !

I'd disagree on the basis that mixed people can come in a variety of skin colors so why not hair types? His comment doesn't even make sense. I don't know any mixed girls personally besides myself though. Taren916's roots are very fuzzy, afro-textured?

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bEZrG8juEdQ&feature=plpp. She is African American and has very laid edges, so it goes both ways I agree :-)

Is laid edges supposed to be a measure of something? Why would anyone care if someone else's edges are laid or if it has anything to do with racial heritage or care enough to solicit others opinions? I read the OP and the responses and I am sitting here thinking - laid edges is a thing now? is that comment supposed to be an insult? something as idiotic as laid edges??? has the world run out of gel/holding products?

Sigh. I guess I understand why the OP would post it, but in the future I will ignore nonsense like this. If you feel the need to type "no offense", you knew it would be offensive.

What the? So edges have a race now? This is in the running for dumbest notion ever... :lachen:

That is a really foolish observation. Not to mention inaccurate. I wonder how much of his spare time he spends making such observations.

In regards to edges laying down, it has very little to do with your race. It has to do more with your hair type, hair texture, products used, etc.

People say dumb ish on youtube all the time. Whoever he was he was just displaying his ignorance however he could. How someones edges lay has little to do with ethnicity... & more to do with technique.

Sorry,OP, what a waste to dedicate an entire thread about such a random ignorant comment.

No offense.

Well, this is a hair care forum where people bring funnies inaccurate things and bs that people should laugh at all the time, just because I typed it has nothing to do with me believing it. I thought it was actually funny which was my response when seeing it. My reasons for saying no offense was because I knew some people would be offended, where as mature minded people would state the obvious and not make a huge fuss. Even if I did believe it ( which I dont) I'd be entitled to my opinion which gives no one reason to assume or judge me ..

I agreed with majority of the statement until you took offense, any who have a great day

I agree, I should have known less-mature minded people would judge me rather than lol or haha at it and be secure with their truth and what they believe well sigh.... This isa forum where anything goes . Be blessed

I mean come one people whether you agree or disagree is up you. But being judgmental toward me is ridiculous. This is a hair care forum. I paid to post so Im going to post. Ill never be disrespectful nor judgmental, but if your the type to judge, miss me with all that, A'int nobody got time for all that LOL.. Because ill still be around and you'll still be angry for no reason. It's all love from this way respect me ill respect you. If the Internet is a bit much for you, take a break. But I will remain speaking my mind, asking questions, and posting random thoughts and random things I see, like it or not.

Thanks to everyone who laughed commented and didn't judge.. Great character is always a plus.

The consensus here is no surprise  As black women, we already know he's wrong & very ignorant. There's really nothing to discuss or debate.

Welcome to the board Op!

Thanks for the welcome, it offended so obviously lots of people or either or unsure or they lack the confidence in what they know lol :-) waves back

Take a deep breath because you are beginning to sound paranoid and nuts. All this talk about 'respect me, I 'll respect you' is bordering on some ghetto craziness. I don't follow names or avis that seriously. I can disagree with someone in one thread and agree with them in another thread. You are the only person that seems to be taking this seriously. You have a right to post and others have a right to disagree with your post and what you choose to post. I had even forgotten about the thread or comment, but saw it pop up on the first page and was curious to see what had been written.

Step back, take a deep breath, and relax. Getting antagonistic and aggressive is an awful way to join a new community.
