I'm glad this is a year long challenge because I think I need every month I can get. So far I don't seem to be making any progress. I am hoping the spring brings more motivation :yep:

I'm doing well on hair and brains, slacking on body, as expected  I've just been having some late nights due to work, and just don't have the motivation to exercise sometimes. I've contemplated getting up early to work out, but I am SO not a morning person. We'll see...

I did not do well in this challenge for the 1st quarter. I am hoping the 2nd quarter is better.

My weight is still up, my hair length is still the same and I'm still working the same job  :ohwell:

So this week I have restarted my exercise and am watching what I eat.

I have looked at my hair regimen and come up with some new ideas. I will continue to cowash and dc weekly. I am adding comb detangling with my wide tooth comb, then medium tooth comb down to a fine tooth comb to see if I can smooth out my ends and retaing more. If I can smooth out my ends, perhaps I can cowash more and keep up my moisture.

And I am taking a class on learning to follow my bliss which is both fun and helpful.

I think it is a positive way to start off this quarter.

Well hell completed llcing my business last week, and now less than an inch to make it to apl, and just finish working out so im making progress

i wanna join!
i voted all three, cuz I could always use some improvment!

BSL: My ultimate goal is WSL, but I hope to be bra strap by the end of 2012. I cowash daily, DC twice a week, Protein once a week, and keep my hair in protective styles, no heat. Plus I use sulfur/mn growth aid nightly. drink tons of water, and take my supplements daily.

Brains: I realllllly wanna learn another language, preferably spanish. Ive always wanted to one day move to another country, like Costa Rica or Spain; so beautiful. Im going to CR in summer 2013 after a graduate college, and hopefully every summer after until I do the big move. I plan to take spanish classes and lessons, watch spanish tv 24/7, and save $50 out of every check so i can have enough to visit next summer.

Body: Im already pretty foine (lol) but im "out of shape", meaning i cant walk up a flight of stairs without getting winded. I work out 2-3 times a week. I had a baby 4 months ago and my stomach is pretty much gone, but I still wanna tone up a bit.

Hair - I will post a photo at the end of this month when I straighten my hair. I *think* I am CBL stretched. I am just going to KISS and wash my hair less. So shampoo days are now once every 2 weeks. I will DC and do a light protein treatment, and moisturize almost daily.

Brains - I am applying to grad school right now... Hopefully I get in!! *fingers crossed* But I'd like to be more aware of worldly events so I'm going to try to listen to NPR and watch the news more often. I want to read more often but I am kinda picky about books Solitude can you recommend me any books? I love non-fiction as well... especially memoirs. My favorite memoirs are A Piece of Cake, Wasted and Madness.

Body - Right now I'm focusing on my body internally versus how I look because I look fine. So I want to eat less fast food, more veggies and fruits. I also want to do yoga regularly and stretch more often. Oh and using the stairs and walking/biking to work. I am learning how to live with anxiety and those are things I definitely need to do to keep it at bay.

I'm happy to report that I've been doing pretty well at working out in the morning. It's actually a bit easier to keep up with because I'm more motivated in the morning than when I'm tired after work. Once I got into the habit of getting up earlier and immediately putting on my workout clothes (I keep them out and ready at foot of the bed), it wasn't so bad. I also feel more energized and awake when I get to work.

While the weather is still nice for walking, and not too hot, I've been going for little walks during my lunch breaks (I used to do this all the time but I always stop during the really cold winter months).

I got to use my little bit of French in Paris but still have so much to learn. Continuing on in my French and Korean textbooks. Still trying to finish them by the end of the year.

My drawing class finished. I'm skipping the next session so I can just spend my free time doing my activities at home. I might start again with the summer session -- either that or I'll do a language class for one of my languages instead (alternatively I've considered spending the money on a Rosetta Stone course for Korean). We'll see...

Keeping up with my vitamins and moisturizing my hair.

Thanks My Friend~

Tell us what your working with :yep: and your regi to make it happen.

Hair - I'm currently BSB and I believe I'm transitioning without the BC. I'm hoping to make BSL by August 2012 and MBL by February 2013. Then maintain until fully natural BSL by the end of 2014. My regi as always is to KISS. I usually wash every 3-4 weeks, but I don't plan on using heat regularly, so I'll be washing once per week and regularly conditioning my NG.

Brains - I received my Master's in Instructional Technology a few years ago, but I fell into teaching middle school and I feel like I'm stuck here. I haven't been keeping up with the latest trends in Instructional Technology and I've almost lost my knowledge of instructional design completely. I want to buff up my knowledge in my field and find a job in that field by the end of 2013.

Body - I've gained 45 pounds since I've been pregnant and I've NEVER been an exerciser. I also eat crap every day for EVERY meal and snack. I want to change my lifestyle and start using the 5 workout DVD collections I have and eat at least two healthy meals/snacks per day to start.

Ready? Set! Triple Threat!!!

I think I'm finally ready to turn things around.

I had a setback with my hair and lost at least an inch to breakage. I'm still SL but hopefully I will be close to APL by June or July. Added an AVJ/glycerin mix to my regi and my hair seems to appreciate the moisture. Its still too early to tell but I am hopeful.

I have been off my diet/exercise plan for 2 months but fortunately I haven't gained an enormous amount of weight. I walked my first 10K, 2 weeks ago so I am in decent shape. I started my walking program yesterday. I'm intend to walk 2 miles a day.

And I am in my 3rd week of Learn to Follow Your Bliss class. It's a very interesting class and there is a lot of class work and homework involved. I think each of the pieces is helping me get clearer about what I want to do. There are 5 more classes. So hopefully I will have some answers in the end.

NJoy

Where you at? How was the first quarter for you? Any updates/progress pr change in strategy? I know that vision board is on FIYAH!!!!!

So I've been lazy with my hair the past few months... Now I am excited to style my hair again! I did a cute braid out (photo attached)

I'm planning on flat ironing on the 27th or 28th and trimming my ends. I'm debating if I should get a creaclip or go to "Famous Hair" or Hair cuttery to get a trim. I'm terrified of stylists after my bad experience... I haven't been to one in almost a year.

Anyways... I'm hoping to be at CBL when I flat iron. I will post photos then.

@Bluetopia

Where you at? Wanna share any updates/progress?

Thanks for the reminder!

Hair - I've been rocking braids since January and will be taking them out in 2 weeks for a birthday length check. So I'm on track on that front

Mind - met a lot of likeminded folks who are in the industry I'm trying to get into and have also taken classes. I even had my first paying gig this week! Business wise I've accomplished much more than I expected in such a short time frame.

Body - officially signed up to run a marathon for charity this Fall. Training starts in May. I've slacked off a bit on my diet but am getting back on track asap since my bday is around the corner.

All in all - I'd give myself a 7.5 thus far. Solid and with room for improvement. Time to take this to the next level!

Can I still join this challenge?

Body--I'm actually ok in this category:look: BMI=19-20

Brains--I completed my Masters in International Studies but I'm also in law school. I've set my sights on an internship in International Arbitration and a study abroad opportunity to study International Arbitration, both in Europe for next year. But I want to raise my GPA so I'm working extra hard between now and then.:yep:

BSL--My goal is to be MBL by the end of the year. Right now I'm about an inch away from BSL in the back and 2 inches away in the front. My growth wasn't as fast during the winter, but I normally get growth spurts in the summer so hopefully I'll make BSL soon!

Good question! I'm finally doing some much needed spring shopping today after work and I'm going to do a braidout over the weekend, and I'm thinking about starting insanity this weekend as well so... I'll finally start on monday

ETA: Oh, and as for the brains part.. I think I'm on track lol. I stratigized my way into a promotion in february. I'll also be taking a few continuing ed courses this summer.

So... Yesterday I bought some make up to cheer me up. I'm not a big make up person but it always cheers me up when I make myself up.

I bought a lip stain

And eyeliner

I've decided that I am going to TRY to wear at least 2 forms of make up: Eyeliner + Mascara or Mascara + Lip stain.... or all 3! I'm not a big make up person, but now that I've been single for 3 or so weeks... I'm all about looking hot

Also, I forced my butt to go to Yoga class. I've been putting it off for weeeeeeeeeeeeks. I felt really strong though, I can't wait to go back. I'm glad I made myself go.

ETA: Sorry the photo is so big. I'm trying to find smaller ones... or I'll just delete both the pictures.

I'm happy to report that I've lost 1 inch off my waist and 1.5 inches off my hips since the beginning of the year! :weird: My pants are feeling looser! :weird:

For your brain:
Here is an AWESOME resource for those wanting to review some stuff from school or learn something new: http://www.khanacademy.org/ They have video courses for free on all kinds of stuff. They also have a Roku app, if you're into that

And here is a cool site with games to exercise your mind: http://alpha.brainturk.com/

No results to speak of.

I am developing consistency with my exercise routine. I am getting close to my goal of walking 3 miles at least 5 times a week.

My hair, well, she's not loving me so much and I'm not loving her so much at the moment. But we are still trying to work it out. I'm doing everything I know, I just hope she starts to respond.

I am at the end of my Learn to Follow Your Bliss class. It was definitely a success. I am clearer about what I want do do. The last class is next Monday. Then after that I will start taking more definitive steps towards my new vision.

So some progress made with body and hair but no goals reached. And I will have reached a milestone with area 3 (mind/career/vision, etc).

Brains: I GOT ACCEPTED INTO GRAD SCHOOL! Yay!

Body: I'm still slacking... but I speed walked around my development and did lunges yesterday morning. I'm sore. lol :look: I've been keeping up with wearing make up. I always feel pretty and I think it's made a difference with my confidence. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but I've been getting more attention from guys... and it's actually the ones that I'm attracted to.

Hair: Today, I'm straightening my hair for the first time as a natural. I think I'm going to make a thread with photos since my 1 year is on the 19th. We shall see!

Hair: I straightened my hair last week. It wasn't the results I wanted, but it wasn't a disaster either. it was my first time flat ironing my natural hair. It has been almost 1 year since my last chemical hair treatment.

Body: I'm still slacking on working out... I'm always tired from work. However I did do lunges and squats after speed walking outside. My legs for sore for almost the entire week!

All these lose weight goals make me feel like what I'm gonna say is a slap in the face.

I want/need to gain my weight back.

Long story short: traumatic experience, scared of the outside world, Doc thought anti-anxiety meds would help, one pill=3 days of feeling icky and not eating, weight drop w/ high metabolism 102 to 94

My metabolism makes my goal extremely hard. I eat non stop for 5 months and only gain 2 lbs. Even my quick fix (ensure plus) that helped me gain weight in 9th grade is no help.

Me and my mom are planning on going to the community college in the fall.

Just starting my hair journey with 3 major set backs already. 1. Protein obsession-haven't seen any negative effects just yet 2. Accidental beach water drench 3. QT in a very hot unairconditioned room.

But ima come back!!!

It saddens me how quiet this thread is... :(

Is anyone else still participating? I'm still going strong with keeping up my appearance. I've never been consistent with wearing make up before (mostly just mascara and eyeliner). I'm proud of myself! I'm still inconsistent about working out. I just did a lil somethin-somethin today though.
