Brains- I will bring my GPA up, and finish my seperate penn foster certificate by july, read one book a week

indarican

Thank you for joining.

You go girlie. Are you in the 52 books in 52 weeks challenge too?

ok um i already consider myself a triple threat but i want to join the challenge so i can stay a triple threat, especially body wise because in 2010 i fell off and gained 15 pounds and its just now that my body is right again. also even though my hair is longer than BSL 2011 has been a horrible year in terms of the health of my hair so tommorow i plan on cutting 2-3 inches and starting fresh.

body: tommorow i will be re-starting turbo fire 6x per week and i will be eating healthy.fridays and saturdays will be my off days in terms of food.

brains:i want to make all A's this semester.i applied to emory, university of miami, georgia state, mercer, university of florida, and FIU(backup plan lol) for nursing school so im waiting to see which ones i'll get accepted into.after nursing school im getting my masters and specializing in public health so i can work internationally so this year i plan on upping my language skills.i will be learning french&spanish. i also want to up my cooking skills especially haitian food,so every friday i'll cook

hair: like i said im cutting my hair tommorow im not exactly sure what length yet.im keeping my reggi mad simple this year.
2-3x a month i will rollerset my hair.other than that i'll do braidouts.im cutting out direct heat other than hooded dryers for 6 months.
products i'll be using:
co-wash - herbal essence LTR
shampoo-hair one,silicon mix
leave in- silicon mix leave in conditioner(this stuff is AWESOME)
DC-silicon mix proteina de pearla (this is awesome too lol),matrix biolage conditioning balm
Protein-mizani kerafuse
oils- coconut,jojoba,argan
other: Black tea rinses

ooph tht was long.lol

@nigue92

Thank you for joining.

You are going to go far Ms. Lady :yep: I can tell you are very determined. Things just don't happen to you, you make sure they happen.

OP this is an awesome idea! Count me in.

Hair: Im currently a little below BSL, but it's very uneven so I really need to cut it. That will take it a little above BSL I think. I will be deep conditioning and rollersetting weekly or bi-weekly. No direct heat, except for my roots.

Body: According to the chart I'm very overweight, so this is what I will focus on the most. I've already started to cut much of the sugar and starch from my diet, I will be walking and doing some form of physical activity atleast 5 times a week.

Brains: Ok I got this on lock, just started back with school and so far I'm doing great. Prayerfully I will be a pharmacist in the next 5 years.

silkii_locks

Thank you for joining.

I too have set a goal of walking 30 minutes a day no matter what. Kudos to you for going back to school.

Put me down! I can't click the thanks button from my phone though...

Body- within BMI but on the higher end but not too worried about that because my body fat % is still good. Maybe 5 lbs wouldn't hurt. ;) I do want to get back on my workout game though to tone more & get at least a 4-pack in my abs (yes, I said 4- I ain't too worried about all 6! Lol!) by May. Plan to start eating right w/ more veggies & fruits & consistent with my green smoothies and vitamins. Goal: half marathon in April

Brains- I'm good with the degrees for now, but want to be more fluent in Spanish, so I will take some course or program to help out with that this year. I took too many years of Spanish so many years ago not to know how to hold a simple conversation! Oh, and I'm already a bookworm, but I'll be sure to keep up with my reading.

Hair- I am creeping up to APL right now, and will hopefully fully claim it after my next touch up and trim next week. After that I'm balls to the wall on gaining thicker, healthy BSL hair. I haven't measured how many inches from APL to BSL yet, but hopefully I can make it by the end of the year. Keeping up w/ my PS's, vitamins, and moisturizing/sealing should keep me from a large setback. I'm also due to move this year, so I have to make sure I either learn to self trim or find another stylist who knows the true definitions of dusting & trims.

Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using myTouch_4G_Slide

I need this right now and I need to stick with it.
Hair-I am cb in the front and sl in the back and I am dying to make it to bsl where I'll be happy and content. I'll be wearing twist outs pretty much all the time. Mosturizing and sealing every night, wash every 2 weeks, dc twice a week with heat, no combing unless hair wet with condish. No heat,,,oh BTw I'm a transitioner.

Body- I need to lose about 65lbs to be at a healthy weight, this has been a lifelong battle but I'm ready to do it. Thanks to Kbragg I now know and believe the power is in the calorie so I will be watching my calories closely, cutting out energy drinks and soda and deserts, I will be doing callenetics twice a day for excersize and cardio will have to be incorporated in my everyday activities such as taking stairs, parking far from my location etc... I can't lose the little bit of butt I have with extensive cardio so thats my excersize routine for at lest the next 3 months then on to venus index workouts

Brains-I will study harder in school and finally obtain my BA in english. I also will go forward with my goals to get published.

I'm definitely in!! There's always room for self-improvement

BSL: I'm going to start protective styling in february and bunning through the summer while I'm in military school, covering my hair at night and leaving my hair alone as much as possible for 2012 so I can get a nice surprise by '13

Body: I'm going to get back to running and muscle toning so I can gain back the weight I lost from depression and look more healthy...and look into some pushup bras ;)

Brains: I'm going back to school!!!! *dances*

I’m in – this is the year to get on it

Hair: I'm currently past APL. My end goal is MBL and I think I could reach that by year end. I've been PS'ing in wigs and will continue with this and also use weaves as well.

Body: My end goal is 137 and I'm working on losing 15lbs every 3 months. I will be watching what I eat, portion control, up my water intake and workout initially 3x per week, working up to 5/6 days

Brains: Currently working on my BSc in Psychology and do other random little things during the summer breaks so yep got this down,

I am IN!!

Hair - I am APL

Brains - I am studying for a degree in Medicine, so I'd best have brains lol!

Body -12 pounds over recommended weight, but in the process of losing double that.

So I have the brains, and I am gonna claim the body soon! :)
Hair...we shall see :)

I am in:

Hair: Already there at MBL, but would like to be at WL some time in 2012

Brains: Got that too, 2 undergrad degrees, 1 Master degree, 1 Master level certificate

Body: This is where the work needs to happen. I need to lose 15-20 lbs. I plan to change my eating habits and get back on the Venus Index workouts.

I love this challenge. I'm so in, I want to continuous improve myself.

HAIR
- I'm apart of several challenges - Wig and Castor Oil. So I moisturize my hair daily with my shea mixture and oil my scalp and ends with JBCO mixture. I DC bi-weekly with steam. I rinse/wash my hair every 3 days with my mud wash or just let the water hit my scalp for a cleanse.

Brains - I have a BA and a MBA with a 3.4 GPA so I'm good in furthering my "education." But I am currently reading various white papers, books in my career field. Additionally, I enjoy writing, so I'm learning that field as well. I figure when I'm ready to write my white papers, I should know/experience the writing craft.

Body - Based on the BMI chart; I'm considered Obese. My 6 month goal is to be in the "overweight" zone. I'm eating healthier, juicing and started working out for at least 20 minutes per day. Or do 10 minutes of strenuous exercises.

I want to join!

Hair - I'm about an inch away from BSL. I should've reached this goal by Nov 2010 but I had to keep trimming split ends. Uggh! I'm giving myself to the end of Feb to reach this goal. Then I'm on my way to MBL!

Brains -
I consider myself pretty smart. My goal is to become more educated. I plan on going back to school this summer and finishing up my last year of college.

Body -
I want to lose about 4lbs off of my upper body. I want to also have very visible abs! I already started working out 3x a week and cutting out the late night eating. I will continue to do this going forward. I'm going away for my bday this year so I have to accomplish this goal by May 2012.

@nigue92

Thank you for joining.

You are going to go far Ms. Lady :yep: I can tell you are very determined. Things just don't happen to you, you make sure they happen.

aww thankyou! :) yes im very determined lol im going to make sure i reach all my goals

So i cut my hair from in between bsl-mbl to apl. i have never ever ever had apl hair in my life, the shortest my hair has ever been is bsl. but i absolutely LOVE it lol my stylist got rid of all my dead ends and on top of that she gave me layers and it looks fabulous. i havnt enjoyed my hair this much in a very long time.i also feel like this cut makes me look older i finally look like an actual college student lol.i'll post pictures shortly.
as of now im no longer a T3 because of my cut so my goal is to be BSL by July 1 .

I would like to join. I think this is something I could stick with. The longest part of my hair is BSL in the back, and APL in the front (I am natural and have been so for 4 years).

Body - Based on the BMI chart; I am overweight. My goal is to get out of the overweight zone. I have started to clean my diet up, eat according to the nutritarian system (greens, veggies, beans, fruits, nuts, seeds; salad is a meal, meat is a topping not an entree, etc); exercise daily either at Anytime Fitness and Bikram Yoga (4x a week/3x a week respectively).

Brains - I have a terminal degree (MD) so I am done with formal schooling, per se. I always do CME because I want to first, second because I have to maintain my license; I also am making a goal to read at least 50 books this year. I am studying for boards as well.

Hair - Natural products only (in the green products challenge). I rebraid once a week, and then re-wig from Monday-Friday; then let it be free on weekend. I also run a little water on my scalp daily due to the hot yoga, and spray with an oil mist from the Cowrie Shell Center (on Etsy). My weekly regimen is: Prepoo->Shampoo with diluted shampoo or mud wash->Rinse with hair tea or coffee->DC for 2 hours (my own hot head, no other heat)->Rinse->Rebraid with QB products->Wig up; my main thing will be to keep the process, products, and regimen simple.

Fingers crossed...:yep:

Tell us what your working with and your regi to make it happen.

Hair - Working on sticking to one reggie and keeping moisture and protein balanced

Brains - I'm in college for another semester... I feel inferior because I don't have a degree yet so I'm pushing toward it and toward being better at math.

Body -
I'm a few pounds overweight and I know this. I joined happilyliberal's Biggest loser challenge and I'm on myfitpal to keep me on track with my food and workouts. It's a great support system there :)

Great challenge! I'm working on all 3 this year...

Hair
START: APL with freshly cut ends
PLAN: Joined Ceramides and Luscious Healthy Ends challenges for focus and motivation. Weekly washing, daily moisturizing and sealing, continual end-babying, and religious horse pill vitamin swallowing
GOAL: BSL with luscious, healthy ends

Brains
Language Study
START: I'm teaching myself French and Korean languages. I need to really push myself to make time to study and practice every week.
PLAN: Until Paris trip in March, study French 4 days/week, Korean 2 days/week; after trip, continue with 3 days/week for each
GOAL: Complete my Easy French Step-By-Step and Easy French Reader books
GOAL: Complete my Elementary Korean textbook and all exercises in the workbook.

Art
START: Last August I started taking drawing classes. I'm still terrible but I've gotten better.
PLAN: Practice techniques from class at least 1 day/week (outside of class).
GOAL: By the end of the year I'd like to do a pastel piece that I am proud to frame and hang up in my apartment :yep:

Body
START: I am not overweight but am focused on toning up and gaining strength.
PLAN: I just bought the LegWork video. I'm going to start with 2x a week doing the video.
The two other days per week that I exercise, I'll do my current routine which is 30 minutes on my mini elliptical and 15 minutes of strengthening exercises (like "planks", pushups and tricep dips, etc).

GOAL: Right now the goal is just to get through the LegWork video without dying! It's pretty hardcore (for me at least).

Hi Ladies,
Would just like to report that I've lost about 5 pounds! I've started to rollerset again and I'm doing well in my classes!

I'm in!! I appreciate anything keeping me on my A game....

BRAINS
I just earned my Specialist degree in Education and applying for a Doctorate program as we speak. Moving to the Middle East to to teach. Anticipate learning the language there and culture.

BODY
I have changed my eating lifestyle. I am 80% raw vegan during the week, and only weekends semi-vegetarian (no beef, no pork). I am eating only clean foods. I juice daily. Only drink water or juice that I've made. I have already lost 15 pounds since Thanksgiving. I run everyday and belong to a gym. I just want a 6 pack!!

HAIR
ummmm......I need help!....... or maybe I need patience.
I take Chlorella, Biotin,EPO, MSM. I'm 100% natural, I'm wigging until April, I seal my ends with castor oil, I wash weekly, Deep Con., keep my hair moisturized, use Wild Growth Hair oil, the list goes on. I have so much shrinkage when i wash I get discouraged. When I stretch my hair I am just past shoulder.

Hair: I should hit WL sometime this year. Taking a relaxed approach this year. Still using sulfur mixes but not with the intensity I did last year. I'm in WL and Whip Challenges. Current length is in siggy.

Brains:
Attempting to teach myself conversational Spanish and German.German is harder let me tell ya!

Body:
Exercising at least 3x a week. I intend to start using maca by springtime to regain the hips I had no choice in losing when I lost weight. I've incorporated more fruit and veggie smoothies into my diet and cut back on sodas considerably.

Hey all!

Wanted to post a friendly reminder and I hope I can speak plainly without offending anyone.

Brains....in regards to making oneself a "the total package" means more than having a certain degree. It also means expanding your mind in ways that make you a more engaging, thoughtful, self actualized person.

I know plenty of PD.Ds who could easily be called "simple". And conversely, some of the most brilliant folks i know didn't graduate college - but could blow us all away with what they would use to describe themselves as "smart".

Dont get me wrong - book smarts is important and people tend to joke that I come off really cerebral at times (i.e., I'm a bit of a nerd). So on the surface it would seem ironic that I'm bringing up this point.

But I want to make sure we aren't using academia as the main/only measure of intelligence in this challenge.

Emotional intelligence & Social awareness are also important. So one could easily put "I want to volunteer at a shelter" under their groals for Brains or even cite wanting to travel to a distant country, taking up a hobby they've secretly coveted or overcoming a phobia.

Brain food doesn't just come from books. It also comes from exposure to new experiences. So it would be cool/fun to see some more of that highlighted in this thread.

And again - I hope this doesn't offend anyone (not my intent at all!)

Just hoping to see us all think out the box a bit, and not fall into the trap of thinking...."well I have a doctorate so that aspect of my personal development is squared away".

Cause that's not necessarily true. There's always room for growth/expansion no matter how fly you are.

Ok...lemme step down from my soap box. Much love and best of luck to everyone on this journey! :look:

*Special thanks to @My Friend for being the catalyst.

I hope it is not too late for me to join this challenge. I am working on all 3 areas this year so this is perfect.

Tell us what you are working with and your regi to make it happen.

Hair - Well I just went back to relaxing after being natural for 2+ years. So goal #1 is for my hair not to fall out. For the year, my goal is to grow to BSL with blunt, healthy ends. I am CBL now so this is quite ambitious. I plan to take vitamins, minimize direct heat, and DC weekly to try and make it happen.

Brains - I have been quite blessed in my education and in my career so far. However I am focusing on gaining an advanced certification in my field this year. I am giving myself a full year to successfully complete the 4 part exam. I plan to study at least 2 hours a day during the week and 4 hours a day on Sat & Sun.

Body - I need to get back into the habit of working out on a regular basis. I am not one to get caught up in numbers on the scale but I would like to tone up all over; more specifically I would like to flatten my tummy and pump up my booty :). I would like to get into the habit of working out at least 5 days a week. And also i want to increase my water intake to at least 64 oz. a day. And I want to stop eating after 7 PM.

Thanks for the post about college, it reminded me that I am more than just someone without a degree. I want to refresh myself in Spanish to be bilingual and brush up on my Braille so I can be certified to teach it, I also have a learn Hebrew book I need to study and if time Sign language to teach others. I'd like to volunteer with youth in the summer to see how I can help.
