Umm who is she?
And why does she care? If this really is about KimmayTube why is everybody on her wheels in the first place?

Oh I have a fun hairtyping story!
So I have a male coworker that normally keeps his hair braided but since we work saturdays and it was pretty empty in the office, he had his hair in a not so combed out fro (he's a 4c). So after we teased him a bit about him not combing it out, everyone in the office (about four of us) move on to the next subject of conversation and start working and all of that. So this one gal who works upstairs came to our office claims she has "mixed girl hair" though she's always wearing wigs and weaves and I've seen her edges previously so I took everything she says about her hair with a grain of salt.
Well she comes in with a hairbag on (not allowed by the by) and starts going on and on about my co-worker's hair and how it's nappy this and nappy that and generally causing a scene. She THEN goes on to say how her hair was so soft and curly and how she has 'mixed girl hair'. So my male coworker says "Ok, prove it, take off your cap! Show us that mixed girl hair!" So he reaches out and acts as though he's gonna take off her cap and she flips and start going on about how she doesn't have to prove anything to anyone and she knows how her hair is and she doesn't have to show us anything. There was a lot of finger waggin' and neck rollin' to be had. She's going on just as loud and just as ghetto as she wants to be and I'm in the corner crackin up because she's been called on her bluff and pissed off because of it. I've -seen- her real hair when she had some unfortunate not so well done crochet in her hair and it's 4a if that. Needless to say, she doesn't talk about her hair texture anymore.
people often say they are a 4a when they are 3b for example, not due to the fear if being dismissed but because they simply are novices when it comes to hair typing and they are guessing, I really doubt there is any major conspiracy going on as she is suggesting...
Also why do people think 4a/b is more difficult to take care of? Ive seen some people with hair type 3 and when combed out they have a beautiful thick bush ... And I think that must take as ages to tame and detangle. Im 4a and my hair isnt really majorily thick at all.
People need to realise natural is natural REGARDLESS of hair type, were divided by society at time for being black ... we need to stick together not divide ourselves futher by hair texture ... This is ridiculous

Because in many instances it is. 4A/B hair has a tighter coil which makes it harder for sebum to distribute itself down the hair shaft. This can make the hair more prone to dryness and breakage when compared to a looser hair type. Type 4 hair also has one less cuticle layer which makes it more fragile than other hair types. Type 4 hair is packed tighter and is more dense which can make it harder to detangle and comb through. Type 4 hair typically has massive shrinkage which can lead to tangling and knots. Trying to remove those tangles and knots can lead to breakage. All of these things combined makes Type 4 hair harder to care for when compared to Types 1-3.

yes ma'am... I see 1a/1b gorgeous by the way!!
let us know when you do an FLAT IRON vid!
Thank you. I grew it all by myself. My mother is Tumbuka and my father is Ngoni so we have good hair in our blood (We interacted alot with the British colonists back in the day).
Girl, I did a flat iron video except my results weren't what I expected. After posting a video on my blow out, the ends looked kinda...you know. So I am a bit skeptical on posting the flat iron video because you LHCFers go hard.
it's funny because I see a lot of 4's and think "you seem like a 3 to me". Then I see women that swear they are 3a-3bs and think "how so"?......
Personally, I can't type my hair because I have mixed textures. Once it is close to 100% healthy I may know, but that could be never............
The knotty ends (SSK's) are the story of my life. *sighs* I'm not gonna bother with heat for at least another year.not me... i just glide along with my silly.. possibly not so funny humor
i have fun w/ 2 or 3 people on here and keep it moving (i'm only passionate when it comes to life and those i love).... never in cyber space
i really would like to know what can solve those knotty ends on a blow out
i saw that on KT video and i immediately started trying to figure out what I could add to my ends to avoid that
i'm a long ways off of using heat tho'
This is not so.....Because in many instances it is. 4A/B hair has a tighter coil which makes it harder for sebum to distribute itself down the hair shaft. I honestly think it's pretty clear who she's "hinting" at...
^^^ I think you're right--4a has sort of become the "holy grail" of natural hair. You can say it's authentically kinky/nappy/coily black hair, but still slap some curl activator/gel on it and get some waves and curls on the snatch back. 3cs think they're mixed, 3bs are mixed, and 4bs are too nappy and all they can do is a twist or a fro.![]()
I say it's sad to go on and on about it, and it's why I don't talk much about hair anymore--it just gets to political and people put the two on the ten. Every hair type has it unique benefits and unique challenges. I have learned tips from 2bs-4"c"s over the years, no head is exactly the same curl pattern, density, or length as anyone elses. That's the beauty of it--but everyone wants to belong to something, so they have to invalidate another person's experiences in order to do it.![]()
A few days ago, there was a big "debate" of sorts about if kimmaytube was really a 4a/b as she claims or just a 3c because of how her hair behaved since growing longer. I suspect with certain things the video maker is saying, she's hinting at it being about kimmay and perhaps has seen our discussion as well.Song of Serenity, do you mind sharing? I am totally clueless.
Ah...thank you. I do remember seeing that. Someone actually ended up posting old pictures of KT to prove she was a type 4.A few days ago, there was a big "debate" of sorts about if kimmaytube was really a 4a/b as she claims or just a 3c because of how her hair behaved since growing longer. That someone was me. Lol.Ah...thank you. I do remember seeing that. Someone actually ended up posting old pictures of KT to prove she was a type 4.
Back to the topic though. I honestly feel the whole hair typing thing is too limiting. There are so many heads of hair that fall in between or are a combination of the Andre hair typing system. Natural hair is too diverse to package into four categories and nine or so sub categories IMO.

ppl are acting all brand new now adays like we all chose and hand picked out our hair type(s) for ourselves
girl you know i did... i change it up frequently
niiigh i say......who gone check me boo![]()
